He couldn’t help but laugh, letting out a deep and sexy chuckle that resonated from the back of his throat. The arcade’s lights cast a glow over him as he stood there, lazily and casually, placing his hand atop Gu Linxi’s head, and there seed to be a spark in those peach blossom eyes of his.
"Baby, are you treating your brother like a kid? Wouldn’t you rather take next door?"
The sign of the five-star hotel next door glead brightly.
Gu Linxi sneered, full of spirit, "Keep dreaming!"
Cui Jiangjing ruffled her hair before removing his hand, both helpless and doting, "Yeah, I am dreaming. Dreaming about when I can whisk you away to my place. Everyone needs dreams, right? Without dreams, what’s the difference between a person and a salted fish."
"Don’t you know that when a salted fish turns over, it’s still a salted fish?"
He was taken aback, pondering the words, and suddenly broke into a laugh, covering his face, "Hahaha, I guess you’re right. A flipped over salted fish really is still just a salted fish. Just with its back to the sky!"
For the first ti tonight, Gu Linxi saw a smile from him that wasn’t so bitter. She paused, then suddenly grabbed his hand and led him inside.
"Follow ."
Cui Jiangjing’s large hand was held by her soft little one, his long legs automatically following her inside, and his palms began to sweat slightly as he realized he was actually nervous.
Her hand was even softer than he imagined, incredibly so, as if it had no bones, just tender and delicate. Yet it was so warm, warr than the night itself, warming right up to his heart that was close to being frozen.
It was so warm, he didn’t want to let go...
The arcade lights were dim, noise from the ga’s effects overlapped with so many others that talking was just too hard.
Gu Linxi pulled him to a large shooting ga machine, went to get a few ga coins for them, reserving a spot and tossed one in.
"Here, you sit here, and I’ll sit next to you. This ga can be played by two people. See that simulated gun over there? Use it like this..."
She leaned in, strands of hair teasing by touching Cui Jiangjing’s ear and her breath brushing against him, her white side profile focused earnestly as she showed him how to use the handle.
"Look here, rember this spot, this is to move forward, this side is to move back, then you can make your character jump with this, and crouch with this. And here..." Gu Linxi noticed he wasn’t paying full attention, furrowing her brows, her clear eyes studying him with a hint of dissatisfaction, "Are you listening to ? I’m telling you now, I only say things once, if you don’t get it, it’s not my problem."
Cui Jiangjing’s throat suddenly tightened, his gaze instinctively evading hers, unable to et her eyes, and he let out a low ’mm-hmm.’
"When you see terrorists in the ga, just shoot them. Hit them to score points. There are seven levels in total, and it gets harder as you progress. If you lose, you must start over. I can finish it on my own, but with you, who knows. I’ll try my best, though. Whenever I’m in a bad mood, I play this ga. Treat the characters inside as your enemies and vent on them, and you’ll feel better."
"After this, I’ll take you to whack-a-mole. There’s so much fun stuff here. People only beco unhappy because there aren’t enough happy things. When you have fun, you won’t even rember those unhappy things, so just play freely and have fun."
The little woman ahead seed so ordinary, yet the light in her eyes shook him deeply. In his most awkward and sad monts, she used such a gentle and soft voice to tell him he could be happy.
