Chapter Twenty Eight
"CO HERE! LET’S PLAY!" Li Yu roared through gritted teeth. The green-haired Li Yu blinked. Then tilted his head slightly. You don’t seem like you want to play.
His voice remained perfectly calm. In fact, you look as though you cannot wait to kill . The clone paused. Then narrowed his eyes slightly. Though his face remained composed, sothing hidden flashed through those erald eyes. Wariness. Perhaps even caution.
After all, despite how irrational Li Yu appeared right now... There was a very real possibility that he might actually charge over and attempt to punch his own clone into the next mountain range.
Liyu removed his hand from the mountain wall, his grin widening. "No, no, no. Why would you think I would hurt myself? Don’t you know I would feel the pain as well?" Liyu said, lying straight through his teeth.
Hey Host, stop lying. You wouldn’t feel a thing. "Shut up, Sys." Liyu replied angrily in his head while giving the green-haired Liyu a bright and warm smile. "Hey, co on, dude. Just a small ga."
The clone imdiately shook his head. "No. You are clearly trying to kill . Or at the very least beat close to death." "And what is your proof of that?" Liyu asked. The other Liyu pointed directly at his face. Liyu’s expression was currently that of an angry predator whose prey had just destroyed his most treasured possession.
That kind of rage was both rare and dangerous. Liyu gave a shrug, his gaze relaxing slightly as he spoke. "No, I won’t kill you. Maybe break a bone or two." The green-haired Liyu looked genuinely confused. "But why? I didn’t do anything wrong." Liyu shot him a sideways glance.
"Really? Okay. Tell what I did wrong." The clone folded his arms. Liyu imdiately started listing them. "I complinted your clothes, and you responded by saying that you liked my clothes."
Liyu pointed at himself. "I am practically naked for fuck’s sake! And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. I complinted your calm presence and said it was impressive. And you responded with, your presence is the worst I’ve ever seen. Then there was the thing about your composure and accent. I said you sounded like a king. And you replied with, Well, because I am. Lest I forget the way you casually ntioned that I speak similarly to the psychotic villains you fought while bringing peace to your kingdom."
Liyu continued going on and on. The more examples he rembered, the more aggrieved he beca. Soon he had listed more than a dozen reasons why the green-haired version of himself deserved a brutal beating. After hearing all the accusations, the clone gave a small cough.
Then he simply said, "But I was telling the truth. Why are you getting so worked up over—" He never finished his sentence. Liyu’s claw shot straight toward his handso face. Liyu could swear he had almost torn that pretty face apart. But then—WHOOSH! Green lightning flickered.
The bastard disappeared. Only to reappear dozens of ters away. "Wait, you damn bastard!" Liyu cursed. The green-haired Liyu looked back while fleeing. "Why should I wait?" "So I can tear you apart!" Liyu shouted. The clone imdiately shook his head. "Actually, no. I don’t want to be torn apart. That sounds rather grueso."
And thus the chase continued. The clone fled. The original chased. One was calm and elegant. The other looked like a feral beast that had escaped captivity. Several minutes later, the chaos finally died down.
The waves within the spring slowly settled. Liyu sat atop the corpse of the Saber Panther. The green-haired clone stood several ters away. Liyu didn’t look like he intended to chase him anymore. Still, just to be safe, the clone maintained a healthy distance.
Liyu no longer paid his annoying clone any attention. Instead, he focused on the System and began exploring the rest of the newly unlocked features. After a while, he realized sothing. He had never given the green-haired brat a proper na.
Liyu fell into deep thought. Part of him considered giving the clone a ridiculous na as revenge. Sothing humiliating. Sothing stupid. Sothing that would haunt him forever. He seriously considered it. For nearly a minute.
Then he shook his head. No. That would only reflect poorly on himself as the original. After all, the clone was still technically him. Next he considered several flashy nas. Powerful nas. Cool nas. Legendary nas. Yet no matter what he ca up with, nothing felt right.
Eventually, he decided to keep things simple. Professional. Clean. "Rayden One." "That will do." The na was imdiately entered. Then right before Liyu’s eyes another notification appeared. Ding! Optimizing na for best effect and feel... Liyu blinked. "Wait, what?" A second later.
Ding! Na finalized. King Rayden. Lord of Verdant Lightning. Liyu’s face twitched. Even his own na wasn’t this over-glorified. "Damn System." Still, he didn’t complain. Not because he didn’t want to curse both the System and his clone. He absolutely did.
But because he noticed a small package icon attached to the newly assigned na. Curious, he clicked on it. Imdiately a new notification appeared.
Ding! New Skill Received! Skill: Montum. Rank: S. Description: Once activated, the Host’s base speed is tripled. Duration: Five minutes. While active, the Host can instantly stop all montum with a single thought regardless of travel speed.
Cooldown: Thirty minutes. Liyu blinked.
"Actually... That’s pretty good." Then he imdiately corrected himself. "No. That’s extrely good." With a skill like this, his mobility had just skyrocketed. His agility would beco absurd.
His battle flexibility would also increase trendously. Liyu grinned. "Hey Sys. Is this another reward for leveling up?" Honestly, leveling up was starting to feel like the greatest decision he had ever made. The System replied. Yes and no, Host. Every clone cos with a special reward skill.
Once their profile is finalized, as you did with King Rayden, the corresponding skill is awarded to the Host. Liyu raised an eyebrow. "So this skill ca from my green-haired self?" Not bad. Not bad at all.
Actually... It was amazing. Thinking about it now, the skill perfectly matched the clone’s specialty. The clone specialized in speed, movent, and lightning. Therefore the skill reflected that path. "Good." Liyu smiled.
Then he moved on to the remaining notifications he had skipped earlier due to being distracted by clone creation. Now that all that excitent was out of the way, he could finally examine the rest. As he scrolled through the notifications, he quickly noticed a pattern.
Ding! You gained 5 Strength Points for enduring a direct attack from an Apex Beast. Ding! You gained 5 Endurance Points for surviving the crushing grip of an Apex Beast.
Ding! You gained 15 Speed Points for outrunning an Apex Beast. Ding! You gained 20 Strength Points for defeating an Apex Beast. Ding! You gained 30 Intelligence Points for outsmarting two Apex Predators.
Ding! You gained 20 Will Points for surviving a brutal clash. And more. And more. And more. The notifications just kept coming. By the ti Liyu finished reading everything, he was fairly certain he had accumulated nearly two hundred stat points in total.
Then another prompt appeared. Host, would you like to use all available stat points to enhance your physical attributes? YES / NO. Liyu didn’t even hesitate. He selected YES.
Instantly all the points vanished from the screen. The next mont... A powerful surge erupted throughout his body. The sensation exploded through every muscle, every bone, every fiber of his being. Power. Pure power. Liyu could feel it. He could genuinely feel himself becoming stronger.
Much stronger. In just a few monts he estimated that he had beco at least fifteen percent stronger than before. Fifteen percent. That might not sound like much. But only if one didn’t understand how monstrous he already was.
For soone of Liyu’s level, a fifteen percent increase was absurd. Utter overkill. Liyu clenched and unclenched his fists. The grin on his face widened. "Now this... This is what I call a real power boost."
Several ters away, King Rayden suddenly frowned. For a brief mont, his instincts scread danger. An overwhelming sense of threat flashed through his mind. He turned and saw Liyu staring at him from the corner of his eye while smiling.
A very dangerous smile. Then the feeling disappeared as quickly as it had appeared. "I’ll get him later." Liyu muttered under his breath.
For now, however, he had sothing far more important to focus on. His gaze landed on the final feature unlocked after reaching Level One. The feature he had ignored until now.
The Shop.
