Chapter 736: Chapter 736: Marrying You Is Truly Worthwhile!

Xiao Bao was a little socialite. Thanks to his family’s privileged background and his own good looks, he made many new friends. It wasn’t just his classmates; the teachers of all his subjects adored him too. All in all, Xiao Bao was thriving at his new school, like a fish in water.

Lin Feng’s life revolved around his son and family. In his free ti, he would often ride his electric scooter around town.

Zhang Yuxi’s work was proceeding exceptionally smoothly. All departnts were cooperating, and for several days straight, she received high praise online.

"Tomorrow, I need to go check out Thirteenth Middle School," Zhang Yuxi said wearily from the couch. "They have so serious issues." The very controversy causing a stir online had occurred at that school.

"Do you want

to go with you tomorrow?" Lin Feng asked.

Zhang Yuxi shook her head. "No need. I’ll go with my team."

That evening, the local channel reported on Zhang Yuxi’s visit to Thirteenth Middle School. On screen, Zhang Yuxi wore a smile, but her expression remained stern. Her stunning face was the picture of seriousness.

"Mom is so amazing!" Xiao Bao praised.

Lin Feng also complinted her, "You’re incredible, honey!"

"It’s just work," Zhang Yuxi responded with a faint expression.

In her many years of working, Zhang Yuxi had rarely appeared on television. When she was the president of Yangcheng University, she had turned down several interview requests. So, it wasn’t surprising that she was on the news now because of the Thirteenth Middle School incident.

The following week, Zhang Yuxi was incredibly busy. She often ca ho around nine or ten at night and left at a little past six in the morning. Lin Feng didn’t understand the specifics of Zhang Yuxi’s work, so he couldn’t help much. Instead, he focused on taking perfect care of his wife and son’s daily life. No matter what ti she left or how late she returned, there was always a hot al waiting at ho.

Tonight, Zhang Yuxi had to work overti. Since it was Friday, Lin Feng figured it wouldn’t hurt for his son to stay up a bit later. After the father-son duo finished their dinner, they went to bring a al to Zhang Yuxi.

This was his second visit to Zhang Yuxi’s workplace, and he had t so of her colleagues once before.

"Here to bring food to Director Zhang?"

"Director Zhang is in a eting. You’ll have to wait a bit."

Lin Feng and Xiao Bao waited in Zhang Yuxi’s office, where Xiao Bao asked to play gas on his phone.

"Only for thirty minutes."

Half an hour later, just as Xiao Bao finished his ga, Zhang Yuxi’s eting concluded. A group of people entered her office, led by Zhang Yuxi, whose brow was furrowed with worry. Her expression softened into a faint smile only when she saw her husband and son. The others tactfully said their greetings and left.

"It’s so late. You didn’t have to bring

food; I could have just grabbed sothing from the cafeteria." Though she said this, she was delighted inside.

Lin Feng cleared her desk and laid out the food. Zhang Yuxi washed her hands and ca over to eat. She glanced at the dishes; the al was sumptuous and consisted entirely of her favorite foods. Worried she wouldn’t have enough, Lin Feng had packed three insulated containers, plus a glass box filled with fruit.

"I can’t possibly finish all this! Hang on a second." Zhang Yuxi called out "Xiao Zhang!" from her office doorway, and a young man soon appeared.

The young man wore glasses and was dressed simply. He wasn’t very tall, only about 1.7 ters. This was her assistant, a man she had brought with her and personally ntored. He had been with her for three years, was highly competent, and had beco one of her most trusted subordinates. He had even visited their ho during the New Year to pay his respects and was always very kind to Xiao Bao.

Xiao Zhang had started in a clerical role, but Zhang Yuxi recognized his potential and took him under her wing. He was one of two others who had followed her to this new post. His family was of modest ans; his parents were farrs in the village and had worked hard to support his education. Not long ago, Xiao Zhang’s father had passed away after a fall on his way ho. His own life was tough, as he was also paying for his mother’s dical treatnts, and now, approaching thirty, he was still unmarried. Seeing his difficulties, Zhang Yuxi took care of him however she could and was even planning to have soone introduce him to a potential partner.

Xiao Zhang held a stack of docunts in his hand. When Zhang Yuxi invited him to eat, he hurriedly declined. "No need, Sis. My instant noodles are ready; I’ll just have those."

