Chapter 439: Chapter 439: Twisted Values
A surge of anger welled up inside her, yet Tang Chuxia felt incredibly stifled, unable to release it.
She wanted to confront the issue, but she had no idea how to proceed.
It just felt so miserable.
“Besides, it all depends on what Uncle Wu decides to do. If he wants to pursue it, he can; if not, I’m afraid the matter will just fizzle out!”
Madam Tang patted Tang Chuxia on the shoulder, “The most troubleso matters in this world are family affairs!”
Tang Chuxia sighed.
She believed those words. Looking at the Wu Family, she guessed it wouldn’t be easy to resolve the situation.
With Madam Tang and Ah Duo taking care of the four children, Tang Chuxia and Gu Beihuai were almost left unbothered. By evening, they still went to the Wu Family’s ho.
Not for Wu Haipeng; according to custom, there should have been wedding room pranks at night.
But obviously, no one was going to engage in that now.
Due to Wu Haipeng’s wedding, a constant stream of Father Wu’s friends ca over, and relatives and friends from Mrs. Wu’s side as well to congratulate them, only to encounter this scandal.
Mrs. Wu was crying in the room, resolutely refusing to acknowledge those accusations.
Father Wu was still taking care of his own mother, completely ignoring Mrs. Wu.
As for Wu Haipeng, he was busy explaining to all the relatives and friends, as well as managing the household affairs. Even Dangdang changed clothes and ca out to help handle everything.
By the ti Tang Chuxia and Gu Beihuai arrived, most of the guests had left, the tables were removed, and the courtyard was left in disarray without an attempt to tidy up.
The couple, who should have had an unforgettable wedding ceremony, saw it utterly ruined by the incident.
Luckily, Dangdang didn’t take advantage of the situation to throw a fit and was very magnanimous, which comforted Wu Haipeng even more.
“What a ss this is!”
Wu Haipeng grabbed his hair, looking utterly dejected.
Now their family affairs had beco gossip fodder for the neighbors.
Qin Zhan patted Wu Haipeng’s shoulder, “At least the ceremony was finished, and there’s nothing your grandmother could do about it!”
If it hadn’t been for the wedding as a platform, perhaps Father Wu and Mrs. Wu would have suppressed the matter. Wouldn’t the people who committed suicide have suffered horribly?
Wu Haipeng rubbed his face, “I get it, this kind of ss would upset anyone. What upsets is, why did it only co out at this point?”
He too had once been a soldier, treating the defense of his country and service to the people as his beliefs. But now that he realized his own family was his greatest problem, the feeling of suffocation nearly destroyed all his good feelings for them.
Especially when he saw his mother, apparently not thinking she had done anything wrong, still crying over there and having her brothers back her up.
“I just don’t understand. If you look down on soone, why sleep with them? If you sleep with soone, you should own up to it, right? Who the hell helped deal with the aftermath in those tis? How could such a despicable man who abandoned his wife and child still have a good life?”
The key was that his mother even chose to marry his father.
How on earth were these two individuals’ moral principles ford?
Wu Haipeng felt that his life had been disgraced.
He couldn’t understand why any of this had happened.
Tang Chuxia and the others didn’t know how to comfort Wu Haipeng.
They had all grown up together and were aware of each other’s family situations. Wu Haipeng had always envied others for having grandparents around, but he hadn’t, always thinking there was no one left back in his ancestral ho.
And what was the result?
It was bad enough his father was a Chen Shii, but he turned out to be sheer trash.
The mother who he had always held in the highest regard turned out to be such a vicious woman.
Wu Haipeng’s worldview had been turned upside down. The fact that he hadn’t fallen apart was a testant to his inner strength.
Fortunately, Dangdang held his hand to show, “Don’t think too much. Now that it has happened, we need to handle the current situation well, at least so that grandma and the four nephews don’t continue to suffer.”
This was sound reasoning.
Haipeng rubbed his face and let out a deep sigh, “I’m just glad I’m retired. Otherwise, how could I face being a soldier!”
Beihuai reminded him, “You mustn’t get carried away with your thoughts. Now that you’re married, you have to hold up your family. Stay alert tonight, your parents haven’t even sat down to talk!”
This wasn’t a threat, it was a reminder.
Haipeng nodded.
He certainly understood Beihuai’s aning.
“I’m really afraid they’ll co to blows!” Haipeng knew he definitely couldn’t sleep tonight.
The wedding night had just faded away.
Who wouldn’t be frustrated?
Checking the ti, Beihuai told Haipeng not to worry about the four children, and they left the Wu Family’s ho.
Qin Zhan said to Beihuai, “Brother Huai, do you think sothing will really happen?”
Beihuai shook his head, “How would I know? This is Haipeng’s family matter!”
Even if there were troubles, with Haipeng there, at least no major disaster would occur!
But when they got ho, the family talked for a while, and seeing that it was getting late, they all went to rest.
In the middle of the night, a piercing scream cut through the night sky and woke those who had fallen deeply asleep.
Tang Chuxia was a heavy sleeper; she didn’t hear a thing, but Beihuai did. He always woke up easily.
Beihuai saw that Tang Chuxia didn’t wake up and didn’t call her either, quietly grabbing so clothes and leaving the room.
Outside, he saw Father Gu and Mrs. Gu also with clothes in hand.
“Could this be trouble at the Wu Family’s?” Father Gu asked softly.
Beihuai intended to go over and take a look.
Mrs. Gu cautioned him, “Then you be careful, and if there really is trouble, don’t get involved recklessly!”
Dostic affairs could be too tricky to navigate.
Beihuai led the way to the Wu family’s ho, and at the sa ti, Father Tang and Madam Tang from the Tang Family’s small courtyard also ca out.
Together, they approached the Wu Family’s gate and saw many people holding flashlights, looking into the yard through the open gate.
Without ti to ask what happened, Beihuai rushed in.
Just then, Qin Zhan also heard the noise and ran over; a few of them entered the Wu Family’s courtyard and saw Mrs. Wu lying in a pool of blood, with Father Wu and Haipeng beside her.
Haipeng was on the ground, covering Mrs. Wu’s wound, while Father Wu was coldly watching.
“What happened?”
Seeing this scene, Beihuai and Qin Zhan hurried forward to help treat the wound, truly fearing that it might be life-threatening.
Dangdang had already been frightened to the point of weakness, but fortunately, Madam Tang and Mrs. Gu rushed over to hold her, preventing her from collapsing to the ground.
“My mom stabbed herself!”
Haipeng glanced at the fruit knife thrown on the ground, his face full of fury.
Soone had already gone to call for a doctor.
It would take ti, though, and with a pale face, Mrs. Wu said to Father Wu, “I atone for my sin with my death; are you satisfied now?”
Father Wu hung his head low, and due to the lighting, his expression was unclear, but his voice could be heard clearly.
“Atone with death? Your self-punishnt trick is quite good, but I’m not sure if it’s calculated to target or your son?”
