Chapter 698: Chapter 698 Two Future Sons-in-Law
Sanbao was still unaware of the situation, practicing her violin upstairs.
Lin Dashan asked who the young man was.
Shao Yang quickly introduced himself. "I’m Sanbao’s friend, and I am pursuing her!"
Everyone suddenly understood. So, it really wasn’t Qin Jiang. Just as they’d thought; he was a foreigner.
Shao Yang had an impressive family background and an excellent character, and he carried the air of a young nobleman. He sat tensely on the sofa, surrounded by dozens of pairs of eyes, feeling as if he were on pins and needles, hardly daring to move. It felt even more nerve-racking than a business eting, and he wasn’t even sure what he’d said in response to their questions.
Were my answers even relevant? Did I make myself look like a fool?
"My family runs a company that deals in clothes, bags, shoes, perfu... just about everything."
"There are four of us in my family. I have an older brother, a younger brother, and a younger sister."
"Our family is quite wealthy, I guess. Our circumstances are pretty good..."
"We’ve known each other for many years. She hasn’t accepted my advances yet, but I’m trying my best!"
"Ah, I will definitely treat her well! I truly like her, I really do!"
"I’m not seeing anyone else. There’s only her..."
By the end, Shao Yang could feel his back drenched in sweat, and he wrung his hands together, completely at a loss.
Seeing his state, Lin Feng asked Sibao to go call Sanbao down.
What’s he gawking at? Just you wait, your turn will co.
Xiaobao felt a bit disappointed. Since they weren’t a couple, she wouldn’t get a red envelope. Nevertheless, she was still very happy with the gift she had received.
Sanbao ca downstairs in her pajamas, her expression revealing neither joy nor anger. "You’re here?" She had stayed up late practicing the violin the night before, so her mind was still foggy.
Seeing her was like seeing a savior. Shao Yang shot to his feet. "I ca to see you. I have sothing to talk about."
Sanbao took him at his word. "Oh, co with
then."
Under the gaze of dozens of eyes, Shao Yang awkwardly ascended the stairs to Sanbao’s studio.
Sanbao was drinking coffee to clear her head. "What’s up?"
Shao Yang looked around the studio as he explained, "Actually, it’s nothing important. I just ca to see you since it’s the New Year."
Sanbao uttered an "Oh" and continued to sip her coffee, trying to shake off her grogginess.
"What’s wrong? Are you not feeling well?"
"No," Shao Yang quickly replied. "It’s just that your family is so enthusiastic. I... I was a bit overwheld."
Her spirits lifting sowhat, Sanbao smiled. "Got scared?"
Shao Yang forced a smile. "No, just a bit surprised."
Sanbao yawned. "Sit here for a bit. I’m going to my room to tidy up."
Seeing how sleepy she was, Shao Yang said, "You should go get so sleep. I’ll just sit here for a while."
Sanbao didn’t stand on ceremony. "Fine, I’ll go take a nap. Make yourself at ho." Then she added, "But you’d better not stay in my room. Go downstairs and wait."
Shao Yang stiffened. "Ah, right, of course."
I’ve faced far greater challenges before. Am I really going to be intimidated by this?
After composing himself, Shao Yang went downstairs. This ti, he saw a man slightly older than himself encircled by relatives. The man stood his ground, a rigid smile on his face that betrayed a subtle sense of bewildernt.
How strange. Could he be another guest?
Sibao spotted him coming downstairs. "Hey, where’s my sister?"
"She was too tired, so she’s gone to sleep," Shao Yang said. "Who’s that?"
"Him?" Sibao explained. "He’s my second sister’s boyfriend."
Shao Yang’s eyes lit up. It was as if he’d found a kindred spirit!
Shao Yang had been outside, but everyone called him back over to sit with them. He and Qin Jiang sat opposite each other, exchanging knowing glances and smiles.
"Hello, I’m Qin Jiang, Lin Tuantuan’s boyfriend."
"Hello, I’m Shao Yang, and I hope to be your third brother-in-law. It’s a Chinese na I chose for myself."
