Chapter 41: Chapter 41: ’I Want to Be a Mage!

Magic!

A word that sounded so fantastical to Fang Zhen had just co from Max’s mouth.

Fang Zhen instantly perked up. His eyes sparkled, like the brightest star in the night sky suddenly igniting, illuminating the lonely, dark universe.

’Magic... so magic really exists,’ Fang Zhen’s heart thrilled.

Once upon a ti, the word "magic" truly held a certain power, conjuring up mysterious associations.

What boy hadn’t dread of magic or superpowers when he was young?

Fang Zhen clearly rembered grabbing a long, straight stick after watching cartoons as a kid and shouting, "I am She-Ra!" He also rembered scenes of shooting Kahaha waves at his friends.

It was embarrassing to think about now, but back then, he truly believed that magic and superpowers existed in the world. Not only did he believe it, but he was always convinced that one day, he would have them too.

The mory was still fresh in Fang Zhen’s mind.

Unfortunately, the world later proved to be far too realistic, and those dreams remained just that—dreams.

But now, the word "Magic" from Max’s lips had instantly reignited that childhood dream within Fang Zhen.

’This world... it actually has Magic!’

Fang Zhen’s eyes burned with intensity as he stared at Max.

"Tell

everything about this Magic," Fang Zhen pressed, his interest piqued.

Max also grew animated. He leaned in close and said in a low, mysterious voice, "I’ve also heard that among the Kobolds occupying the Redstone Town Mine, there’s a leader—so kind of Witch Doctor or Shaman. It can cast Magic, conjuring flas. Its destructive power is imnse."

"When the Dogman Tribe first migrated to Redstone Town, the Town Mayor hired rcenaries to launch a counterattack, but it failed."

"Several rcenaries died, and the ones who survived were crippled. They’re still wandering around Redstone Town, begging."

"You might see one of them in town, but his mind is gone. He can’t give you any clear information."

Hearing this, Fang Zhen propped his chin on his left hand, which rested on the table. With his right hand, he continuously fiddled with the Silver Coin on the tabletop, deep in thought.

’The Kobolds in the Redstone Town Mine have a magic unit? That’s definitely new information.’

’Getting this piece of intel was well worth a Silver Coin.’

’It seems the ’Normal’ difficulty instance is a big step up from ’Easy.’ The Kobold leader must be the boss monster, right? A boss that uses Magic... that’s going to be tricky.’

Fang Zhen assessed his own strength.

With his Dragon Gallbladder Two-in-One Bow, Bright Silver Spear, riot gear, and other equipnt, he wasn’t weak. In fact, he was quite strong in this world—probably Tier 1 or even Tier 0 within the scope of this instance.

Moreover, Fang Zhen now had solidified combat skills. He was more than just a notch stronger than when he was killing goblins in the Dark Path.

If the Kobolds were all just a lee-focused team of physical attackers, Fang Zhen felt there was a good chance he could wear them down bit by bit and take out the entire tribe.

But now, new information revealed that the Dogman Tribe had a magic unit?

That made the difficulty much harder to estimate.

Fang Zhen had cleared the Dark Path instance. The strength of physical-damage monsters was relatively easy to gauge, but he had never encountered a magic unit before. Its power, its strength, and how to counter it were all complete unknowns.

The mysterious and the unknown are the most terrifying things; it’s hard to even begin to think of a counter-strategy.

At first, Fang Zhen felt a bit of pressure, but he had a very positive mindset. In the next mont, he switched to a more optimistic way of thinking.

’First, I shouldn’t scare myself. Magic is mysterious, and a Mage among the Kobolds is unexpected, but this isn’t necessarily a bad thing.’

’Looking on the bright side, if Kobolds in this world can use Magic—and judging by this rchant’s attitude, he finds it unusual but not shocking—what does that imply?’

’It implies that in this Naless World, the existence of Magic is a given.’

’If that’s the case, then it opens up a possibility: maybe he could learn to use Magic too. At the very least, this instance right in front of him is an opportunity to learn it!’

Once Fang Zhen thought of it that way, the pressure he felt imdiately lessened. Instead, a powerful motivation surged within him to clear the Redstone Town Mine instance.

