Chapter 582: Happened to Hear It
The restroom was at the end of a long corridor past the bar; since Dark Night was one of the largest Gold-Sale Caves in Capital City, it naturally wouldn’t be shabby.
Even the restroom area of the bar was as richly decorated as a hotel’s. Rong Yan stood in front of the gilded sink, and just after turning on the faucet, she heard faint voices coming from around the corner.
“Has that money co through yet?”
“The initial sum has been transferred—but that man keeps pestering , insisting I release the person first. I tried to get him to swap soone for the release, but he evasively said there’s no child to exchange. He also said sothing about definitely transferring the remaining amount to the card. Does he think I’m an idiot? If I give the person back to him, would he not go to the police and still transfer the rest of the money to us?”
Child, money… Images of the cell phone recording that Rong Nanfeng had let her listen to flashed through Rong Yan’s mind.
She was almost sure she had found the right people!
It sounded like the people speaking were near the corner close to the VIP area, well-hidden, and given the crowd in the bar, it’s no wonder she hadn’t seen any suspicious individuals before.
“But that damn kid is really running a fever. I must say, he’s nearly delirious from it. If this goes on and sothing happens to the little brat, Xu Ya won’t just let it go. It’d be one thing if she simply threw a tantrum, but if she drags us down with her in the process, we’ll be in trouble.”
The man with the sideburns threw away the cigarette he’d been holding in his mouth and spat a mouthful of saliva, saying angrily, “The whole kidnapping was her idea. When she realized that old man Rong Nanfeng would never divorce to marry her, she didn’t want to waste ti and ca up with this vile money-grabbing sche, planning to cut and run with a big score. If we get caught, she won’t be able to escape either. After all, it was her who tricked the child and handed him over to us. At most, we’d be accessories to the cri; she’s the mastermind! We’re all in this together—no one is afraid of anyone.”
“But that kid is ultimately her cash cow. She’s counting on him to grow up and inherit the Rong Family fortune, so she can proudly live a life of luxury thanks to the boy. Before she handed the child over, she also said, we’d just scare Rong Nanfeng into paying up, that we mustn’t endanger the kid’s life.”
The man with sideburns slapped his companion in great dissatisfaction and said fiercely, “The situation has already progressed to this extent. I already told Rong Nanfeng that I would make the exchange if he found a child to swap. If he can’t find one, what can I do? It’s not like we can release our hostage halfway through, right? If we let him go, what about the remaining money? Is fifty million enough for several people to split? “But…”
“But nothing! Xu Ya just wants to keep the kid alive so she can milk more money out of him in the future. But what does her wanting to make more money have to do with us? I’m only in it for this one score. If Rong Nanfeng doesn’t co up with enough cash, I’ll just tear up the ticket!”
The two of them were still whispering about sothing, but Rong Yan didn’t catch it clearly. She turned off the water and left the restroom composedly.
After returning to the bar, she took the opportunity to approach the direction where she had heard the voices, and sure enough, near the booth area, she spotted a well-hidden boy.
The boy was playing with the bottles on the booth table, and due to the dim lighting in that corner, which made it almost impossible to see anyone, no one had noticed the child there.
Having confird the location and the individuals involved, Rong Yan quietly walked away to avoid attracting the attention of the vigilant people around the boy. She went to a spot where she wouldn’t be discovered, took out her phone, and made a call to the police.