Qin Jiang raised an eyebrow, and Shao Yang gave a bitter smile and shook his head. Their silent exchange was clear.
He hasn’t won her over yet?
Not yet!
The family had only expected one guest but ended up with a buy-one-get-one-free deal—a truly unexpected delight. As noon approached, the relatives didn’t linger. After agreeing to all go out for hotpot that evening, they left one after another.
Qin Jiang glanced at the ti and said with a smile, "I think I’ll cook lunch today."
Hearing this, Shao Yang imdiately saw Qin Jiang in a new light.
Impressive, he can actually cook. But I can’t! As another potential son-in-law, I can’t look... inadequate!
Shao Yang smiled. "Let
help you."
Lin Feng started to head over to help but was stopped by the two n.
"Uncle, you should rest."
"Yes, Uncle, you rest. There are two of us here."
Lin Feng could only nod. "Alright then. Let us know if you need anything. We’re not picky eaters. Sothing simple is fine, even just noodles."
「In the kitchen.」
Qin Jiang had assud Shao Yang had so skills, given his confident deanor earlier. Who would have thought the man couldn’t cook at all? Even his attempts to help were clumsy.
Shao Yang explained that his family had a housekeeper. Apart from his school days, he had rarely cooked. Besides, their als abroad were simple, rotating through the sa few dishes that required no particular culinary skill. He had specifically sought out a chef to learn a few dishes in his pursuit of Sanbao, but he only learned simple recipes like scrambled eggs with tomatoes and sauce-fried pork belly. And he wasn’t very good at them, either.
In the end, the two of them decided to just boil so noodles and make a simple broth.
They didn’t know that Lin Feng and the others had been secretly observing them the whole ti. With his keen hearing, Lin Feng had listened to their entire conversation, not missing a single word. He was both amused and exasperated. It was normal for n like them not to know how to cook—one had to manage a corporation, and the other had to go on missions. They weren’t like him, a stay-at-ho dad for over twenty years.
Using it as an excuse to enter the kitchen, Lin Feng said, "I made so beef sauce. Why don’t you use it for the noodles?"
But when he looked, he saw there wasn’t much dried pasta left. Lin Feng decided it would be better to have so porridge instead. After several days of rich and greasy food, it was ti for sothing lighter. He put the porridge in a clay pot to simr slowly, preferring the distinct flavor it got from being cooked over a gentle fla compared to an electric rice cooker.
Next ca the stir-frying. Qin Jiang said it was no problem, as he knew how to make a few common ho-style dishes.
"Thank you for your hard work," Lin Feng said politely.
The two n insisted it wasn’t hard work, though they admitted they felt a bit useless.
Shao Yang’s job was to peel garlic, chop green onions, and wash vegetables. Qin Jiang was in charge of the stir-frying, skillfully flipping the wok.
Sibao ca over with a smile. "Do you need any help?"
The two declined the offer. The kitchen was large, but there was no need for so many people to cook just a few dishes.
Sibao felt a little bad. "Well, I’ll leave you to it. As the saying goes, ’a free al indebts you,’ so I’ll be sure to put in a good word for you two with my sisters."
Qin Jiang, confident he would win over Er Bao, simply smiled and thanked him, though he felt it was unnecessary.
Shao Yang, however, lacked Qin Jiang’s confidence and replied eagerly with a smile, "Then thank you, brother-in-law-to-be! If you ever need anything from
in the future, just say the word."
Lunch was simple but tasted quite good. Shao Yang candidly admitted he hadn’t been much help. He looked at Sanbao and added, "But I can learn when I have ti."
Sibao couldn’t resist reminding him, "Among all of us sisters, Sanbao is the best cook."
Shao Yang was speechless.
Sanbao had helped in the kitchen since she was young. Watching Lin Feng cook, she had absorbed his skills and beco an excellent chef herself. Aside from breakfast, the siblings usually cooked whenever they had ti.
In Lin Feng’s own words: "I’ve cooked for over twenty years. I want to rest a bit."
