Chapter 709: Chapter 709 eting the In-laws in Jingcheng

She busied herself getting dressed and ready.

Er Bao, perpetually unsatisfied, asked San Bao to go clothes shopping with her.

San Bao glanced at the clothes strewn all over the bed and floor and hesitated.

"Second Sister, I don’t think the clothes are the problem. I think you are," she said.

Er Bao refused to admit it. "What could possibly be wrong with ? These clothes just aren’t worthy of . I need new ones."

"Second Sister, are you nervous?" San Bao asked.

Er Bao glanced at her, avoiding the question with one of her own. "If Shao Yang were taking you to et his parents, would you be on edge?"

San Bao thought for a mont. "I wouldn’t!"

Startled by San Bao’s conviction, Er Bao asked, "Why are you so sure? It hasn’t gotten to that point yet, so how could you know?"

San Bao’s explanation was simple. She possessed beauty, wealth, status, and talent. Moreover, in their relationship, Shao Yang had been the one to pursue her, not the other way around where she couldn’t live without him. There were countless n in the world; if she lost Shao Yang, there were thousands of others out there. Among San Bao’s suitors were the sons of yacht tycoons and dia company heirs, among others. While their titles might fall slightly short of Shao Yang’s so-called ’top luxury brand heir’ status, their net worth was nothing to scoff at. She was wealthy in her own right; she wasn’t looking for a partner for their money.

Listening to San Bao, Er Bao found her words made perfect sense.

"Well said. That’s exactly what I think," she said.

Er Bao felt a wave of relief, her nervousness abating.

Da Bao and Si Bao were already in Jingcheng, so they were definitely expected to attend. San Bao naturally had to accompany her sisters, but when she saw Shao Yang, she asked, "Why are you here?"

Shao Yang glanced at Qin Jiang. "I’m friends with Qin Jiang, why can’t I co? You all do your thing; I won’t be a bother."

He might even beco family with Qin Jiang!

San Bao didn’t pay him any mind. "Suit yourself."

Shao Yang smiled.

Sotis, San Bao’s composure made him feel as if they were just friends, not a couple. It’s almost as if she doesn’t care much about !

Once the family had prepared the gifts, Lin Feng flew them to Jingcheng in his private jet. With Qin Jiang as their guide, they arrived at his ho.

It was a courtyard residence!

"We’ve moved out," Qin Jiang explained. "My grandparents live here now."

These days, the value of a courtyard residence in Jingcheng was incalculable, especially one so large and well-maintained. The Lin family was wealthy and already knew Qin Jiang ca from an exceptional background, so they weren’t particularly surprised.

Shao Yang tactfully excused himself. "I have so things to take care of, so I should get going. Let’s catch up later."

Qin Jiang smiled. "Sure, I’ll call you for a drink soti."

Qin Jiang’s entire family had been waiting eagerly. When he sent a ssage saying they had landed, they’d been tempted to go pick them up from the airport, but they had too much to prepare.

As the door opened, a figure rushed out—it was Qin Jiang’s mother.

Qin Jiang had his mother’s eyes, both slender with a slight upward tilt.

"Ah, you’re here! Please, co in, co right inside," she said eagerly.

Qin Jiang’s father also ca over, beaming. "You’ve arrived. Co on in."

This ti, Qin Jiang’s aunt and uncle were also present, and the whole group filed into the house.

Qin Jiang’s grandparents were still youthful and full of spirit, greeting the Lin family with warm smiles. Qin Jiang’s father introduced everyone one by one.

"You must be hungry! Co, co, let’s eat."

They had prepared a grand feast, setting up a table to eat in the cool courtyard. Lin Feng and Zhang Yuxi tried to help but were politely ushered away. Her sisters also offered to help but were similarly asked to relax.

There was nothing to be done, so they could only sit in the courtyard. Er Bao, who was usually so socially adept, found herself at a loss for words. Si Bao, on the other hand, was a natural talker and began to wander around the courtyard. She ended up with Qin Jiang’s grandparents, who started to tease her, but it was Si Bao who had them roaring with laughter instead. They even ntioned they had seen the dramas she acted in and were big fans.