He saw it as a challenge.

This was a world with Magic, after all.

One of Fang Zhen’s hopes for this "dungeon life ga" was to learn or obtain supernatural powers from it!

Fang Zhen had always felt that because of video gas, many people had beco desensitized to magic, thinking of a Mage as just another class, nothing special.

Gas are all about balance. No matter how strong a Mage is, even if it’s jokingly called the developers’ favorite child, the ga experience of other classes has to be considered. So, generally, their combat power is similar to that of lee and other magic-based classes at the sa level.

But that was ga logic. It didn’t apply to his current "dungeon life."

Everything about Redstone Town gave him the feeling that this was a real, existing world.

Under such a premise, there was a fundantal difference between magic-based classes and lee classes.

Imagine it: in Fang Zhen’s real world, even if you were a martial arts superman, a champion like Tyson, a king of the UFC or so other no-holds-barred fighting league, so what?

If ten thugs with machetes rushed you—no, not even ten, three would be enough—even Tyson in his pri would have to turn and run.

But in the sa scenario, if it were a Mage, cornered in a dark alley with seemingly no way out, and suddenly the Mage gives a wicked smile, raises a hand, and a Fireball materializes from his palm...

The scene would be too perfect.

Fang Zhen figured those knife-wielding thugs would probably piss themselves on the spot. In a place with less strict religious regulation like Alieka or Japan, so might even drop to their knees and cry out to God or Satan, proclaiming the Mage their godfather or Sect Leader on the spot.

A Mage, even one who only knew level 0 or level 1 cantrips, as long as it was real Magic and they had normal intelligence, would have no problem becoming a Sect Leader in the real world.

A Mage is a true master; they aren’t even the sa type of being as a lee class.

From an energy perspective, soone who can use their own bio-energy to cast Magic like Fireballs and lightning, versus a lee class that can only use muscle power to swing a weapon—the difference in their energy levels isn’t even in the sa league.

And if they used sothing like the Magic Net to cast their Magic... well, that would be even more broken. There’d be practically no upper limit.

As Fang Zhen thought all this through, he felt a storm of excitent raging inside him.

’If I get the chance, I’m going to beco a Mage!’ a voice naturally arose in Fang Zhen’s mind.

Fang Zhen judged that, while he didn’t know about others, his own chances of becoming a Caster were extrely high.

After all, the "dungeon life ga" had no class restrictions.

Of course, Mages also had the weakness of being fragile up close. He wondered if that was also the case in this "dungeon life ga."

That could be solved, too. Since the "dungeon life ga" didn’t restrict his class, it was logical to assu that with enough resources, he could build himself into a magic-and-martial hybrid.

Thinking this through, Fang Zhen’s gaze grew fiery.

"Sir, you..." Max seed startled by the sudden intensity in Fang Zhen’s eyes.

"It’s nothing. Just thought of sothing interesting," Fang Zhen said.

A mont later, the fire in Fang Zhen’s eyes faded, and he regained his composure, but the passion still echoed in his chest.

Fang Zhen now had a true goal to chase: to beco a Caster.

He chuckled softly.

’The real world is all about money and power. The rich and powerful are the ones on top, but so what?’

’Even if you beco the richest man, you just have a bit more money. Sooner or later, soone even richer will replace you. Decades or a century later, who will even rember you?’

’It’s the sa with power.’

’But if I master the ability to cast spells, I might be the only person in the real world with superpowers, besides Xiao Yi. In the vastness of Earth, I alone would wield magic. I might just be the most special existence of all.’

’Thinking about it that way is pretty exciting.’

After thinking it through, Fang Zhen’s mind cald down again.

Having a goal to pursue was a good thing, but he still needed a calm and clear head to plan how to get what he wanted, step by step.

Becoming a Mage wouldn’t be that easy.

’First step: take care of the Redstone Town Mine, see the Kobold Caster there, and find out what this Magic is all about.’

’If I want to learn Magic, I have to see it with my own eyes first, right?’

Just then, the door to the Redstone Inn was thrown open.

A person burst in and shouted!

Fang Zhen glanced over.

At the sa ti, he imdiately gripped the long spear at his side!