Zhang Yuxi frowned. "What nutrition is in instant noodles? Co on, eat this. My husband brought way too much; I’ll never be able to finish it all."

Lin Feng also gestured for Xiao Zhang to sit and eat.

Xiao Zhang looked a little embarrassed. "I couldn’t possibly impose."

In the end, he brought his own bowl over, and Zhang Yuxi filled it for him, leaving about a third of the food for herself. Xiao Zhang smiled shyly, thanking them profusely as he left the office.

Lin Feng was quite fond of Xiao Zhang. Back in L City, he had often invited him over for dinner, and you could see the young man had put on so much-needed weight.

"Eat slowly," Lin Feng said to his wife. "No matter how much work is waiting, you have to eat properly."

After Zhang Yuxi finished eating, she urged them to hurry back ho. It was almost eleven o’clock, and Xiao Bao needed to rest.

Lin Feng laughed. "If he gets sleepy, he can just sleep on the sofa. The weather is cool, so he won’t catch a cold. I’m not in a hurry either. I have nothing else to do, so I’ll wait and we can go ho together."

This ti, in coming to L City, Lin Feng had no intention of letting his son live too comfortably. He wanted him to experience more of life. Xiao Bao had no objections. When it ca ti to endure hardship, he was more than capable.

"I’m telling you two to go ho," Zhang Yuxi chided playfully.

"Don’t worry about us," Lin Feng said, picking up a book from her desk. "Go on and get back to work."

Warmth spread through her heart.

The office was bustling, with a steady stream of people coming to see Zhang Yuxi. Her expression was serious, exuding an aura of authority that commanded respect without anger. When discussing work, her tone left no room for doubt. This was a side of Zhang Yuxi he never saw at ho. In fact, Lin Feng had rarely ever seen her like this.

Xiao Bao was getting sleepy, so Zhang Yuxi brought him a blanket and spoke gently. "If you’re sleepy, just sleep here for now. We’ll wake you when we leave."

Xiao Bao was fast asleep in less than a minute. The couple couldn’t help but look at each other and smile. Xiao Bao, much like their fourth child, had been a good eater and a sound sleeper since he was little, possessing a wonderfully resilient mindset.

"Just wait a little longer," she said.

Lin Feng smiled. "It’s no problem. You handle your work. I’m not sleepy."

After Xiao Bao fell asleep, he didn’t stir, even when people in the office deliberately lowered their voices while talking.

Lin Feng, who was always full of energy, excused himself and stepped out of the office. Zhang Yuxi assud he was going to the restroom and was about to tell him there was one in the office. But to her surprise, he returned a few monts later carrying late-night snacks.

"Co on, everyone. Eat first, then get back to it."

So as not to disturb the sleeping Xiao Bao, they decided to eat and chat in the conference room. From their conversation, Lin Feng gathered that the situation was extrely complicated—the water ran deep, and it wasn’t sothing just anyone could handle. But Zhang Yuxi was fearless. Her husband was wealthy, and her children were all capable. Her powerful family was her backing, allowing her to be fearless.

They worked until half-past twelve. People began to leave one after another, and Zhang Yuxi was the last to go.

On the way ho, Lin Feng massaged her shoulders as he listened to her explain all the twists and turns of the situation, occasionally interjecting with his own insights. Having been a manager for over twenty years, Zhang Yuxi already understood most of it. But occasionally, Lin Feng would raise a point that she hadn’t considered.

"Honey," she murmured.

"Hmm?"

"Marrying you in this lifeti... it’s been so worth it."

"Being able to marry you is what made my life worth it."

Back then, Zhang Yuxi’s family was well-off and she was exceptionally capable herself, not to ntion having the children to consider. As for him, apart from his good looks, he had nothing. Under normal circumstances, they might never have ended up together.

They got ho close to one in the morning. Zhang Yuxi declared she was too tired to wash up and just wanted to sleep. In a sleepy daze, she felt soone gently washing her face.

"Honey..." she murmured, too exhausted to open her eyes.

Lin Feng humd a gentle response. "I’m here. Go to sleep."

A sweet smile graced her lips. "Honey... when we get old... let’s go be farrs... okay...?"

Before Lin Feng could answer, she was sound asleep.