Finally, they asked Qin Jiang to bring his girl over for them to have a look.

"She’s so beautiful. Standing next to our grandson, they look like a perfect match."

"Tell Grandma, what do you do for work? I heard you run a company?"

Er Bao sat demurely to the side, answering the elders’ questions and gradually beginning to relax.

Qin Jiang’s parents had the al ready and waiting. In less than ten minutes, the entire table was set. The seats of honor were for Qin Jiang’s grandparents, and the grandmother, taking a real liking to Er Bao, had her sit beside her.

"If you want to eat sothing, just have my grandson get it for you!"

"Thank you, Grandma. I will."

"My grandson is always busy with work. He’s a bit dull and terrible at expressing himself, just like a block of wood. Isn’t he dreadfully boring?"

"Not at all, he’s actually quite interesting."

"Interesting? Don’t you think I’d know my own grandson? It’s a good thing you don’t mind him."

"Grandma, you’re joking."

While they were chatting, Qin Jiang’s mother was introducing the dishes to her other guests, humbly saying, "My cooking is just average, all simple ho-style dishes. I hope they’re to your liking."

Everyone praised the food, saying how delicious it was.

The two families happily finished their lunch, after which Lin Feng presented the gifts he had brought. The grandfather and grandmother suffered from aches and pains, so the dicated plasters were exactly what they needed.

The grandfather even said, "I heard from my grandson that you have so dical skills. That’s truly impressive."

Lin Feng responded modestly, "I only know a little."

The grandfather waved his hand dismissively. "My grandson’s illness... we consulted so many doctors and tried countless redies. We were so fortunate to have t you."

"I also heard that you’re our nation’s richest man. That’s incredible! To be so young and so accomplished."

Lin Feng laughed. "Not at all. That’s just a list they made up; it’s just for show."

The grandfather chuckled again. "And I heard you raised your first four children, the quadruplets, all by yourself? You truly are remarkable!"

The grandfather was quite talkative now, having shed the stern deanor from their first eting. Being elderly, however, he soon lay down to rest after chatting for a while.

The grandmother, on the other hand, was still chatting with Er Bao and San Bao, her eyes sparkling with gossip. Indeed, a woman’s love for gossip knows no age.

The grandmother was curious how Er Bao had fallen for her grandson. "Besides being handso, he has no other skills. He’s just a blockhead."

The topic was a bit awkward, so Er Bao simply said, "I suppose it was fate. And he’s actually very humorous."

The grandmother giggled.

Seeing that Qin Jiang’s mother had finished her chores and co inside, San Bao excused herself and stepped out.

Qin Jiang’s mother was a very gentle woman who spoke in a soft voice. "Amitabha, my son has finally brought a girlfriend ho. You have no idea how worried I was that he would stay single forever..."

As they were talking, the grandmother beckoned to Er Bao. "Co with Grandma."

She brought out a wooden box filled with jewelry. The pieces looked like antiques, nothing like the flashy, modern jewelry Zhang Yuxi owned. The grandmother picked out a ruby-red ring.

"This is a gift to you, from

and Qin Jiang’s mother."

Er Bao understood the significance of the gesture and imdiately refused. "Grandma, you should keep this. I couldn’t possibly accept it."

Qin Jiang’s mother smiled. "This ring is a Qin Family heirloom. It was given to , and now we are giving it to you. We hope it will bless your and Jiang’er’s future together."

Er Bao felt flustered. "It’s too valuable. I... I..."

To give

this before we’re even close to getting married... it’s just too, too soon!

Qin Jiang’s mother took her hand and put the ring on her finger. "Jiang’er told us he has set his heart on you. He’s determined to be with you, whether you marry him or not. Even if it doesn’t work out between you two, that’s alright. Please accept this as our gift to you."

Their insistence was firm, and Er Bao, unable to refuse any longer, had to accept.
