Chapter 463: Bit Her Once
Though he went along with it, it didn’t an he wasn’t angry. Li Shengxiao gripped her wrist tightly, his expression still dark.
“You did this just to give a birthday gift?”
Rong Yan was aware that what she had just done was too dangerous, but it had been an instinctive reaction, and now that it was done, showing weakness wasn’t a burden to her conscience. She blinked, her beautiful eyes as if filled with stars and oceans, innocently saying, “No, it wasn’t.”
“…” Not it wasn’t?
Li Shengxiao was angry, but he couldn’t deny the pleasure he felt knowing she had co specifically to find him and bring him a birthday gift. Yet the mont he felt delighted, the little woman in front of him changed her tune!
A frustration welled up in his chest, as though sothing was blocking it, making him itch to press the girl against the wall and demand why she was here if not for that!
Perhaps sensing the danger, Rong Yan quickly added another line, “I also wanted to wish you a happy birthday in person and, well, to celebrate your birthday with you.”
“Didn’t you already celebrate my birthday before? I didn’t want to miss your birthday. So I asked Assistant Gu to bring here.” She caught hold of his sleeve, looking pitiful, “Li Shengxiao, won’t you stop being angry, please? I promise, I’ll let you know before I co next ti. I just wanted to give you a surprise…”
Even when she made a pitiful expression, it was tinged with mischief.
She didn’t look pitiable at all, more like a cunning little fox!
The invisible grip on his heart seed to loosen when he looked into those bright sparkling eyes. The irritation that had arisen before had all but vanished without a trace.
The noble man’s thin lips were pressed into a straight line, the color on his handso face still grim, but it was much less threatening than the stormy deanor he had just before.
Rong Yan had exhausted all her lines of appeasent, waiting for his response.
After a long wait, her wrist was still firmly grasped, and she silently wondered if she hadn’t sounded sincere enough, contemplating whether to express her concerns to him once more.
The next second, however, she found herself abruptly pulled close.
She was caught off guard and crashed into a firm embrace.
The scent of Dragon Sandalwood mixed with a faint hint of minty tobacco hit her face, as domineering as the man himself, leaving no room for rejection!
His hot breath ca down upon her, and suddenly, Rong Yan felt her lips bitten fiercely.
“Hiss.” She inhaled sharply from the pain.
Damn, was he a dog or sothing?
Just as she was about to struggle, the man who had been holding her waist let go, his eagle eyes deepening, his face clearing up a bit, “That’s more like a surprise!”
“…”
The proud man glanced over the crowd, spotting Gu Ming standing among them, unsure whether to co over, with just one look. The hesitant man promptly quickened his step and trotted over.
“Mr. Li, I realize my mistake. I shouldn’t have told Miss Rong that you were in Lin City, much less brought her here to find you.” He stood as respectfully as could be, like a primary school student who had done sothing wrong.
He was surely finished…
Just as Rong Yan was about to speak, Li Shengxiao caught her worried expression, glanced back at the head-bowed, guilt-ridden man, and his angular face resud its usual calm, “No next ti! If there is a next ti, pack your things and head to Ring Island!”
Did ‘no next ti’ an he was letting it go this ti? Gu Ming couldn’t believe his ears. He had braced himself for Mr. Li’s wrath, only for the matter to be let go so lightly?
