Chapter 304: Chapter 216: Solution, Part 2
BANG! BANG! BANG!
The two n, who had been partners just monts ago, opened fire on each other. One was riddled with dozens of bullets, while the other took four or five shots himself.
The one hit by the submachine gun couldn’t hold on any longer. His legs gave out, and he collapsed to the ground, curling up before quickly going still.
Leader Old Mo had been hit four or five tis. The shots to his chest were one thing, but one bullet had entered the front of his neck. Blood gushed out uncontrollably. He clutched his throat, his anger yet to fade, but the strength was already draining from his body.
Leader Old Mo fell to the ground, his submachine gun clattering beside him. A mont later, he stopped breathing.
The last xican gang mber stared in astonishnt at the scene before him. He simply couldn’t comprehend how things had devolved into this in just a few short seconds.
"You did this!" The last gang mber finally realized Fang Zhen had made a move. Furious, he spun around and aid his pistol at Fang Zhen.
However, as if he had predicted it, Fang Zhen was already moving.
He moved like a phantom cat, agile and fluid. To avoid shocking Li Zoyi and Ke Liangjie with an otherworldly display, Fang Zhen only used about forty or fifty percent of his power for the Assassination Step Technique. Even so, his movents were too swift and nimble to track.
The gang mber fired six or seven shots, but not a single bullet touched Fang Zhen. The trajectories weren’t even close, missing him by at least two ters.
BANG! BANG!
CLICK! CLICK! CLICK!
The gang mber was starting to lose control. He kept pulling the trigger, emptying the magazine, but he still hadn’t hit Fang Zhen. Now, his pistol was just clicking empty.
Panic set in. The gang mber’s hands trembled as he reached for his waist to reload.
BANG!
Suddenly, a single gunshot rang out.
The gang mber who was about to reload froze, his body twisting around in disbelief.
A bloody hole appeared on his right temple. He had been shot through the head.
His hands chanically carried out his consciousness’s final command, still trying to perform the reload. But then his body went limp, and he crumpled to the ground like a pile of mud, lifeless.
A short distance away, Ke Liangjie stood with both hands gripping a revolver. He was breathing heavily, his face flushed red.
A faint wisp of white smoke drifted from the muzzle of the revolver in Ke Liangjie’s hands.
Fang Zhen stopped moving and looked at Ke Liangjie.
Ke Liangjie was clearly in shock. He gasped for air, then instinctively glanced toward Fang Zhen.
Fang Zhen didn’t find it particularly noteworthy. He even managed to nod at Ke Liangjie, a gesture of encouragent and approval for his decisive action.
’This is the best possible outco,’ Fang Zhen thought. ’Three gangbanger scumbags are dead, and my own hands are, technically, clean.’
The gang leader and one of his n died shooting each other during a dispute. The third one was killed by Ke Liangjie.
Even if the police investigated, or if it went to court, Fang Zhen wasn’t afraid.
Of course, it was unlikely this incident would ever land Fang Zhen in a courtroom anyway.
Ke Liangjie slowly lowered the revolver, his expression shifting dramatically.
Fang Zhen could see that sothing was wrong with Ke Liangjie.
Murder is a serious cri. And since Ke Liangjie was a gang mber himself, a first-degree murder conviction here in the US would probably an a life sentence.
And everyone knows what Arican prisons are like.
Ke Liangjie was probably waging a war within himself right now.
Fang Zhen didn’t know what Ke Liangjie’s relationship with Li Zoyi was like, or if he would consider silencing the witnesses. But it was obvious that Ke Liangjie and he were practically strangers with no connection.
Fang Zhen could tell Ke Liangjie was wrestling with the idea of going all the way—eliminating the witnesses and then becoming a fugitive to escape the consequences.
He saw this, but it didn’t bother him.
’Only sothing that can actually threaten
can be called a danger.’
And Ke Liangjie didn’t have that ability.
Just then, Ke Liangjie’s gaze t Fang Zhen’s.
Fang Zhen could see the bloodshot eyes. Ke Liangjie had reached the critical mont of his internal battle.
Fang Zhen’s face remained impassive, appearing calm, but the aura around him shifted.
"I suggest you think this through. So things, once done, can’t be undone."
"Think carefully."
Fang Zhen said coolly, looking at Ke Liangjie.
The other man t Fang Zhen’s gaze and suddenly seed to realize sothing. A look of abject terror washed over his face.
