Jiang Nuan returned ho, had dinner with Old Madam Fu, and then went upstairs to her room to wash up and rest.

She took a shower first, changed into her pajamas, blow-dried her hair, and then went outside to take out her laptop. As she opened it, a certain soone’s call ca through.

Jiang Nuan casually placed her phone to the side and answered the call.

"Hello."

The signal in Hechuan County was poor, and the static during the call was especially loud. She had already sat down and turned on the computer when the phone finally seed to receive her voice, letting out a low, muffled laugh, "What are you doing?"

"?"

Jiang Nuan glanced at her laptop, placing her hand on the desk, "I’m preparing to write a report for Mr. Zhang, to submit to him tomorrow."

She replaced the neurology departnt of the provincial hospital by going to Hechuan County for support. As a representative of the provincial hospital, she had to write a report to go through the motions. Otherwise, Zhang Ke would have to write it for her. Her teacher had so many patients every day; as his student, she couldn’t let her teacher lose face, at least not to make her teacher do her assignnts even after graduation.

Jiang Nuan skillfully opened a docunt and, staring at the blank page, felt a little headache coming on.

"I haven’t written a report in China for a long ti, still a bit unused to it."

There’s nothing good abroad: the food is bad, the living conditions are bad. But one good thing is that they prefer practicality over formalism.

Foreigners don’t care about how fancy your wording is on the report or the word count, as long as you clearly state the points and focus on the key issues, they consider your report perfect. It’s the opposite in China; dostically, they not only require key points but also demand the word count to be up to standard, with eloquence and emotion...

Fu Yi was getting ready for a eting, but hearing this, he pushed open the door, walked to the window, lowered his eyes, and said gently, "If you don’t like writing, then don’t. I’ll have a word with the dean."

Jiang Nuan typed a line with her slender fingers, refusing his good intentions without hesitation, "Forget it, I’ll write it. No matter what, I went there representing the provincial hospital, so naturally, I should write a report about the Hechuan County patients. Don’t trouble the dean, and don’t make things difficult for my teacher."

She always considered those around her but neglected herself. Fu Yi’s gaze darkened slightly, his thin lips close to the receiver, his voice low like the deep hum of a cello, "Mm, if you say don’t, then I won’t."

Jiang Nuan suddenly felt the atmosphere beco ambiguous. She couldn’t think of any content for the report; after typing the title, she didn’t know what to write.

Just as she hesitated about whether to hang up because she couldn’t find anything to say, the tired voice from the man ca through, "What did you have for dinner? Did Grandma make you sothing nice?"

Jiang Nuan’s thoughts were suddenly pulled back, recalling the dinner, "She did. We had sweet and sour ribs, mushroom chicken soup, and a few stir-fried dishes, along with a bowl of yam porridge."

"So simple?"

His voice seed a bit disappointed, and Jiang Nuan was not pleased, "What’s simple about it? These are the dishes I requested. Grandma originally said to take out to eat, but I didn’t want to go. Where outside is as clean as ho? There aren’t many dishes because it’s just the two of us eating, we shouldn’t waste food. Doesn’t Director Fu know that wasting is shaful?"

Fu Yi could almost see her wide eyes and round gaze, like an angry rabbit, scolding him through the phone. His heart seed to fly back to Capital City, wishing he could be right in front of her, pulling her into his arms and kissing her red lips.
