Chapter 259: Chapter 259: Marry ?

“What does that an?”

Gu Nanzhi perked up her ears, “Speak!” She looked at Tang Chuxia, waiting for her to continue, but Tang Chuxia cleared her throat, “If I say that my relationship with your brother is serious, would you believe ?”

Gu Nanzhi burst out laughing, “Xiaxia, you really know how to cheer up!”

Tang Chuxia forced a laugh, her expression incredibly insincere.

Seeing Tang Chuxia laughing along, Gu Nanzhi indicated, “I knew you were just trying to cheer up!”

Tang Chuxia rubbed her face. What else could she say at this point? She just had to accept it.

The two mothers made polite conversation for a while before finally starting to discuss the engagent. Tang Chuxia then took Gu Nanzhi out: “Where’s your brother?”

Gu Nanzhi shrugged, “No idea, he went out early this morning!”

Even if Tang Chuxia was curious, she couldn’t find him.

She had no choice but to give up.

Gu Nanzhi dragged Tang Chuxia to her own room: “I heard Yang Chao went to your place, everything okay? How’s that bargain of a sister of yours doing?”

These past few days had been so hectic that Tang Chuxia hadn’t even had ti to think about Tang Wanqiu.

There was also the warning third sister-in-law had given Yang Chao about Tang Wanqiu—she hadn’t seen anyone today.

Just as she was thinking about this, licorice ca to call for her, saying Yang Chao and Tang Wanqiu had arrived.

Really, shouldn’t jinx it. Madam Tang could only take Tang Chuxia back with her.

Yang Chao had people move things into the courtyard while he himself was talking to Father Tang.

Father Tang’s expression was really complex, extrely difficult to describe.

Yang Chao then diverted his attention from Father Tang and approached Madam Tang, “As compensation, I’ve brought a piece of news!”

Caught off guard, Madam Tang heard Yang Chao say, “He’s back!”

Madam Tang didn’t react at first, then suddenly smiled.

“What’s that got to do with ? I’m busy arranging my daughter’s engagent right now!”

No sooner had Madam Tang finished speaking, Tang Wanqiu, who had been used as a human shield, suddenly burst out to question, “What do you an? Who is Tang Chuxia going to marry? Surely it can’t be Hu Mingcheng?”

Tang Chuxia had a headache. Couldn’t get past this?

What’s so great about Hu Mingcheng? Why should she care?

The last thing Madam Tang wanted was Tang Wanqiu’s interruption, t now with Yang Chao’s icy look.

Tang Wanqiu could be brash, but she turned timid in front of Yang Chao.

“It’s none of your business!” Yang Chao finished, and Tang Wanqiu took a step back, while Madam Tang humd in agreent.

“Hu Mingcheng is nothing to fight over,” Tang Chuxia pointed out, and Tang Wanqiu fell silent.

Yang Chao laughed, “Is it the Gu Family’s young man?”

Madam Tang nodded, “Yes, these two kids are together now, and as parents, we have to worry about them!” Just as she finished her sentence, Tang Wanqiu, possibly overwheld by shock, looked straight at Tang Chuxia.

Tang Chuxia chuckled, looking at Tang Wanqiu’s expression and finding it incredibly amusing, feeling the urge to pinch her.

But her rationality was still there. She wouldn’t really do that.

It seed Madam Tang wanted to show off, but Yang Chao didn’t want to talk about it. Instead, he brought Tang Wanqiu over to make his stance clear and incidentally inford Madam Tang about a piece of news.

Without any pleasantries, Madam Tang asked them to leave.

Tang Chuxia was not mindless; she leaned into Madam Tang curiously, “Mom, who’s here?”

“Who else could it be? Her fiancé!”

With that sour tone of voice, Tang Chuxia looked over and saw Father Tang.

His look of silent resentnt was simply too much.

“Shut up!” Madam Tang shouted, only to provoke an even more sullen expression from Father Tang.

He wished he could go and have a showdown with that person right now.

Tang Chuxia looked around, desperately trying to understand the tension between them, but alas, she just couldn’t figure it out.

“Mom, how is that person? Are they married? Did they co here to confess or to show off?” Tang Chuxia had imagined a lot of scenarios, mostly wondering about the person’s intentions.

Madam Tang was both curious and amused. “Don’t talk nonsense. At my age, what could I possibly do?”

Tang Chuxia thought for a mont and indeed couldn’t imagine what they could do, but that didn’t an the other party had no ideas of their own.

Especially with Father Tang’s wistful look, it was clear that person must hold significant weight in Madam Tang’s heart.

But with the year coming to an end, and Yang Chao bringing such news, she couldn’t help but feel his intentions were malicious.

Madam Tang scoffed, “Even if I could do sothing, it wouldn’t involve that person!”

Father Tang, although he always pretended not to care, kept his ears pricked up and was listening intently. When Madam Tang declared that nothing would happen, he sighed in relief.

Tang Chuxia felt her father was really embarrassing and shook her head, preparing to leave.

“But all these years, you’ve still had them on your mind!” Father Tang yelled and Tang Chuxia, who had been about to leave, sat back down.

Her eyes were afla with gossip.

She looked at Father Tang.

Due to his agitation, he stood in front of Madam Tang. “After all these years, you don’t actually think I’m oblivious, do you? If it wasn’t for that guy getting cold feet, you definitely wouldn’t have married !”

Madam Tang hmm’d. “If you want a divorce, just say so. I agree!”

Father Tang: …

After a lengthy standoff, Father Tang ran off.

Before leaving, he didn’t forget to shout, “In your dreams! I will never divorce you. It’s absolutely impossible for you to reunite with that guy!”

Father Tang had left, and seeing Madam Tang’s face remain completely unfazed, Tang Chuxia ventured, “Is Dad feeling inferior?”

Madam Tang laughed derisively. “When has he ever not felt inferior?”

That was quite the statent.

Tang Chuxia agreed with Madam Tang; Father Tang probably epitomized the ntality of an inadequate son-in-law to perfection.

Humiliating!

Nevertheless, this piqued Tang Chuxia’s curiosity even further, but Madam Tang was uncooperative and sent her away. “You go out too, see if you can buy so new clothes. You don’t even know to wear new clothes for the New Year!”

Tang Chuxia acknowledged with an “oh” and leisurely went to find Gu Beihuai.

Being at ho had not been easy for Gu Beihuai either. Since he had duped Tang Chuxia, Mrs. Gu had nearly trained Gu Beihuai into a dog.

After Tang Chuxia told Mrs. Gu that she wanted to go shopping for clothes with Gu Beihuai, Mrs. Gu promptly pushed Beihuai out the door.

“Go on, then!”

Gu Beihuai: …

“Rember to buy Xiaxia a few outfits. If you don’t take good care of Xiaxia and make her comfortable, don’t bother coming back!” Mrs. Gu ordered directly.

Gu Beihuai gritted his teeth, half-heartedly dragged away by Tang Chuxia.

Once they left the alley, Tang Chuxia burst into laughter, clutching her stomach. “Gu Beihuai, you’ve finally t your match today!”

Gu Beihuai sneered, “My today is your tomorrow!”

Tang Chuxia stopped laughing, rubbing her stomach and adjusting her mood. “Seriously though, you really don’t want to marry ?”

Gu Beihuai looked at her, his eyes full of inquiry.

Tang Chuxia let him look; she was confident in her appearance.

“Do you really want to marry ?”

Gu Beihuai retorted, and Tang Chuxia imdiately nodded. “Yes! What’s wrong with marrying you?”
