The rcenary pulling the tripwire had his head pinned to a large tree by a crossbow arrow. Brains and blood splattered across the trunk in a shocking display.

His companion was so startled he didn't react for a mont, freezing for two seconds before he understood what had happened.

"Enemy!"

"The Wandering Knight is here!"

The man shouted, then imdiately scrambled to his feet and fled in a blind panic.

But his only answer was a rciless crossbow arrow.

"SWOOSH!"

Another red streak flashed as a crossbow arrow shot out, entering the back of the rcenary's neck and bursting out through his throat.

The rcenary's face was filled with terror. He flailed his arms wildly, finally gripping the arrowhead protruding from his throat with both hands, but he couldn't stop the blood from streaming over his fingers.

He struggled to run a few more steps before his strength gave out, and he collapsed onto the forest floor.

"'Big Finger'! Fuck, Big Finger is dead!"

Across the path, another rcenary cried out in alarm. Big Finger was likely the dead rcenary's nickna.

Fang Zhen, at this mont, was utterly calm. He showed no sign of the psychological turmoil that ca with killing.

He had made all his ntal preparations before the battle.

That was just how Fang Zhen was. Once he made a decision, he was incredibly decisive in its execution.

His pace was unhurried as he walked through the woods, reloading his Cheetah Hunting Crossbow as he moved.

A few seconds later, Fang Zhen had finished reloading the Cheetah Hunting Crossbow and nocked an arrow.

He flipped up the lens over his left eye on the Night Vision Goggles. With the lens raised, his vision returned to what his naked eye could see.

The night sky had grown overcast again. With no stars or moon, the forest was shrouded in darkness.

Fang Zhen hid in the darkness like the god of death, while the two remaining rcenaries faced the terror of a hunter who could erge from anywhere.

The two rcenaries held out for only a mont before their ntal defenses crumbled.

The rcenary across the path holding the tripwire let out a strange cry, threw down the rope, and turned to run without any sense of direction, clearly in a panic.

"Fuck!"

His companion was furious, but then his body trembled as if struck by a bone-chilling cold. He too succumbed to the fear, and clutching his short spear, he ran into the woods, fleeing for his life.

Fang Zhen's pace did not quicken.

His intuition told him there was no need to rush the chase. As long as he walked at a normal pace, neither rcenary could escape the effective range of his Cheetah Hunting Crossbow.

The trees in the forest were no obstacle; there were plenty of clear firing lanes.

Fang Zhen felt that the intuitive boost from his combat instincts seed to have grown a little stronger.

He had gone from vaguely sensing and grasping combat insights to being as precise as a mathematician.

He didn't dwell on it. The Hunting Crossbow in his hands was already reloaded.

Fang Zhen raised the Hunting Crossbow. After observing the rcenaries' escape routes, he aid through the scope with his right eye at a gap between the trees, as if anticipating their movents.

The rcenaries were still running.

But they had forgotten one thing.

It was easy to get lost in a forest, and in the dark woods at night without a light source, they would likely beco disoriented by darkness and fear before getting very far.

This was exactly what happened to the rcenary with the short spear. He had been running deeper into the woods, but after a large tree blocked his path, he inexplicably turned and started moving sideways.

And the path he took led directly into the gap between the trees that the Hunting Crossbow was aid at.

It was as if Fang Zhen had predicted this, waiting for him at this sniping point.

Guided by his intuition, he pulled the crossbow's trigger.

"SWOOSH!"

A red line streaked through the air. The crossbow arrow from the Hunting Crossbow entered under the rcenary's right ribs and buried itself completely in his chest cavity, not exiting from the left side.

The entire crossbow arrow had passed horizontally through both of the rcenary's lungs.

The short spear rcenary fell at the sound of the shot, his spear clattering away.

Fang Zhen's steps were firm and unhurried. He strode forward, reloading his crossbow with another arrow as he walked.

The last remaining rcenary appeared to be a fat man. He wasn't fast, and he seed quite cowardly. He had been the first to run, and now in the darkness, his voice was already breaking into sobs as he shrieked and fled.

By now, Fang Zhen had reached the spot where the tripwire had been set.

The fat rcenary, seemingly in the throes of a panic attack, was just stumbling in circles in the dark woods. He hadn't even made it twenty ters.

Fang Zhen calmly fired the fourth crossbow arrow.

The target of this arrow wasn't to kill the fat rcenary, but to hit his thigh.

"SWOOSH!"

"ARGH!"

The red trajectory of the crossbow arrow went straight into the middle of the fat rcenary's right leg.

The crossbow arrow pierced through his thigh, and the fat rcenary fell to the ground.

Fang Zhen felt a sense of relief.

Four arrows, four rcenaries.

The entire battle hadn't even taken twenty seconds.

'Their combat skills, equipnt, and individual abilities might be better than a Kobold's, but their morale is terrible. They scatter after the first hit.'

'Even the Dogman Miners have better morale than them.'

'Is it because they're human that they cherish their lives more?'

Fang Zhen looked down on the combat effectiveness of these rcenaries.

He switched the Cheetah Hunting Crossbow to his left hand and drew the Nepalese Curved Saber from his waist with his right.

The fat rcenary was now shrieking in terror. With one leg injured and his legs weak from extre fear, he couldn't even stand up. He could only drag his body with his hands, instinctively trying to get away.

Before long, Fang Zhen stood before the fat rcenary.

At this distance, even in the darkness, the fat rcenary could see Fang Zhen's face clearly.

Seeing Fang Zhen wearing Night Vision Goggles, looking like the Sword Saint, Master Yi, the fat rcenary grew even more terrified and scread loudly.

"Shut up, or I'll end you right now," Fang Zhen said, his voice deliberately cold.

Perhaps it was killing goblins and Kobolds that had tempered Fang Zhen's mind and Spirit, because now, after killing three rcenaries, he felt little psychological disturbance.

Moreover, he was becoming more and more adept at playing the role of a cold-blooded killer, really getting into character.

The fat rcenary was instantly scared into silence.

"I ask, you answer. No nonsense."

"Where is Rex?"

Fang Zhen asked.

"Rex… is at our cave hideout. He's interrogating the prisoner…" the fat rcenary stamred. "…Can you not kill ?"

His answer was Fang Zhen's boot.

The fat rcenary was kicked in the gut. He doubled over, his face contorted in pain.

"I told you, answer what I ask."

"Who is the prisoner in the cave?"

Fang Zhen asked.

"It's a Priest. I don't know where he ca from, but Rex said he's very important…" the fat rcenary said, clutching his stomach, not daring to hide anything.

'A Priest?' In an instant, an image of the Dark Path flashed through Fang Zhen's mind—the destroyed carriage, and the chalice and Holy Plate he had found in the Goblin Camp.

'Could the Priest the fat rcenary is talking about be the owner of the carriage, the chalice, and the Holy Plate?'

Fang Zhen's mind raced, but his expression remained unchanged.

"Answer my questions with only 'yes' or 'no'."

"Were you the rchants who sent equipnt and food to the goblins on the Dark Path?" Fang Zhen asked.

The fat rcenary's eyes suddenly widened.

But seeing the chilling curved saber in Fang Zhen's hand, he lost the courage to lie or argue.

"Yes."

"And you were the ones who sent supplies to the Dogman Tribe?" Fang Zhen asked again.

The fat rcenary's ntal defenses completely collapsed; he was already numb.

"Yes."

"What else have you done?" Fang Zhen asked coldly.

The fat rcenary suddenly shut his mouth and said no more.

Just as Fang Zhen was about to threaten him again, he suddenly heard Leon, who was following behind him, cry out in alarm!
