"I’m sorry, Mr. Wang, I can’t help you."
Wang Ying seed surprised that she wouldn’t give him any face, and after a brief silence, his voice carried a hint of restrained anger, "Since Mr. Rong has spoken to this extent, I won’t continue to shalessly beg you. Just pretend I never made this call."
"Hmm."
As Rong Yan was about to put down the phone, the person on the other end suddenly said in a gloomy tone, "Mr. Rong, I really admire your personality, and we’ve had a pleasant cooperation, but this ti you’re not giving any leeway, which might offend people quite a bit. In this circle, interpersonal relationships are more important than anything. People won’t always be at the top; there will always co a ti when you’ll need a helping hand when you fall from high up. If Mr. Rong keeps pushing away friends, it might be hard to find suitable people when you need them later."
Rong Yan narrowed her beautiful eyes, the pitch-black pupils were calm and composed, "A ’friend’ who doesn’t dare to lend a hand while I’m still at the top—is that who I should rely on to pull up when I fall?"
"I’ve never worried about the things you’re talking about! If that day cos, I wouldn’t go begging in front of such a ’friend’ either."
Wang Ying felt a sharp pain in his chest and angrily hung up the phone.
...
Li Corporation.
In the 68th floor CEO office, the black and white decor highlighted the owner’s extraordinary taste, but the colors were too monochro. Except for the chandelier, there were only black, white, and gray colors, inevitably giving a strong visual pressure.
Fortunately, a colorful little ornant placed on the black desk broke this discomfort. It was a small rainbow-shaped ornant, roughly the size of a palm, not particularly finely made, but charming in its cute design.
On top of the rainbow ornant was a round glass snow globe. Inside the globe, snowflakes flew around, and amidst the beautiful snowflakes, there was a faintly visible Q-version family of three holding hands.
Near the university town, many small shops sold such snow globe ornants. Because they were inexpensive and cute, female university students liked to buy them as gifts.
Gu Ming would always find his attention drawn to the desk’s ornant whenever he ca in. Holding the file, he pushed the door ajar and willed himself to look away, walking quickly forward.
"Mr. Li, this is the new season’s report from the finance departnt."
The man sitting at the desk had broad shoulders and a narrow waist. The black suit fit him perfectly, without a single wrinkle, giving off a neat and valiant air.
He was reviewing a docunt in his hand and didn’t even lift his head upon hearing this, instructing, "Just put it there."
"Yes."
Gu Ming carefully placed the folder on the pile of waiting-to-be-processed files on the side, then returned to his original position, standing without leaving.
Perhaps realizing that he hadn’t left, the man looked up from his work, his starry eyes sharp and distinguished, "What are you standing here for?"
Doesn’t Gu Ming rember that he’s not supposed to disturb when he’s working?!
Gu Ming lowered his head, hands folded in front, and quietly reported, "Mr. Li, I wanted to report so matters related to the Young Madam."
Hearing it involved Rong Yan.
Li Shengxiao put down the pen in his hand, his pristine fingertips touching the folder, his expression dignified, "Speak."
Gu Ming dared not delay, "Chu Xi has been troubling the Young Madam again. She is using the Chu Family to exert pressure behind the scenes at an awards ceremony the Young Madam is supposed to attend, preventing the organizers from awarding the drama the Young Madam invested in. They even deliberately gave the award to a production crew that previously had issues with the Young Madam."
