Chapter 1219: Chapter 1219: Petty and Vindictive, Insisting on Splitting Hairs
“Two eggs, add so collagen…”
Cui Jiangjing didn’t know whether to continue being depressed or to fight back because of the comfort he received.
In the main, he chose neither, and channeled his frustration into cleaning all the ingredients Rong Yan had assigned to him, placing them neatly to the side.
The kitchen was packed with twenty different dishes, each in small portions enough for a little plate. The vegetables were bright green and dewy, looking quite appetizing.
What made him especially proud was that he had washed them himself.
His high-end suit was splattered with water stains all over, yet he didn’t mind. He took off his plastic gloves and asked Rong Yan, who was making the hotpot spices, “All done. Is that everything? If so, I’m heading out.”
The kitchen was filled with the aroma of chili pepper, and Rong Yan’s face was flushed from the steam, her big eyes misting up. It made Cui Jiangjing silently curse, “Damn, she looks way too underage. What was Shengxiao thinking five years ago?”
He only glanced at her briefly, as his personal taste leaned towards won who emitted a feminine and mysterious aura, like Gu Linxi, enveloped in a semi-transparent mist, endlessly enigmatic and alluring.
During his brief daydream, Rong Yan had a mont to check his work, and with a grand gesture, she comnted, “Nicely washed, Doctor Cui.”
Cui Jiangjing’s mood lightened, his peachy eyes crinkling as he smiled, “Of course, what do you expect from soone with my background.”
People who studied dicine often had a predilection for cleanliness, and while he might not have been as obsessive, he certainly had his mild quirks! No way he would let anything go unclean under his watch.
The sa went for vegetables.
Busy as she was, Rong Yan didn’t indulge his pride for long and after making sure everything was there, she said, “Why don’t you go out and play with Duidui for a while? I’ll call you when I’m done.”
Seeing her sweating from the heat, Cui Jiangjing felt a bit embarrassed, and unusually, he offered, “Forget it, I’ll help you with more. What else haven’t you gotten to? I’ll do it so that when Shengxiao gets back and finds sitting in the living room with my feet up, you’re not left out here, avoiding any petty revenge he might seek later!”
“Pfft.” Rong Yan laughed, defensively protecting her boyfriend, “He’s not that petty. You’re a visitor after all; it’s perfectly normal for you to sit out there.”
Not normal!
Not at all normal!
At least not to a certain ticulously fair yet protective and domineering man.
“He’s only generous with you, less intimidating, not holding grudges. I don’t have the sa privilege. Besides, with you busy here and a grown man heading out to babysit, I’d feel awkward. Just tell what needs to be done, and I’ll take care of it—better two than one!” Cui Jiangjing insisted on helping.
Left with no choice, Rong Yan pointed at the cleaned vegetables and after a thought, agreed, “Alright. You can help by arranging these dishes on plates and taking them outside. Once the soup base is ready and I bring out the induction cooker, we’re set!”
Making a homade hotpot wasn’t hard. People preferred eating out because preparing it at ho—shopping, making the broth, washing vegetables, arranging the plates—was much more ti-consuming than cost-saving, which is why everyone liked it better outside, for convenience.
