Cook's stern words carried weight, though her disapproving gaze landed squarely on Cullen.

Cullen maintained his composure, unflinching under his grandmother's scrutiny. Without acknowledging her reproach, he reached for the serving spoon and transferred a generous portion of food onto Veronica's plate.

"Thank you," Veronica murmured softly.

Cook proceeded to explain that she had brought an entire collection of health supplents specifically for them. Her plans extended beyond dinner - she intended to personally supervise the preparation of several nourishing broths that would benefit both Veronica and Cullen's well-being.

Veronica found herself unable to decline such thoughtful attention and could only accept graciously with a nod.

Cook had lived in Winslet during her youth, where she had perfected the delicate technique of creating rich, nutrient-dense broths that simred for hours.

Following their al, Cook made her way directly to the kitchen, taking charge of instructing the household staff on the precise preparation of the dicinal soups. When Veronica attempted to assist, Cook firmly ushered her away from the cooking area.

With no alternative available, Veronica settled herself on the living room sofa.

Sabrina and Cullen occupied the sa space - Sabrina remained engrossed in solving her intricate Artisan's Puzzle while Cullen concentrated on his phone, managing business matters. An comfortable quietness filled the room.

During this peaceful mont, Dario contacted Veronica regarding a pressing work issue. Upon reading his ssage, she responded imdiately, becoming completely engrossed in their professional exchange.

Her concentration was so intense that she remained oblivious when Cook erged from the kitchen.

Cullen, however, had already set his phone down and was observing the scene.

Realizing the shift in atmosphere, Veronica quickly placed her phone aside. "Grandma."

Cook surveyed the three of them, released a weary sigh, and muttered under her breath, "All of you..."

Unable to formulate additional comntary, she positioned herself beside Veronica and inquired, "What had captured your attention so completely?"

"Simply so work-related discussions."

Cook made a dismissive sound and gestured in Cullen's direction. "Couldn't you discuss professional matters with him? Or does he serve rely as decorative furniture in this room?"

Veronica experienced a mont of paralysis. She refrained from ntioning her recent resignation from Dennis Group.

Her eyes sought Cullen's face.

His deanor appeared relatively pleasant, and he made no attempt to correct Cook's assumption or reveal that Veronica no longer maintained employnt with the company.

Perhaps his silence stemd from concern that Cook's discovery of this information would result in insistent demands for Veronica's return to Dennis Group.

Cook quickly transitioned to different subjects before encouraging both Veronica and Cullen to accompany her on an evening walk through the garden.

Following their leisurely stroll, Cook showed signs of fatigue. "I intend to take a relaxing bath and retire early. When the soup reaches completion, ensure you both consu it."

Veronica prepared to acknowledge this instruction when the underlying aning of Cook's statent suddenly beca clear. She paused uncertainly and directed her gaze toward Cullen.

Apparently anticipating her realization, Cullen stated matter-of-factly, "Grandma has decided to remain here for an extended period."

"What?" Veronica felt genuinely shocked by this revelation.

Cullen provided no additional explanation. "I need to spend ti in the study."

With that declaration, he departed without awaiting her response.

Sabrina bounded down the staircase and enthusiastically pulled Veronica upstairs, requesting assistance with her challenging Artisan's Puzzle.

Veronica devoted more than an hour to helping her before Chelsea appeared, carefully carrying a serving tray. "Mrs. Dennis, the soup has finished cooking."

Chelsea placed one of the bowls before her.

Veronica accepted it gratefully, responding, "Thank you very much."

"Mrs. Dennis Senior emphasized the importance of consuming it while the temperature remains hot."

"Certainly, I will."

Chelsea departed to deliver the second bowl to Cullen's location.

Veronica consud her nourishing soup completely before reminding Sabrina about her evening bath routine.

Since Cook would be spending the night, Veronica could no longer use Sabrina's room as her sleeping arrangent.

After Sabrina completed her bathing, Veronica made her way back to the master bedroom.

Cullen's absence indicated he remained occupied in the study.

Dario had forwarded additional docunts that still required her attention and review.

She managed to address a portion of them efficiently, though several complex issues demanded more careful consideration and analysis.

While contemplating these challenging problems, she moved toward the bathroom.

After completing her shower and changing into her sleepwear, she suddenly realized her oversight - she had forgotten to bring pajama pants with her.

The clothes she had worn previously had beco soaked while she was washing her face at the sink.

Veronica assud Cullen had not yet returned from his work session.

After a mont of hesitation, she carefully pushed open the bathroom door and stepped into the bedroom.

The instant she erged, her eyes t Cullen's direct gaze as he looked straight at her.
