Chapter 1077: Chapter 1077: Doesn’t Look Like a Good Person Chapter 1077: Chapter 1077: Doesn’t Look Like a Good Person The eting was delayed by half an hour…

Gu Ming felt like he had swallowed a fly; he couldn’t swallow it, nor could he spit it out. He bowed his head and complied with the arrangent, “Yes, Mr. Li.”

Li Shengxiao, impatiently and affectionately, tugged at his tie and strode towards the reception room.

As he pushed the door open, Chu Xi was leisurely making a phone call. Upon seeing him enter, she softly spoke to the person on the phone, “Let’s talk when I get back.”

Putting down her phone, she walked back over and sat down on the sofa, tilting her head up with a smile, “I’ve been waiting for Mr. Li for a whole hour. Do you usually arrive at work at nine-thirty? That’s not what I heard.”

Li Shengxiao asked his secretary to bring in a cup of coffee and, rolling back the cuffs on his wrists, responded indifferently, “And what exactly did you hear?”

Chu Xi’s lips curled into a smile, her eyes glittering, “I’ve heard that Mr. Li is a workaholic, who wishes he could work 20 out of 24 hours a day, demands etings before work hours start, and even wants to hold etings late after work hours when the mood strikes him. He never arrives late, let alone leaves early; 365 days a year, while the lowest level employees rest, you don’t take a single day off, even using annual leave to work overti. How about that, does it sound ridiculous?”

“Not really, it used to be like that,” Li Shengxiao replied as he sat down not far from her, the distance just right, neither too close nor too far, much like his attitude towards Chu Xi, always lukewarm.

Chu Xi noted where he positioned himself and pretended not to see, “Hmm, not anymore?”

Li Shengxiao pursed his lips slightly, his gaze softening sowhat, “Yeah, I have a girlfriend now. It takes so ti to drop her off at her company in the morning.”

Not knowing why, Chu Xi felt a lump in her throat but managed a forced smile, “Mr. Li, showing off your love life in front of might not be very appropriate.”

Li Shengxiao frowned at her, his expression unreadable, “Don’t you have a boyfriend who you wouldn’t mind?”

Chu Xi, as if having shot herself in the foot, stifled an agonized smile, “Even if I have a boyfriend, it doesn’t an I can handle your public displays of affection; my boyfriend and I aren’t that affectionate.”

Li Shengxiao seed unimpressed and steered the conversation back, “Miss Chu, you’re even willing to confront your family for your boyfriend; that must an you have a good relationship. It’s unnecessary to be together without affection.”

Chu Xi burst out laughing, “Why do I feel like you’re interrogating , suspecting I’m lying? Don’t worry, I have a good relationship with my boyfriend, and I don’t plan to cling to you anyti soon. That’s one of the reasons I ca today. I want to ask Mr. Li, with all the rumors flying around, how do you plan to handle this? Will you acknowledge the relationship or deny it?”

Li Shengxiao’s deep gaze fixed on her, waiting for her to continue.

Chu Xi shrugged, looking helpless, “Didn’t we agree to cover for each other? Publicly revealing your relationship now would be like telling everyone that you’ve dumped . Have you considered my feelings or how my family would feel?”

She t his piercing eyes and continued, “I’m not saying you can’t be with Miss Rong, but during the ti we’re covering for each other, it’s better not to go public with your relationship. It’s better for both of us. Once we find a way to deal with our family issues, you can go public, and I’ll clap and congratulate you, but let’s hold off for now.”
