(Arata)

Mortification gripped every cell in my body as I woke up wrapped in his arms and my leg resting on his lower body.

I knew I must have crawled all over him while sleeping. I tried to wriggle out of his hold but the man was made from steel.

My wriggling finally woke him up and he let go. Pissed off at myself and at him for being this cosy to sleep with, I snapped. Mostly at him.

Reverting back to his usual cold self he left the bed in anger and shut himself in the bathroom. Why was he so hot and cold simultaneously? Couldn’t he act like a normal person?

Sighing, I left the bed and took out the clothes I had decided to wear for the day.

He erged from the bathroom all dressed up but his face had gone back to being set in stone. Without glancing at , he laid out so instructions and left the room, slamming the door behind him.

’He is going to return to his assholery,’ mumbling and cursing I left for the washroom to freshen up and change.

Once I was ready, with my wig properly adjusted and glasses resting on my nose, I left the room. Their female house help approached , asking if I needed anything.

"Buenos días, señora, do you need assistance with sothing?" She asked, with her hand clasped. A young girl she was, around my age with her light brown hair pulled back and held in a tight bun.

"Good morning, can I have so chamomile tea?" I requested with a warm smile and she returned it.

"Of course! Señora Camilla is in the garden, you can join her. I will bring your tea." She returned to the kitchen while I made my way to the garden outside.

Camilla was dressed in an elegant yellow flower gown while comfortably resting on her chair, surrounded by the tons of flowering bushes she had grown.

She appeared like the queen of flowers sitting amidst them with butterflies dancing all around. Irrespective of her obnoxious personality, she was a powerful woman with an innate love for nature.

"Good morning!" I greeted her and she casually gestured to to take a seat.

I settled down and she pointed to an array of delicacies on the table in front.

"I hope you don’t diet. Try the Tarta de Limón (lemon cake); it’s rich in flavour." She hurled another mocking quip my way. It almost elicited a cynical smile from . I failed to understand why won always tried to bring other won down instead of lifting them up.

"I don’t, life is too small to spend on dieting."

Reaching out I platted the largest piece on my plate and began to ravish it in delight. She could only watch wearily.

"If you wish to survive in this ga of rising to the top, then you will need to keep yourself interesting and that won’t happen with only eating." Her eyes tiredly road over my body. "n get tired of won too easily and will one day leave for a younger, smarter woman." The last part seed to have been spoken from her experience.

I wanted to jab back that if it happened to her, it didn’t an it would happen to as well, but I held my tongue; my parents had raised better than this. Although I had a sharp tongue, I respected my elders.

"Not all n are the sa, Mrs Chevalier and I am confident you raised Karsten to be a man with principles." I knew boosting soone’s ego always softens soone’s heart. She instantly smiled.

"You are indeed a clever one, no wonder he likes you and brought you ho." She delicately brought the teacup to her red-painted lips and took a small sip, but her clever eyes remained focused on .

"I will take that as a complint." My tea arrived and both of us enjoyed it under the cool morning weather. The blue sky was sprinkled with random clouds but it wasn’t as cold as it was in Marcia City.

My phone pinged, and I checked to see if it was a ssage from Stella. Clicking it open, my hands shook as I read what she had sent.

Oh! No, this would be a disaster we had to get back.

Thankfully, Karsten walked out and went straight to his mother. Kissing her cheek he draped himself on the chair beside her.

"Good morning! Ma."

So he could greet others like a normal human being.

Fresh and slling like the forest after the rain, he was always picture-perfect. His expressions seed calr but he didn’t glance in my direction.

Still, ignoring . Huh!

"You are heading back?" Camilla asked, and I could discern hints of sadness buried in her voice.

"Yes, and I am not sure when I will be able to return. We have so new important projects coming up and with the Winter Gala just a month and half away, I will be busy."

Camilla let out a long sigh and placed her cup down.

"I understand but try whenever you get ti."

He gave a slight nod.

"I will."

Camilla stood up. "I will arrange for breakfast before you people head out." She gracefully walked away, leaving us alone.

Karsten had stapled his hands and still refused to glance in my direction. But I needed to speak to him.

"We need to hurry back, I need to reach ho before evening."

His head turned to watch wearily.

"Everything fine back there?" Sothing in my voice must have been triggering for him to pick up on it.

Shaking my head, I let out a frustrated sigh and confided in him.

"No, my parents are coming to visit , secretly. But my friend inford ahead of ti so I could reach back. They have no clue about this contract between us and I would like to keep it that way."

Karsten’s hardened facial expressions softened instantly and he answered.

"We will leave right after breakfast. Don’t worry, we will reach there before them."
