Chapter 1434: Chapter 1435: The Siblings Have a Good Relationship
He had just finished sending his ssage when he walked back into Lin Wan’s hospital room.
Inside, soft voices were speaking. Lin Wan’s voice sounded weak yet gentle. It was clear that Cui Jiangjing’s dical skills were reliable; she had already woken up.
“I heard from my mom. Thank you for everything this ti, Miss Chu.”
Chu Xi smiled warmly, her deanor kind and approachable. “It was nothing, really. Just lending a helping hand since I happened to be able to. Don’t worry about it. You’ve just woken up from surgery, your body’s still very weak. Try to talk less and rest more. We can chat when you’re feeling better.”
Lin Wan’s clear black-and-white eyes looked at her with appreciation. Her regard for Chu Xi, who carried herself with poise, modesty, and discretion, instantly grew. Lin Wan nodded faintly and replied in her frail voice, “Mm, okay.”
She turned her head again, softly comforting her tearful mother and grandmother, “Mom, Grandma, I’m fine now, don’t cry. It’s my fault. Before coming back, I should’ve told you in advance. I shouldn’t have co back secretly on my own and made you worry so much. I’m sorry…”
Lin Teng watched her pale, fragile face, her speech halting and broken, clearly still lacking strength. She was mustering all her energy to console her mother and grandmother. Feeling pained, he gently wrapped an arm around Su Yi’s waist and quietly reassured them as well, “Alright, stop crying. Isn’t she awake now? If you keep crying, Wanwan’s going to start crying too. She just had surgery. Jiangjing specifically said that she shouldn’t let her emotions get too stirred up before her wound scabs over. Otherwise, the stitches might pull open. Did you forget again?”
“I just couldn’t help myself.” Su Yi wiped away her tears, trying to calm down as she blinked away the moisture in her eyes. In a soft muffled voice, she said, “Alright, I won’t cry anymore. Wanwan, don’t bla yourself. It was just an accident. None of us bla you. You only wanted to surprise us, that’s all.”
Who would’ve thought that a pleasant surprise could suddenly turn into a scare?
“Mom, Wanwan is already awake. Let’s stop crying now.” She helped persuade Mada Lin, who had also been wiping her tears.
With Lin Teng providing so levity, the atmosphere in the hospital room finally lightened a little, with small bursts of laughter returning.
The mont Li Shengxiao entered, Lin Wan imdiately noticed him and greeted him cheerfully, “Brother, you’re here?”
Lin Teng saw Li Shengxiao walk in and, unusually, smiled as he said to her, “Your brother was the first to arrive at the hospital. He stayed with you through the entire surgery and only left briefly with his friend afterward. He hasn’t really left at all.”
“Hehe, ever since I was little, Brother has always treated the best. I actually brought back a gift for you, but I guess it’s lost now. I’ll have to make it up to you next ti,” Lin Wan said with a touch of regret, but a warm, gentle dimpled smile broke on her lips as she lay against the bedhead.
Her fair complexion and delicate features were a testant to the Lin Family’s exceptional looks. Her deanor exuded the graceful elegance of a noblewoman, a woman as soft and calm as flowing water.
Li Shengxiao walked to the bedside and took a seat. He patted her shoulder gently, silently offering comfort. “Your things aren’t lost. They’re all at the traffic police station. I’ll have soone send them over to you later. These are minor matters. Your health is the most important thing. Once you’ve recovered, you can bring gifts whenever you like.”
Lin Wan gave a playful smile, her expression warmly spirited, and teased, “You wish! This ti I happened to see sothing perfect for you and bought it on the spot. Next ti, it’s your turn to buy a gift. How can a brother always let his sister be the one giving gifts?”
She had expected him to argue back, but instead, he simply let out an “Mm” in reply. A deep yet gentle smile softened his sharp features as he indulged her for once. “If you fancy sothing, just let know. I’ll buy it for you.”
