Chapter 22: Biochanical Prosthesis

In a secluded underground sewer of the Detroit City-State, Alice was engaged in battle with a group of chanical robots.

These robots emanated eerie blue eyes, their movents aggressive, constantly swinging electric saws in their hands, intending to dismber Alice.

Unfortunately for them, these robots’ movents were not swift enough, far inferior compared to Alice.

Not only did they fail to harm Alice, but they also took several of her punches and were kicked into a corner.

However, these robots were originally built to be tough. Alice launched several attacks against them but couldn’t inflict any damage. Even when knocked to the ground, they could “clank clank” their way back up to continue fighting, just like indestructible cockroaches.

Bang bang bang!

Gunshots rang out continuously as several bandits hiding behind the robots cursed, “This damned bitch, how can she be so agile?”

They were wielding handguns or shotguns, originally intending to brutally shoot Alice dead.

Unfortunately, Alice’s movents were extrely quick, allowing her to easily dodge the gunfire.

These people had completely beco masters of human outline drawing.

“Boss, use the dust bomb. If we fail this mission, our lives are hanging by a thread,” a young man said, casually handing over a tal ball.

“F*ck her mother!”

The bandit man cursed crudely and imdiately threw the tal ball forcefully.

Alice sensed danger and instantly retreated, but the tal ball imdiately dispersed a large amount of dust, followed by flas. A violent explosion occurred in the underground sewer.

“That bitch should be dead now, right?” The man, seeing the imnse power of the tal ball, swallowed hard, feeling that Alice must have been reduced to ashes.

But when the smoke cleared, they found Alice still standing there, only her limbs now exposed glowing tal chanics, her hair disheveled.

Although the explosion hadn’t severely injured her, it had still given her quite a shock.

“Damn it, she’s actually a modified human. No wonder she’s so agile. Bring

the RPG!”

The rough man cursed, casually taking out a makeshift RPG from a wooden box, aiming at Alice and preparing to pull the trigger.

At that mont, a flash of golden light passed by, and this man’s arm was severed, the cut extrely clean.

Even the RPG launcher was cut into two sections. Before everyone could react, flas suddenly burst from their bodies, instantly turning the gun-wielding bandits into human torches.

“Ahhh!!!”

These ard bandits scread in agony.

In a mont, the ammunition on their bodies was ignited by the flas, resulting in a brilliant suicide explosion, dying a miserable death.

The grueso fate of his companions chilled the heart of the one-ard man, cold sweat streaming down his forehead. He imdiately shouted:

“Do you know who’s backing ? It’s the renowned NASDAQ Group! If you steal their goods, you won’t be far from death!”

He was terrified and could only quickly reveal his background, hoping to make the opponent back off.

Unfortunately, as soon as he finished speaking, a huge fireball struck him, instantly detonating the ammunition on his body, causing him to die just as miserably.

As for those robots, a skull wielding a giant scythe suddenly appeared, and with a swing of the massive scythe, their heads were cleanly severed.

Emitting crackling blue electric arcs, the robots quickly lost power and collapsed on the ground.

Alice looked puzzled, wondering how this gang was suddenly eliminated.

However, when she saw a familiar silhouette, a smile appeared on her lips: “Luo Sheng!”

“Mm.”

Luo Sheng removed the cha helt he was wearing, revealing a confident smile.

But when he saw Alice’s broken body, his brows imdiately furrowed: “How did you end up in this state?”

“I’m sorry, I thought I could easily defeat them, and besides, they killed many good people,” Alice lowered her head, full of apology.

Luo Sheng rubbed her golden hair, looking at her delicate body with concern. These were all high-grade chanical prostheses, extrely expensive.

For a frugal good boy like him, it was like watching his money bleed away.

After just one battle, she ended up in this state. The repair costs would be substantial.

Alice seed to read his thoughts and took out Luo Sheng’s bounty hunter ID card, “There have been quite a few bounties recently, it should be enough, right?”

“Uh… are you the tapeworm in my belly?” Luo Sheng was stunned for a mont.

Alice also revealed a sweet smile.

Luo Sheng thought of the Macho Dance Troupe, and that line the bullet comnts loved most: “Your smile, I’ll protect it!”

Taking the ID card and illuminating the numbers inside, he found that the amount had reached 7 digits.

Luo Sheng couldn’t help but draw in a sharp breath. This was truly a role model for working people. Indeed, if workers are hardworking enough, the boss can not only drive luxury cars but also live in villas.

“This money is enough for you to upgrade your cha,” Alice said softly.

“Thank you,” Luo Sheng nodded heavily, then looked at her affectionately: “Don’t worry, I’ll do everything I can to help you recover your mory. No matter what obstacles lie ahead, I’ll help you overco them.”

Luo Sheng felt his words were very much like those of a scumbag.

Unfortunately, Alice believed his scumbag rhetoric, her lips forming a beautiful curve.

With a beaming smile, she said, “I trust you!”

Afterwards, the two of them, as if opening a treasure chest, opened the tal cabinet smuggled by this gang. Inside lay a strange body.

It had flesh and blood, and even without a head, the body could operate on its own, like living cells that had co to life, unchanging for eons.

They brought the tal box to Jack’s clinic.

Upon seeing this body, Dr. Jack imdiately frowned, “A biochanical prosthesis.”

Then he asked, “How did you obtain this?”

Alice briefly explained the course of events.

Luo Sheng then asked Dr. Jack, “Is there sothing wrong?”

“Very wrong. This is the pinnacle achievent of human technology from 50 years ago, and conversely, a tool for the rich. By connecting one’s body to this prosthesis, it’s equivalent to a person having infinite life and longevity. What’s more terrifying is its ability to self-repair and its extrely strong sense of danger perception.”

“Can a biochanical prosthesis be stronger than machinery?” Luo Sheng was puzzled.

After all, organisms are made of flesh and blood, while machines are made of steel. There’s a fundantal difference between the two.

Dr. Jack smiled, “It’s not strange for you to have such doubts, but what’s truly advanced is not machinery, but biology.

The computing power of an adult human brain can reach up to 150 quintillion operations per second, while a top-tier chanical electronic chip can only reach 1 trillion operations per second. You understand the difference, right?

Moreover, when machinery is damaged, it cannot self-repair, but organisms are different. They can not only self-repair but also have super strong adaptability, and can even continuously evolve unimaginable things.

Therefore, the first life forms that appeared in the universe were not chanical, but biological.

Besides, this biochanical prosthesis can make people immortal, rejuvenated, and even difficult to kill. How important is this to the top echelons of corrupt interest groups? Do you understand?”

Luo Sheng realized, “So, you an we’re about to be wanted?”

Dr. Jack nodded: “Correct. The NASDAQ Group not only controls Sky City but also 80% of the underground organizations in the City-State, and even includes the military and bounty hunter organizations. You’ve taken their treasure, who else would they hunt down if not you?”

Luo Sheng hadn’t expected to provoke such a behemoth.

The escape journey in the card world seed to be beckoning to him…
