(Karsten)

It was wrong to take out my frustration on Arata. Disappointnt I saw in her eyes that my words had caused, pierced like a splinter of wood in my cold heart.

Never knew soone’s disappointnt would affect this much. I needed to collect my thoughts and not use her as my emotional outlet.

I made so more phone calls and spoke to Ranold. We needed to acquire that cotton, or we would be facing a huge loss. By no ans was I prepared for that, but when nature decides to stand against you, there is not much one can do.

Arata didn’t disturb after that. I thought of summoning her again, but my pride got the better of . At least I should have kept the coffee.

As noon drew near, I received a call from an unknown number. Seeing the first three digits, I knew the call was coming from Angel City.

Who could that be?

Receiving the call through my Bluetooth device, I promptly said.

"Hello!"

A female voice answered, it was calm, extrely calm, belonging to soone who seed to possess a lot of control.

"Hello! Mr Chevalier speaking?"

"Yes!" I answered, my mind wandering as I stood up and faced the window of my office, staring outside at the silhouette of the city.

"It has co to my knowledge that you would like to buy so Swanzi Land Cotton. I can help you sell it at a cheaper rate and it will be delivered at the earliest ti possible."

What?

Who was this woman and how did she know this?

"Who are you? And how did you get this number?" My apprehensions were clear in the way I spoke but I didn’t care at that mont.

"Don’t worry; I am calling because you needed help, and a close associate provided your number. Rest, I can’t say because I would like to remain discreet."

Strange, this was extrely strange.

"How will I know you are not a scamr and trying to sell sothing of third-rate quality and not the real deal? Swanzi Land Cotton is not readily available in the market. Why should I trust you?" My forehead had several creases appearing on it now as I rubbed my temple in confusion.

She paused before giving a small, controlled laugh.

"If you wish to trade, I can send the shipnt by tomorrow, and you will receive it within the sa day. Check it, run quality control on it and if you are satisfied, we can proceed forward. How does that sound?"

Woah! That was not what I had expected at all. Who was this woman? Receiving tomorrow would solve our problem putting us right back on schedule.

"Why would you do that? No one is this nice in the business world and I am not a person who likes to owe people." I answered with a hint of annoyance creeping up in my voice. Both my hands were now deeply thrust in my pockets.

"Let’s say soone cares about your business and I deeply care about that person. Now let know how much you need so I can start with the packing process."

The woman was deeply professional and didn’t waver for even a single second.

Care?

I knew Arata was from Angel City. Was it soone she knew? But why would she help after how I had treated her?

Or was it my mother or Ranold?

But my mother didn’t know about this, and Ranold wouldn’t keep that a secret; he would openly discuss it with before proceeding.

"We need at least 10 bales imdiately; if we like the product, then a further order can be placed."

"Consider it done. Expect the delivery by tomorrow noon at the airport. I will forward you the details once we have packed and loaded. Have a good day, Mr Chevalier."

"Can I at least get a na? Yours or your company’s?" I asked before she could end the call.

"Then it won’t be discreet anymore. Maybe in the future, but for now, I was told not to reveal who I was or anything about my company. Don’t worry we are legit and not a fraud."

The call ended with a click, leaving baffled; never had I received such a call before. I could only hope this was not a prank.

I needed to inform the production departnt that they should expect the cotton by tomorrow so they would be relaxed. Hopefully, we weren’t falling behind our schedule.

But what were the chances this was a real call?

Contemplating, I held myself back from calling them and waited for the call from the lady.

In the anti, I wanted to check the number but decided against it for now. Sothing in her voice told to trust her, and on a very distant note, it reminded slightly of Arata’s.

I was still deep in thought when Ranold’s voice ca through the speaker, asking for permission to enter.

Granting him access I saw he had brought food.

"I learnt you are on a hunger strike. That won’t solve our problem. Let’s eat, and we can discuss how to proceed with this," he said, placing takeout on my desk.

I knew I should confide in him. So I settled down on my chair and revealed everything about the phone call.

He heard every word with keen interest, nodding his head as he dug into the tempura chicken he had brought.

"That’s quite a call you received. Both of us know Arata has connections in the Angel City. It could be her," he said, winking at .

He was the one who had told about her in the first place and his words made sense.

"Could be, but let’s wait for the shipnt to arrive first. For all I know, it could be soone trying to scam us."

"It’s probable but highly unlikely. I have a good feeling about this, Karsten. The odds have been on our side recently, and this proves that. I would say let’s take our chances."

And then I rembered, I could check if Arata was involved.
