Chapter 217: Chapter 217 This is not the truth

“I’m dead tired!”

Tang Chuxia collapsed on the chair, and upon seeing Elder Huang and Gu Beihuai return, she launched into a litany of complaints.

She wasn’t a real doctor after all, yet she had ended up doing so much work.

Elder Huang looked at the cashbox on the table and saw that it indeed contained a lot more money.

He was very satisfied.

“You have a real talent, why don’t you follow and study traditional Chinese dicine?”

Elder Huang waited for Tang Chuxia to agree, but Tang Chuxia shook her head like a rattle-drum.

“Forget it, please just let off, Elder. I’m not like my brothers; I really don’t understand it. I don’t want to cause harm!”

Tang Chuxia refused imdiately, and the smile on Elder Huang’s face disappeared. Pointing to the door, he said, “Get out, you ungrateful thing!”

Tang Chuxia dragged Gu Beihuai and ran out.

Otherwise, if she had stayed, it would have just upset Elder Huang.

She was very kind-hearted, after all.

Once outside, Tang Chuxia asked about Wu Haipeng’s condition and learned from Elder Huang that there was hope for him and there was no need for Tang Chuxia to beg Lin Qingchen as she had suggested.

“Elder Huang said Lin Qingchen doesn’t even have that dicine, you’re trying to set up!”

Gu Beihuai’s tone was unfriendly. He had always suspected Tang Chuxia was up to sothing, and Elder Huang’s confirmation only strengthened his belief.

Tang Chuxia stepped back two paces and looked at him defensively, “That’s not fair. Why would I set you up? We’re all here for Brother Haipeng, aren’t we?”

She was also puzzled; she clearly rembered the book saying Wu Haipeng’s leg was crippled, but he didn’t seem to have any issues at all.

Gu Beihuai scoffed, “Don’t give that. How could we be unclear about Haipeng’s leg? You better tell the truth, do you want to see and Lin Qingchen fight?”

Tang Chuxia was helpless, just as she was about to explain to Gu Beihuai, she saw Liu ijuan and quickly dragged him to follow her.

Gu Beihuai knew what mattered most and didn’t make things difficult at this ti.

Liu ijuan seed in a hurry to et soone, not looking around at all and just kept moving, which made it easy for them to follow behind.

What they didn’t expect was for Liu ijuan to et with Mrs. Hu.

Gu Beihuai and Tang Chuxia exchanged glances, both sensing sothing was amiss.

Why would those two be together?

Hiding by the wall to eavesdrop, both of them had excellent hearing and could clearly understand the contents of the conversation.

Tang Chuxia turned to Gu Beihuai, “I rember last ti you said that if Liu ijuan’s first step of using her elder brother to get involved failed, there would be a second step. Is this it now?”

Gu Beihuai pinched her cheek, “Are you pretending? Do you really need to act? Can’t you see what’s going on by now?”

Tang Chuxia shook her head, she truly didn’t understand the role Liu ijuan was playing in all this.

Gu Beihuai pointed at Liu ijuan and Mrs. Hu, “Last ti, you guys guessed that there was soone behind the Liu Family backing them. Now she’s appeared; it’s Hu Mingcheng’s mother.”

They had heard Liu ijuan and Mrs. Hu’s conversation, which was about how to discredit Tang Chuxia and to also spread rumors about Tang Wanqiu to ruin her reputation as well.

“Are you saying that Hu Mingcheng’s goal is to tarnish Tang Wanqiu’s reputation so that she’ll end up marrying him?”

Tang Chuxia was sowhat uncertain, and Gu Beihuai nodded, “You could say that. But have you noticed that Tang Wanqiu is not without brains?”

Tang Chuxia had noticed this point long ago, thanks to Tang Jianguo’s tracking.

“Sothing’s definitely afoot with the Hu Family. Liu ijuan is just a pawn, to be used and discarded!” Gu Beihuai’s face was a picture of cunning.

“Too bad the Liu siblings think that their connection with the Hu Family is their golden ticket to success!”

Gu Beihuai’s words reminded Tang Chuxia, and she rembered the affair between Liu ijuan and Hu Mingcheng, with all its plot holes in her emotional storybook.

She grabbed Gu Beihuai’s hand, “Do you think I should pretend to just pass by and scare them?”

Gu Beihuai looked at her as if she were an idiot, which made Tang Chuxia’s face darken.

That look was full of mockery, and Tang Chuxia understood without him saying a word.

Since she couldn’t ss with the two of them, Tang Chuxia decided she wasn’t going to let the matter slide so easily. She had to do sothing.

As luck would have it, as Liu ijuan finished chatting with Mrs. Hu and they prepared to go their separate ways, Tang Chuxia followed Liu ijuan.

She didn’t want to move against Mrs. Hu just yet, but as for Liu ijuan, she had no qualms whatsoever. Who told that woman she needed to be put in her place?

Tang Chuxia didn’t allow Gu Beihuai to show up, and she caught up with Liu ijuan, using the paper bag she had at hand to cover Liu ijuan’s head and pull the woman into a dead-end alley.

Liu ijuan struggled violently, but she was no match for Tang Chuxia.

She soon realized that struggling blindly might lead to sothing bad and could only plead with a sobbing voice.

Crouching down, Tang Chuxia patted Liu ijuan’s cheek, lowered her voice, and altered her tone to ask, “Do you know why we caught you?”

How could Liu ijuan know? She was in complete panic at the mont, afraid of being robbed or worse—wouldn’t that be the end of her?

Especially when she heard the coarse voice, she shivered with fright and pleaded, “Comrade, please, have rcy. What do you want? I’ll give it to you, just don’t kill !”

Tang Chuxia was amused but careful not to reveal her real voice. Adjusting it slightly, she roughed up her voice and bellowed, “I’m not a murderer, what are you blabbing about? I just want to ask you a few questions!”

Liu ijuan, her hands and feet bound and her head covered in paper, was utterly panicked on the inside.

“Tell why you’re taking orders from Hu Mingcheng’s mother?”

Liu ijuan’s heart raced even faster. Since soone asked her right after she t Hu Mingcheng’s mother, they must have seen it.

Instinctively, she wanted to lie, but when she heard Tang Chuxia’s sinister voice, “Lie to , and I’ll separate your head from your body right away!”

Thinking she was dealing with a kidnapper, Liu ijuan feared they’d truly harm her, her tears flowing freely.

Tang Chuxia was getting impatient, and Liu ijuan quickly stopped crying.

“My aunt promised 500 taels, as long as I could bring trouble to the Tang Family, and she’d help secure a job position!”

So that was it—a huge temptation.

Tang Chuxia sneered, patted Liu ijuan’s face, and although the paper bag prevented a direct slap, it would still hurt.

“Was it Hu Mingcheng’s mother’s idea, or did Hu Mingcheng himself want this to happen?”

Liu ijuan imdiately betrayed Hu Mingcheng.

So Hu Mingcheng himself was part of the sche.

Rubbing her chin, Tang Chuxia knew that Hu Mingcheng bore ill will towards the Tang Family but on what basis?

“And all these ideas were helped along by Tang Wanqiu. Comrade, please let go, I don’t know anything.”

Liu ijuan continued to plead. Tang Chuxia delivered a karate chop to knock her out cold and looked up at Gu Beihuai, “What do you think?”

Gu Beihuai didn’t mock her but instead asked a question completely unrelated to the situation at hand.

“Do you still have feelings for Hu Mingcheng?”
