Chapter 358: Chapter 358: Protecting the Young Calf
iyu collapsed into her sister-in-law’s embrace.
“I’m sorry, Jianbing—I’m so sorry!”
iyu had only this to say, and any normal person would feel pity for what she had endured.
Jianguo snapped, “You should be sorry—creating trouble for yourself but constantly pressuring my brother. You’re really sothing!”
iyu was on the verge of breaking down again, and seeing how pained Jianbing looked made Jianguo even angrier, to the point of cursing.
“Let tell you, the flood is coming and I don’t have ti to waste. To be blunt, if you keep seeking death or moping around, call off the marriage—we don’t harbor weaklings in our family!”
iyu dared not cry any longer.
Jianbing wanted to comfort her but had no idea what to say.
“Also, whatever was agreed upon previously, it will be honored as such. If you dare to take advantage of my brother’s kind nature and cause trouble, then let’s call off the marriage—what nerve!”
His words were directed at the Liu Family.
iyu just cried.
Jianguo really disliked it.
He had the least patience for won’s weeping and wailing.
Sure, being violated was pitiable; but if you can’t respect yourself, continuously wallowing in it while your family takes advantage to stir up trouble—who could stand that?
At least Jianguo didn’t like this future sister-in-law.
Seeing his elder brother so irritated, Jianbing asked iyu, “Do you still want to marry ?”
iyu covered her mouth and just cried without speaking.
Seeing iyu remain silent, Jianbing said, “Alright, I get it. Let’s call off the marriage then!”
He was quite decisive. iyu suddenly looked up and yelled, “I didn’t say that!”
Jianbing gave a bitter smile, “You can’t get over that hurdle in your heart. But I don’t want my family to suffer continual humiliation because of —this isn’t my doing, and I’ve done all I could!”
Jianbing turned to Jianguo, “Elder brother, let’s go.”
Indeed, it must be so kind of retribution that his elder brothers were still unmarried and he was rushing into marriage first.
He had made up his mind—if his second brother didn’t marry, he definitely wouldn’t either.
The hell with dating— he wasn’t deserving!
Jianguo noticed the changes in Jianbing’s deanor and frowned deeply.
But since Jianbing had brought up calling off the marriage, he was certainly going to support him to the end.
Soone like iyu, unable to hold her own, was truly not suited to be a daughter-in-law of the Tang Family.
Because the other daughters-in-law, no matter the fuss, had confidence. At least they wouldn’t inconvenience the Tang Family.
The Liu Family was too petty.
Why worry if you’ve been wronged? Those beasts deserve to die, not young ladies to suffer so. We’ve made it clear that we didn’t care, but she’s still here sobbing and wailing.
Grief and anguish are understandable; even trauma is, but you have to speak up.
Jianbing had lost more than ten pounds from the tornt—who knew who the real victim was.
Jianguo kicked at the door of the Liu Family ho, “Once the flood is over, we’ll co to call off the engagent!”
To be cursed was one thing; wanting to be related to this family was another.
The Liu Family panicked—they had been so certain the Tang Family was honorable and wouldn’t call off the engagent, which is why they had kicked up such a storm. Now, they were afraid.
But the Liu Family couldn’t catch up to the two Tang brothers and could only go ho to complain.
iyu had cried herself to the brink of passing out.
“Cry, cry, cry, that’s all you know how to do, what’s there to cry about?”
iyu’s older brother roared before kicking the courtyard door, clearly frustrated.
iyu continued to weep.
She was genuinely in distress.
“Big brother, I don’t want to call off the marriage!”
Marrying Tang Jianbing had been her best choice, but now, that possibility was gone.
Brother Liu scolded, “You don’t want to call off the marriage, then why didn’t you say anything earlier? Why were you silent before?”
iyu broke into another bout of heavy crying.
“Alright, alright, the Tang Family won’t really call off the marriage. They were so enthusiastic when the marriage was arranged!” Sister-in-law Liu was still optimistic, but the Liu Parents thought it was wishful thinking.
Who would want a girl who has been defiled as their daughter-in-law?
Wasn’t that just openly inviting ridicule?
iyu felt utterly miserable and cried out to Brother Liu and Sister-in-law Liu, “It’s all your fault, I said I didn’t want their things, but it was you who insisted I demand them!”
Brother Liu cursed and muttered, believing that iyu didn’t appreciate the good intentions of others. Who else was he doing these things for?
But iyu didn’t care, she only knew her own plight was especially tragic.
Of course, Tang Jianbing was unaware of these things, rely following his older brother Jianguo with his head drooping. Seeing his brother looking so dejected only fueled Jianguo’s anger.
“What’s wrong? Do you still want to marry her?”
Tang Jianbing held his tongue.
It had been the woman he loved who had suffered such an ordeal, who wouldn’t be upset?
But the quieter he was, the more it ignited Tang Jianguo’s anger.
He wished he could crack open his brother’s head to see what was really inside, to understand why he could be so foolish.
“Big brother, I want to join the military!”
His mind was in chaos. If he continued working at the factory, he’d inevitably encounter iyu, and he didn’t want to face that.
Tang Jianguo sighed.
Three out of the four Tang brothers were already in the military. If Little Four enlisted too, there would be no one left to take care of their parents at ho.
He opened his mouth, wanting to disagree, but he could see Tang Jianbing was truly disheartened and wanted to move sowhere else.
“Let’s go back ho, we’ll talk after the flood is over!”
Tang Jianguo didn’t dare to make any promises now; all he could do was take Tang Jianbing to their grandmother’s house.
That night, the floodwaters surged back, throwing the city into chaos. Fortunately, the Tang Family had all gone to the Zheng Family’s place, which was a higher-lying Western-style building, temporarily safe from harm.
However, by the end of the night, the city was subrged in water.
Tang Jianguo and his family worried about Tang Chuxia outside the city, while Chuxia was thinking about how she could get the girl in front of her to stop clinging to Gu Beihuai.
Beihuai was even more distraught than Chuxia; he hadn’t anticipated that after saving the girl, instead of clinging to Chuxia, she clung to him.
If there hadn’t been so many onlookers, Beihuai would have doubted his ability to explain himself.
“Miss, please let go, I have a wife!”
Beihuai was desperate, trying to reason with the girl, but she relentlessly gripped his clothes and glued her eyes onto him.
Tang Chuxia, however, was not angry; she realized sothing was off with the girl. Although when Beihuai was rescuing people, Gou Ya joked about the girl offering herself in gratitude, those present didn’t take it seriously.
The situation was urgent; physical contact during a rescue wasn’t a problem, and at the ti, Chuxia was just livening up the mood by saying a few things about Beihuai.
The young and old n on-site all laughed along, seeing that Chuxia’s character was good and she genuinely didn’t mind, thinking it was just Gou Ya and a few young guys stirring up trouble for fun.
But now that the girl had woken up and recognized only Beihuai, the jokes stopped.
“Wife, help !”