Seeing this, Fang Zhen knew Ke Liangjie was no longer a threat.
He had just directed a sliver of his killing intent at Ke Liangjie.
Killing intent wasn’t a formalized skill, yet it felt as if it were a tangible thing.
Others might not be sensitive to it, but as a gang mber, Ke Liangjie was likely more attuned to that kind of gaze.
Ke Liangjie’s bravado crumbled. He lowered his pistol and averted his gaze, not daring to et Fang Zhen’s eyes.
"WTF!" Li Zoyi finally snapped back to her senses, letting out an Arican curse.
"What the hell? People are dead! What are we going to do?"
"What if the cops find out?"
"Fuck, I’m too young to go to jail and hang out with those bitches!"
Li Zoyi was hysterical, her speech a mix of Chinese and English. It was clear the situation had broken her composure.
"What else can we do? Clean up the evidence and get the hell out of here," Ke Liangjie said, his mood just as low, if not more agitated.
Fang Zhen looked at the two of them, assessing the situation at a glance.
Li Zoyi wasn’t in the criminal circle; she just knew Ke Liangjie. She would probably be fine if she went back to Houston.
But Ke Liangjie was the one who arranged this deal. Soone must have known he was in contact with Old Mo’s crew. At the very least, soone in the local gangs in Colonia City would know, and they’d track Ke Liangjie down quickly.
Ke Liangjie probably couldn’t go back to Houston. He’d have to run.
And if Ke Liangjie was caught, Li Zoyi would be in danger too.
The anxiety was written all over their faces—a fear of losing their lives.
Fang Zhen felt a flicker of sympathy for their plight.
Then, he took a couple of steps over to the car and retrieved the fifty-five thousand US Dollars he had given the gang leader.
"Hey! What are you doing? You’re taking all the money back?"
"What the hell have you done? We helped you find a channel, and now people are dead! Are you just going to take the money, run back to Xia Country, and leave us here?"
"Aren’t you being too selfish?"
Li Zoyi couldn’t help but shout when she saw this.
Fang Zhen put the money away, stood up, and looked at Li Zoyi. "Let’s get one thing straight. I don’t owe you anything. We just had a business transaction."
"You found the people, the channel, the sellers. And what was the result?"
"The seller pulled a gun and almost killed . What more do you want? A finder’s fee?"
"Why should I pay you? Because the seller you found almost killed ?"
Li Zoyi was silenced by his retort, unable to find the words to respond.
Although Li Zoyi was emotional, she was generally a reasonable person. What Fang Zhen said was indeed the truth, and it was hard to argue against.
But once a woman gets worked up, it’s not easy for her to calm down.
Li Zoyi looked at Ke Liangjie and asked, "Are you just going to let him walk all over you?"
Ke Liangjie had likely realized sothing earlier and was a little afraid to look at Fang Zhen.
Now, Ke Liangjie finally mustered his courage, preparing to confront Fang Zhen.
But as soon as he looked up, he saw a faint, almost imperceptible red glint flash in Fang Zhen’s eyes.
Violence Hypnosis!
Ke Liangjie froze. He was instantly overwheld by an irresistible, bone-deep fear of Fang Zhen, to the point where even the thought of deceiving him was impossible.
This was precisely the consciousness Fang Zhen had implanted in Ke Liangjie using Violence Hypnosis.
Fang Zhen also discovered that when facing targets who were already afraid of him or had been intimidated by him, their willpower seed to be weakened by an additional one or two points, making it especially easy to overwhelm and break them with his consciousness.
This also aligned with his general understanding of people: an opponent who caves once is likely to keep caving.
Fang Zhen implanted the beliefs that Ke Liangjie must not resist him, must fear him, and must not deceive him.
Ke Liangjie’s eyes darted away, not daring to et Fang Zhen’s. He lowered his head and mumbled, "But this situation has to be dealt with. I need money to lay low for a while. If I get caught... prison would be the best-case scenario. If the gangs get , they’ll torture
to death. And Zoe will be implicated too."
"Zoe knows you, so you could be found too. Even if you go back to Xia Country, it’ll be a hassle if you get banned from entering the US by the governnt."
"I need money to run. I don’t have much on ."
Seeing that Ke Liangjie had softened his tone and was speaking factually, Fang Zhen considered him to be sensible and gave a slight nod.
"I have a solution. How about..."
