The editor-in-chief of that magazine was a subordinate of her father. With her father’s help, he had beco one of the notable figures in the fashion industry.
He had always been grateful to their family and visited their ho every New Year, bringing gifts for her.
She wanted to see how Xia Xue could still secure the magazine cover by relying on her older male backers after she went to seek Coco’s help!
Estelle’s office was on the second floor, just where Rong Yan ran into soone brimming with rage, ready to storm out.
"Wait a mont for , I’ll be right there," Estelle, with her phone pressed to her ear, was on a call. She was surprised to bump into Rong Yan and imdiately told the person on the other end, "Don’t wait for anymore, I have sothing to deal with. I’ll call you before I co over."
After that, she hung up the phone.
The typically ticulous face showed a look of surprise, "Rong Yan, what brings you here?"
"I ca to see you, Estelle."
Despite her surprise, Estelle opened the door, welcoming her into the office again, "Co in."
She put her phone back on the desk. Her neatly organized desk, apart from the telephone, only held a large box filled with blue files and so personal belongings.
Seeing the cardboard box, Rong Yan figured it out and walked up to her desk.
"What did you want to see about?" Estelle fetched two paper cups, poured water for herself and then for Rong Yan, handing it over as she leaned against the desk, casually sipping her water.
Rong Yan took the paper cup but didn’t drink the water inside, instead, she held the cup in her hands with a complex expression and said, "Estelle, are you resigning?"
Estelle paused drinking, looked up at her, and asked, "Who told you that?"
"..."
She placed the paper cup on the desk, not pressing further, and openly admitted, "Yes, I’m planning to resign. I don’t know who told you; it must have been soone from the team. They likely told you about my resignation because of you."
"Isn’t it because of ?" Rong Yan felt uneasy.
"It isn’t." Estelle shook her head and confessed, "It is partly because of you but not the main reason. The main reason I want to resign is that I’m not happy here anymore. When a job stops bringing happiness, it’s aningless to continue. Besides, I want to change environnts while I’m still young. The job of managing artists is stable and pays well, but ultimately, there’s little room for growth. I want to re-plan my life."
Rong Yan heard differently from what Qi Yue had told her over the phone—that the new president targeted her right away and, as her agent, Estelle was kept back after a eting, and not long after, news of her planning to resign spread.
She felt bitter about it.
Since she had returned to the country, Estelle had provided imnse help along the way, and not only had she failed to reciprocate adequately, she had even caused Estelle to lose her job. Anyone in her shoes would find it hard to accept.
But Estelle didn’t want her to connect the two issues. After a mont of silence, without taking the bla onto herself, she asked, "So, Estelle, where do you plan to go next?"
"Well, I haven’t decided yet," Estelle pondered for a mont and said, "I’m thinking of taking a break for now. I haven’t really had a good rest or devoted ti to my family in recent years. I want to spend so quality ti with my family during this break. After that, I’ll see which company would be suitable and choose one that I like to develop."
