Chapter 730: Chapter 730: Sense of Belonging to Ho

KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK.

"Co in," ca Sanbao’s voice.

This was Sanbao’s studio, filled with various musical instrunts and cluttered to the point where one couldn’t see where anything was. Lin Feng looked around and saw Sanbao behind the piano, motionless, busy with sothing in her hands.

Lin Feng walked over and asked softly, "Still busy?"

Sanbao humd quietly. "But I’ll be done soon. Did you need

for sothing, Dad?"

Lin Feng smiled. "No, I just saw you were still working so late and ca to check on you."

Sanbao simply said, "I’ll go to sleep in a bit, Dad. You should go rest."

She was so engrossed in her work that she was completely unaware of Lin Feng waiting silently beside her. She didn’t notice him until she finally finished.

"Dad, you haven’t left?"

Lin Feng glanced at the ti; it was almost half past twelve. "Are you still going to work?"

Compared to Erbao, Sanbao’s daily routine was quite regular; she always went to sleep as soon as her work was done. She wouldn’t stay up scrolling through her phone, browsing Weibo, or watching videos. Her self-discipline was second only to Dabao’s, unmatched by anyone else.

Sanbao shook her head. "No, I’m going to sleep."

She paused, then asked again, "Dad, is there sothing you wanted to talk to

about?" Since it was so late, he clearly hadn’t co just to watch her work.

"I’ve noticed you’ve been down lately. Has sothing been bothering you? Can you talk to your dad about it?"

Sanbao insisted that she was fine.

Lin Feng showed no signs of leaving, simply sighing. "You all are grown up now with your own ideas. It’s normal for there to be a generation gap with your dad, and that we can’t talk about everything."

Sanbao thought for a mont, realizing Lin Feng had co prepared.

"Dad, what do you want to say?"

Lin Feng got to the point. "Did you and Shao Yang have a fight?"

"Erbao must have told you sothing," Sanbao said with certainty.

Erbao, I didn’t say a thing, Lin Feng thought. Sanbao guessed this all on her own.

Sanbao just asked, "Dad, how did you and Mom start dating, and how have you stayed together for so long?"

This question stumped Lin Feng.

He and Zhang Yuxi had a ’marry first, love later’ relationship. To say they had dated wasn’t quite accurate. Back then, Lin Feng was already putting all his effort into taking care of four children; where would he have found the energy to date?

Why were they still together? Their affection for each other was strong, and they had four lovely babies!

Aside from the elders, the four kids truly didn’t know the story of Lin Feng and Zhang Yuxi. He told Sanbao their real story for the very first ti. It was as if he was saying, "Back when we were young, your mom and I were really wild."

After hearing the story, Sanbao’s eyes widened, as if she was seeing her dad from a new perspective for the first ti.

With this opening, Sanbao also confessed her strong sense of belonging to her ho. She didn’t want to go abroad; she wanted to stay here. This made her reluctant to continue her relationship with Shao Yang, yet she couldn’t let him go. She liked Shao Yang.

Lin Feng asked, "What did Shao Yang say?"

Sanbao lowered her gaze and said softly, "He said he respects my choice. He said if we get married, I can live here, and he’ll just travel back and forth."

"But I feel that would be unfair to him..."

When it ca to dating experience, Lin Feng didn’t have much. He was truly at a loss when it ca to relationship problems and could only offer his daughter encouragent. No matter what decision she made, as her father, he would always support her unconditionally. As long as she was happy, that was all that mattered!

At the sa ti, he hoped his daughter wouldn’t give up on this relationship but would be brave and give it a try. The fact that Shao Yang was willing to do this showed how dedicated he was to their relationship. Since Shao Yang could be so brave, Lin Feng hoped Sanbao could press on too!

For so reason, after hearing her father’s words, her previously wavering and helpless heart gradually cald.

"That’s all I have to say. I don’t know any other great truths, but I hope it helps you."

「Back in their room」

Zhang Yuxi hadn’t slept. She was looking at her phone, waiting for him. "Where did you go?"

"Sanbao was still working, so I went to check on her," Lin Feng replied.

Zhang Yuxi frowned. "Is she all right? I’ve noticed she’s been troubled lately and have been looking for a chance to ask her... But that child has always been closer to you. She might not say anything if I ask. Maybe you can ask her tomorrow if she had a fight with Shao Yang."

Even though Zhang Yuxi was busy with work, she was very attentive to family matters, noticing the smallest details.

Lin Feng raised an eyebrow. "Why do you think it’s a fight?"

Zhang Yuxi shot him a look. "Isn’t it obvious? Don’t be fooled by her soft exterior; she’s actually a very determined person. When it cos to her work, I’ve never heard her complain about hardship or fatigue! She’s full of inexhaustible passion and loves a challenge. So if it isn’t a problem with work, it must be about her relationship. I can’t think of anything else."

Lin Feng cradled her face and said with a grin, "Honey, you’re so smart."

Zhang Yuxi had gained a fair bit of weight since becoming the deputy director, putting on pounds for no apparent reason. Lin Feng would say it was a sign that nopause was approaching. She was already in her fifties but still got her period, thanks to the dicine Lin Feng gave her.

Her face, chubby now, squished as she tried to widen her eyes. "You talked to Sanbao?"

Lin Feng lowered his hands. "Yes, I talked to Sanbao. There are indeed so problems in their relationship."

Zhang Yuxi didn’t have much hope for this relationship. The biggest issue was the long distance. After hearing what Lin Feng had to say, she sighed.

"You’re right. As parents, it’s not our place to make these decisions for them. We’ll have to see what she decides for herself."

A relationship is like drinking water; only the person drinking it knows if it’s hot or cold. Weren’t they the sa way back then? No one thought they would last, yet who would have guessed she would end up marrying into such happiness? Now, who wasn’t envious of her good fortune?

In the middle of the night, Lin Feng sensed that the person beside him was still awake. He opened his eyes and asked, "Honey, what are you doing?"

Zhang Yuxi was looking at her laptop. "Nothing much, just looking at so pictures."

Lin Feng propped himself up for a look. The screen was filled with photos of the quads when they were a few months old. mories began flooding back, and he too found himself unable to sleep.

"Honey, guess who this is?"

"Does that even need guessing? That’s Si Bao."

"And this one?"

"That’s Dabao! Right from birth, his build was different from the others. He was so strong and sturdy."

Zhang Yuxi mused, "Exactly. I rember thinking back then that this kid seed a little slow and would probably end up doing manual labor."

Little did she know that among the four children, it was Dabao who ended up doing highly intellectual research work.

The couple reminisced as they looked through the photos.

Zhang Yuxi suddenly covered a child’s head in one photo with her hand. "Honey, take a look. Who is this?"

"This one is either Erbao or Sanbao... It’s Sanbao!"

"Hey, how could you tell?"

"That’s easy. Sanbao had straight hair back then, and Erbao had curly hair—naturally curly. How could I not know that?"

After reminiscing over the photos, the couple grew sentintal.

"When they have kids, we’ll be grandparents."

"Don’t think like that," Lin Feng countered gently. "We still have Xiaobao, so we’re still young."

Speaking of which, Zhang Yuxi suddenly recalled the ti she was mistaken for Xiaobao’s older sister. The mory made her happy. After all, what woman doesn’t want to look young?
