At that mont, a middle-aged woman carrying a bowl of sweet soup stepped out of the main room. Noticing the yard was empty, she asked the girl curiously, “Hey, Qiqi, where did your brother go?”
“He said he’s heading back first and told to let you know.”
The middle-aged woman mumbled in puzzlent, “Ca all the way here and didn’t even drink a sip of water before leaving. I was just telling your grandma that we should take down so of the cured pork hanging under the eaves, cut off a piece, and cook cabbage for lunch to treat you two nicely…”
Ye Qi had long wiped away her tears. Now, her wide eyes were fixed on the doorway, a peculiar unease simring inside her.
Suddenly, she stood up from the small stool and said to the chatty woman, “Mom, I’m going out for a bit!”
“Where are you going?” Because of her illness, the Ye Family rarely let her go out alone. The woman put down the sweet soup bowl imdiately and said, “Wait a mont, I’ll go with you.”
“I’m going to find Hai. Your legs aren’t feeling well, so stay ho. I’ll be back soon.” She dashed out quickly, giving the woman no chance to catch up.
Hearing that she was only heading to Chen Hai’s house, the woman relaxed, refraining from insisting she tag along. She simply shouted after her, “Walk slowly! Be careful not to fall. Co back earlier!”

Four n of varying heights and builds were gathered, speaking in hushed tones.
“Big bro, the person has already been locked up. What do we do next? Did you ask the boss? We need to deal with this woman quickly, or if the cops show up, we’ll get caught red-handed. By then, we won’t even have the chance to cry.”
“Yeah, big bro. Why don’t we just throw her out and hit her with the car again?”

Already resolute, Chen Hai found their chatter infuriating and barked sharply, “Enough! Stop arguing! Isn’t this place chaotic enough for you? Shut your damn mouths!”
The four n instantly fell silent at his yell. The tall and lanky man, resembling a monkey, broke the quiet after a mont. He stepped forward, patted his shoulder, and said, “Hai, I know you feel this woman is innocent. If you really can’t go through with it, we’ll let her go. We can figure out the money situation later.”
“Figure out my ass! Are you planning to sell blood or sell kidneys?!” He swatted the man’s hand away fiercely, his face dark and ferocious. “All of you, leave! Don’t stick around at my place. A bunch of useless idiots, can’t even help out a bit. Get out!”
The others protested indignantly, “Big bro, how can you say that about us? We’re trying to help, or else we wouldn’t be here with you. That’s too harsh, man.”
His face was grim and expressionless as he pointed at the door. “Get out!”
The four n hesitated and didn’t move.
“Not leaving, huh?” His eyes flared red with fury as he scanned the surroundings, spotting the axe leaning against the wall for chopping wood. He grabbed it, swung it violently, and roared, “Get out, or I’ll kill you!”
The n jumped in shock. One of them couldn’t hold back anymore and shouted angrily, “Fine, we’ll leave! Who even wants to stick around here anyway!”
