Chapter 764: Chapter 764: What Picture of Their Daughter?
Later, the third daughter and Shao Yang went public with their relationship. Soon after, news about the second daughter and Qin Jiang also spread throughout their social circles.
Describing Shao Yang’s identity as rely the heir to a top luxury brand was an understatent. A century-old brand involved far more complexities than that. This was a man deeply in love with the third daughter, to the point that he wouldn’t marry anyone but her.
On the surface, the prospective son-in-law, Qin Jiang, appeared to be just an ordinary young master from Jingcheng. His family was wealthy and had so influence, but that seed to be the extent of it. However, those in the know understood that Qin Jiang had a brilliant future ahead of him; his family’s foundations were truly substantial. There were so matters that couldn’t be investigated too deeply, so the situation was not as simple as it looked.
At this point, only the marriages of the eldest son and the fourth son were left unsettled.
Certain people began scheming, racking their brains to orchestrate a match, just as the eldest son’s romance with Cai Xia caused a sensation. The eldest son was destined to beco a pillar of the nation, a fact that went beyond re career prospects. He was widely regarded as the youngest, most capable, and most promising scientific figure in the country. And as for Cai Xia, a deeper look into her family background revealed she was just as extraordinary.
This sent people into a frenzy. The Lin Family now only had the fourth son available, plus a young daughter still in third grade. If they didn’t make their move now, they would lose their chance entirely.
The Xuan Family, however, was not among them.
They had only one precious daughter, and since marriage was such a monuntal event in life, it had to be with soone she genuinely liked, not a marriage of convenience. They also fretted over who to find for her. Xuan Real Estate was the largest property company in the country, and her father was a prominent figure on the wealth lists. With such family standing, it was inevitable that people with ulterior motives would try to get close to their daughter. Incidents like this had happened before, but thankfully, they had always managed to cut their losses in ti.
They figured it was best to find a capable young man with good character and let the two of them spend ti together to see if any feelings could develop. Just as they found a suitable candidate and even a doctor for her, their daughter went and found a cure for her illness and a future son-in-law all by herself.
"You an, he still doesn’t know your identity?" her father asked.
Xuan Jiayi understood her father’s implication. "Dad, so what if he finds out who I am? The Lin Family doesn’t need him to do anything for them, and he certainly doesn’t need anything from us."
Arranged marriages for mutual benefit still happened, of course, but the Lin Family had never considered asking their children to marry for the sake of the family. Outstanding people naturally attract equally outstanding partners, which is why all their significant others were so impressive.
Hearing their daughter’s reasoning, her parents had to admit she had a point. What could the Lin Family—or more specifically, their fourth son—possibly want from their daughter? The two families had never had any business dealings, so there was no profit to be gained.
Puzzled, Xuan Jiayi asked, "Mom, Dad, why does it have to be about benefits? Isn’t it possible he just likes
for who I am? I’ll admit I’m also curious why he agreed to go out with , but while I think anything is possible, I’m certain it has nothing to do with personal gain."
Her mother shot her husband a look before turning to her daughter, her eyes curving into crescents as she smiled warmly. "That’s right! Our Jia Yi is an outstanding girl in her own right! The fact that the Lin family’s fourth son has taken a fancy to our Jia Yi just proves he has good taste. There aren’t as many hidden complexities as you’re imagining."
Her mother asked if she had any photos, urging her to show them.
"Oh, he’s so handso! Really handso!"
Xuan Jiayi giggled. "Mom, I have pictures of his whole family. Here, let
show you."
"This is his second sister. Isn’t she gorgeous? Her aura is absolutely incredible!"
Her mother nodded in agreent. "She is stunning. How on earth did they raise such a beautiful daughter?"
Xuan Jiayi was practically gushing like a fangirl. "Mom, and you have no idea how handso his second sister’s fiancé is! He’s just... so incredibly handso, with this amazing presence." She internally lanted her limited vocabulary, able to find no other word to describe him.
Xuan Jiayi then pulled up a photo of Lin Feng.
Her mother mistook him for the eldest son. "This must be the eldest, right? He’s quite handso, too."
This made Xuan Jiayi burst out laughing. "Mom, that’s their father, Lin Feng!"
Her mother snatched the phone for a closer look, her face a mask of disbelief. "Are you serious? How does he maintain himself so well? He must be over fifty, but he looks like he’s barely in his thirties!"
Her father leaned over for a peek and said sourly, "Hmph. Smartphones have all those beauty filters these days. Of course the pictures make him look younger."
Xuan Jiayi retorted, "That’s not it at all! He looks super young in person, too! Besides, my phone is an Apple; it doesn’t have those kinds of beauty filters."
Her father pursed his lips, feeling a pang of jealousy as his wife continued to admire the photo.
Her mother sighed in admiration. "It takes parents with looks like that to have such beautiful children."
Xuan Jiayi lowered her voice conspiratorially. "Mom, keep swiping. There’s a picture of their mother next. You’re going to be even more shocked."
A woman’s aging process accelerates after thirty, and childbearing makes it feel like a runaway train is chasing you, rushing forward relentlessly. Everyone knew Zhang Yuxi was a few years older than Lin Feng. It stood to reason that a woman in her fifties, no matter how well she took care of herself, would inevitably look older than a man her age.
But Xuan Jiayi’s mother was proven wrong. When she saw Zhang Yuxi’s youthful face in the photograph, she nearly scread.
"Oh my god, how does she do it? She looks so young!"
Her father glanced over, but being a smart man, he knew to keep his mouth shut. Saying the wrong thing would surely earn him a slap.
Xuan Jiayi lifted her chin proudly. "See? Wasn’t I right? Doesn’t she look incredibly young? If she and her daughters walked down the street together, people would definitely mistake them for sisters."
Her mother was intrigued. "I desperately want to know her skincare secrets. Maybe... darling, could you ask her for
next ti?"
Xuan Jiayi assured her it wouldn’t be a problem. Zhang Yuxi would probably tell , right?
"This is a picture of the youngest daughter."
Compared to the otherworldly beauty of the second and third daughters, the youngest wasn’t as imdiately stunning. However, her features were well-defined and she had a charm that grew on you. The more they looked, the more they found the little girl to be truly lovely, especially her eyes, which seed capable of speech.
The couple had arrived with their minds full of worries, but now, it seed all their problems had been resolved. Xuan Jiayi’s mother trusted Lin Feng; the effectiveness of the Lin family’s dicine was proof enough of his caliber. Seeing her daughter so sunny and radiant reminded her of how she used to be. A wave of gratitude washed over her mother, and she lovingly tidied her daughter’s hair.
"They’ve taken care of you for so long. As her parents, we must go and thank them properly. Let’s pay them a visit tomorrow."
Her father nodded. "We actually t them many years ago."
Xuan Jiayi sighed. "You’re a little late. Uncle Lin Feng took the youngest daughter to a film shoot. Only his wife and his parents are ho."
Her father insisted imdiately, "We should still go."
Xuan Jiayi had no objection. Does this count as our parents eting? This is so embarrassing.
"Mom, Dad, I’ll leave you to it. I’m heading to the gym, or I’ll be late."
Her mother stood up. "We’ll head out with you. We need to buy so gifts; we can’t show up empty-handed."
After accompanying her daughter to the gym for a look around, her mother suggested that her husband should also exercise more.
Her father was speechless. Is she criticizing
now? he thought. That’s taking it too far.
