In a daze, Jiang Nuan vaguely rembered soone giving her dicine last night.
But she thought that person was a man at the ti.
Was she mistaken?
The Filipino helper brought her back to reality, "Miss Susan, are you feeling better? Is there anywhere else you feel uncomfortable?"
Jiang Nuan snapped back to her senses and t her concerned gaze, shaking her head and forcing a smile, "No, I’m much better, the fever should have gone down. Thank you. If it weren’t for you, I might have fainted on the roadside yesterday."
"It’s nothing, it’s natural for neighbors to help each other, and since we’re both from Hua Country, we should help each other all the more when we’re abroad."
The helper handed her a set of clean clothes with a smile, "There are no ladies’ clothes at ho, this set of loungewear is for n, but it’s brand new and never worn. I asked Mr. Fu Yi, and he said you could use it as a change of clothes. You broke out in a sweat last night, so get up and take a shower, you’ll feel much better."
Holding the soft, high-end gray loungewear in her arms, Jiang Nuan silently lowered her eyelids, her long, curly lashes slightly concealing her thoughts.
Even the color of the loungewear was his favorite.
She rembered now, the car she had taken yesterday was driven by her mysterious neighbor, aning that aside from the Filipino helper, her thick-skinned neighbor had helped too...
For a mont, Jiang Nuan felt dizzy and her head ached. After finishing her shower and changing clothes, she erged from the bathroom just as a gentle breeze blew in from outside, refreshing and cooling the air.
Her cold was gone, and she had bathed, so Jiang Nuan felt it was ti to stop taking advantage of staying at soone else’s house. With her clothes in hand, she headed downstairs, where the little corgi imdiately barked and began circling around her.
"Woof woof!"
"Little Potato, good morning."
Greeting it, Jiang Nuan bent down to pat its head before turning to the busy helper downstairs, "Zhang, thank you. I’ll go back, wash these clothes cleanly, iron them, and return them, or I’ll buy a new set."
The helper wiped her hands and ca over, chiding gently, "Miss Susan, you’re too polite. Mr. Fu Yi said there’s no need to return them. Just change and give them to , and I’ll wash them. There’s no need to buy new ones, as Mr. Fu Yi has plenty of clothes."
"How can I accept that?"
Wearing an unfamiliar man’s clothes, even though they were new and never worn by her neighbor, Jiang Nuan couldn’t shake a sense of sha, feeling it was too intimate a gesture between strangers.
"I’d better wash them and return them."
Seeing her insistence, the helper didn’t argue further and instead led her over to the dining table, where a steaming breakfast was laid out.
She sat Jiang Nuan down gently, "I’ve made you so porridge. Have so breakfast before you head back! You’ve been this sick, and it’s unlikely you’ll go to work today. Since you’re resting at ho anyway, why not eat sothing first? I’ve heard porridge is best after a cold to help sweat out the fever."
Jiang Nuan smiled wryly, but her heart was full of gratitude, "Thank you."
The helper served her a bowl of porridge, "You’ve thanked three tis since this morning. We’re all from Hua Country, no need to be so polite. Eat, I just made this, and it’s at the perfect temperature."
"Tha..." Jiang Nuan almost said thank you again, but swallowed her words and began eating the porridge with a spoon.
Seeing her enjoying the al, the helper felt a sense of accomplishnt. As she noticed Jiang Nuan’s fair profile and prominent nose, she couldn’t help but ask, "Miss Susan, your boyfriend..."
