No matter what Tang Chuxia and Gu Beihuai were up to here, the rain outside showed no signs of stopping.

Half an hour had passed, and the rain had subrged many low-lying areas, obstructing visibility.

Everyone was anxiously waiting for the heavy rain to stop.

Unfortunately, the rain was as if it hadn’t heard, showing no sign of weakening—in fact, it was getting even heavier.

It was simply defying everyone’s common sense.

Tang Chuxia felt so concern; she had never known that heavy rain could be so terrifying.

In her previous life, she had never seen such heavy rain—perhaps it was related to the era she lived in. Even if there was heavy rain, it would quickly drain through the drainage system, and large amounts of water on the ground were rarely seen.

At this ti, the drainage system was poor, and so places didn’t have it at all.

When the water started coming into the rooms, the experts had no choice but to declare that this rain would last a while longer, and they estimated that it was only a matter of ti before the city would be subrged.

This was the ti for the people in the city to prepare for disaster.

Tang Chuxia worried about her family. Knowing that Tang Jianguo had already returned ho, Gu Beihuai reminded her, "With Big Brother at ho, there is no need to worry about safety. Even if the city gets subrged by the rainwater, it won’t be a problem for the ti being."

Tang Chuxia sighed. She was an educated person, alright, but there was no ntion of this flood disaster in the books she read, since the storyline at this point didn’t include it.

So oftentis, it’s really difficult to grasp the specific circumstances of the tis just by reading novels.

While Tang Chuxia was still reflecting, the rain grew more outrageous, forcing them to relocate.

People outside took turns stacking sandbags, but unfortunately, it was of little use—the speed at which the water was rising was too fast.

"Head to higher ground!"

Quan City was surrounded by many hills; escaping the flood wasn’t a problem, but getting there was.

People were building rafts.

Tang Chuxia looked at such primitive ans of transport with so emotion.

At this ti, one couldn’t expect too much.

But she had just encountered the rain and shuddered—so cold!

It was just after the New Year, and it hadn’t even been fifteen days!

This damned flood seed intent on killing people.

Yet, she hadn’t expected the rain to be outrageous enough; by nightfall, the rain had stopped, turning into snowflakes.

It was as though they weren’t ant to have a good ti.

Tang Chuxia rubbed her hands, feeling her body nearly freeze numb.

Many people cried.

Rain during the day, snowflakes at night, and it was heavy snow. Was this the end of the world?

Tang Chuxia didn’t know, and neither did anyone else—the water on the ground was quickly freezing over.

But just a thin layer of ice on the surface wasn’t strong enough to support a person. To leave, they would have to break the thin ice, which brought even more difficulties.

Tang Chuxia was settled at a collection point by Gu Beihuai, and many people started coughing and getting feverish. Tang Chuxia was just an acupuncturist; under these conditions, colds and fevers still required dicine.

But there was no dicine!

Tang Chuxia thought of a rustic solution.

As long as people could warm up and sweat, even those who caught chills could get better.

She then taught everyone how to pinch the skin—though it was painful, the effect was imdiate. One pinching session would induce a slight sweat; after three tis, few remained who didn’t sweat.

This had so effect on those with high fevers.

Then there was scraping therapy. Since no dicine had co, Tang Chuxia really used every thod she could think of.

If it weren’t for the fact that her body couldn’t withstand the loss of blood, she would have even considered using her own blood as dicine.

Fortunately, they could still boil water, and so people had brought so dicine with them, so they managed to get through the first night.

The heavy snow lasted all night.

The next day, when it was slightly bright, everyone realized that everything wasn’t covered in white but was still water with broken ice, and going into the water was akin to mistreating one’s own body.

Fortunately, the heavy snow had stopped, and the sun had co out.

The muddied water was frightening.

Tang Chuxia, rubbing her sore back, erged to see nothing but a vast expanse of water.

It was truly terrifying.

She rubbed her hands together and wanted to go back to see how Madam Tang was doing.

Just then, soone ca by boat, and Tang Chuxia wanted to board and return ho, but many people were afraid to let her take the risk.

"Dr. Tang, you simply can’t go! We’re all counting on you here!"

Soone shouted, and more people grabbed hold of Tang Chuxia.

After all, even a half-baked doctor like her was still a doctor, definitely better than having no doctor at all.

Their place needed a doctor to take charge of the situation.

Tang Chuxia almost wanted to cry; she had only silver needles and not a single bit of dicine left. What could she possibly do here?

It might have been better for her to leave.

But she dared not voice that thought, so she could only be watched over by everyone, afraid she’d run off—convicts weren’t even looked after like this.

When Gu Beihuai saw Tang Chuxia’s pitiful squatting figure, he almost couldn’t help but laugh.

Who knew she could be such a coward?

Indeed, the power of the masses was formidable.

Thankfully, these people were also worried Tang Chuxia might feel psychologically burdened and tried to console her, "Dr. Tang, although we don’t have any dicine here, you’re the only doctor. Plus, we only have people suffering from colds, not injuries. Those thods you ntioned, we can do them ourselves—you’re like a pillar to us!"

Tang Chuxia: ...

What a pillar indeed.

Tang Chuxia felt she was like Sun Monkey needing a pillar to suppress her.

Gu Beihuai held back his laughter, fearing Tang Chuxia couldn’t take it.

Under Tang Chuxia’s pleading gaze, Gu Beihuai coughed lightly, "Right, right, my wife is indeed amazing. As long as you’re here to hold the fort, no evil spirits will dare co near!"

Many of the elders slapped their thighs, "Exactly, the thods Dr. Tang taught us worked wonders. The people with fever and coughs last night, they’re all better now, aren’t they?"

Tang Chuxia rubbed her face.

Feeling like if they kept on, she would almost turn into a lucky koi.

Absurd!

Tang Chuxia went to pinch Gu Beihuai, and he let out a dramatically pained cry.

It amused many of the onlookers.

Fortunately, at that mont soone outside shouted that a person had fallen into the water.

Gu Beihuai put away his jokes, for in such bone-chillingly cold water, if soone soaked for a while, they might not die but surely suffer greatly.

They paddled the raft out to rescue the person, while Tang Chuxia stretched her neck alongside the others at the door to watch.

But she couldn’t see anything.

"Ah, I see it!"

A young man standing at a higher spot shouted.

The others asked him what he saw and what the situation was with the person who fell in.

The young man put his hands over his forehead and looked out.

After a long while, he shouted, "Oh my, it’s a girl!"

This wasn’t a problem, but then the young man yelled again, "Goodness gracious, that girl has clung to Dr. Tang’s man!"

Tang Chuxia stood up suddenly.

Had the peach blossoms blood here?

She tried to jump up to see clearly who the girl clinging to Gu Beihuai was, but unfortunately, the water was abundant, and her view obstructed.

"Mommy, they’re kissing!!!"
