A young nurse answered Veronica's question before the doctor could even open his mouth.

"The patient in Room 1003 is an elderly woman who fainted yesterday because of high blood pressure," she explained eagerly. "The tests showed nothing serious, actually."

The nurse continued with a hint of annoyance in her voice, "She could have gone ho right away, but her family insisted she stay for observation—two more days. She's quite demanding, refused a regular ward and specifically requested a VIP room."

Leaning in slightly, the nurse lowered her voice. "Her family was incredibly pushy about it. Our VIP section has been completely booked lately, but they're connected to soone with influence. After a few phone calls from this important person, they simply took over a room that was already reserved for soone else..."

The nurse might have continued her gossiping if not for the doctor beside her clearing his throat pointedly, concerned about who might be listening. She imdiately stopped talking.

Veronica processed this information with so relief. They would be leaving tomorrow. That reduced the chances of Rose encountering anyone from the Crystal or Mack families. Still, sothing nagged at her.

What worried her most was the possibility of soone deliberately seeking out her mother to cause trouble. The thought made Veronica's stomach tighten with anxiety.

"My mother is currently in a fragile ntal state," Veronica explained to the dical staff, unable to hide the concern in her voice. "She can't handle emotional disturbances right now."

She fixed them both with an unwavering stare. "Please monitor everyone entering and leaving her room carefully. Only familiar hospital staff and a few family mbers should be allowed inside without explicit permission. And if anyone inquires about my mother's condition, I need to be notified imdiately."

The doctor nodded reassuringly. "Of course, Ms. Murray. We'll take every precaution, don't worry."

Despite the doctor's confidence, Veronica couldn't shake her uneasiness. If she had been investigating the Crystal and Mack, they were almost certainly doing the sa to her. The most troubling possibility was that they already knew why she and Mary were at the hospital.

anwhile, across the hospital, Jade lay in her own bed, having just received a brief visit from Claude before he left for so business engagent. The mont he was gone, Aurora wasted no ti sharing what she'd witnessed earlier.

"I saw Veronica and Mary in the corridor," Aurora reported, her eyes gleaming with intrigue.

They both quickly arrived at the sa conclusion: Rose must be the patient. But what exactly was wrong with her?

Determined to confirm her suspicions, Aurora casually questioned Jade's nurse. "I believe we spotted Dr. Carson earlier. They must have pulled strings to get her here. Do you happen to know what condition the patient is suffering from?"

"Multiple organ failure," the nurse replied matter-of-factly. "It's quite severe."

Aurora and Jade exchanged satisfied smiles at this news. They both knew that multiple organ failure typically offered little hope for recovery. In other words, Rose might soon be—

Aurora pressed further, wanting absolute confirmation. "The patient's family seed familiar. Would their surna be Murray? And is the patient nad Rose?"

"Yes," the nurse confird. "You know them?"

"Oh, indeed," Aurora answered with a practiced smile. "We're old acquaintances." She paused briefly before adding, "With multiple organ failure, I imagine there isn't much ti remaining, is there?"

The nurse shook her head. "That would normally be the case, but they have powerful connections. They brought in Dr. Carson, who's known for performing miracles. Surprisingly, the recovery prospects are looking quite favorable now."

The smiles on Aurora and Jade's faces dimd noticeably at this unexpected news.

After the nurse departed, Aurora couldn't contain her bitterness. "They're really getting off far too easily," she sneered, her voice dripping with resentnt.

"That girl has benefited enormously from attaching herself to Dario," she muttered under her breath.

If Veronica hadn't known Dario, Rose might have already—

Penny remained silent throughout the exchange, but her brows gradually knitted together in deep contemplation.
