(Karsten)

Her broken painful voice jagged at my heart. I shouldn’t have left her side today but because of the asshole tied with the chains, I had to.

My hands tightened into balls of steel and I wanted to rip his head off his body for making miss such essential monts.

Giving him another death glare I told Hades with clenched teeth.

"Take care of him, I need to get to my wife."

"Don’t worry. You go be at our Queen’s side. I will handle everything here."

He handed a handkerchief to wipe my hands and face. I couldn’t go to the hospital looking like I had just butchered soone. Although there was no ti to change my shirt which had blotches of blood splattered on the front.

My feet rapidly moved as I left the dungeon. My car was waiting for with a substitute driver available.

Before he could open the door for , I quickly said, "I will drive."

He bowed and respectfully stepped aside. I ramd the Bluetooth device in my ear so I could receive calls directly.

Driving like a madman, I didn’t even care for the red lights. I needed to get to her, hold her hand and ensure she was safe.

Giving birth was an arduous and painful process and I had to be by her side.

I zigzagged through the traffic with a hardened jaw. My phone rang again and the call connected.

It was Ma. "Karsten, where are you? We have arrived at the hospital and Arata is asking for you. She has gone into labour," her frantic voice ca, making my heart sink.

She was already in labour. What if the baby ca before I got there?

"I am just a few minutes away."

"Hurry! We are in the maternity ward." She added before ending the call.

I hit top speed, and the world blurred around . Never slowing down, until I arrived outside the hospital and took a sharp cut with my Lamborghini to enter the hospital parking area.

Parking it in the spot, I rushed out like a twister and sprinted towards the maternity ward.

My mind only buzzed with her na and thoughts. ’Hold on, I am coming.’

Opening the doors, I entered and found Ma and Skyla standing together near the entrance, talking. Smiles of relief descended on their faces upon seeing .

"Go, go. She just went into labour. She needs you." Ma didn’t waste any ti eting ; instead, she pointed towards the corridor where the delivery room was.

My feet were already moving, and the heels of my oxfords thumped against the clean marble floor of the hospital.

"It’s the second one," she called from behind . I nodded but kept running.

Pushing with both my hands, I opened the double doors and entered the corridor frantically glancing around to find room no. 2.

A nurse saw and imdiately recognised .

"Mr Toledo, this way." She guided forward, and I followed. She pushed open the door of room no.2, and Arata’s scream welcod .

My heart leapt out of my chest and into my mouth. My Phoenix was strong, she didn’t cry or scream easily, aning this labour was pushing all her boundaries.

This was going to be harder than anticipated, and I knew she had refused to take an epidural.

The glass partition separated us as she was lying on the other side of it. My feet shuffled, my head spun as I rounded the glass partition and she ca into view.

Sprawled on the bed with her legs spread so wide, clad only in one of those hospital gowns I hated so much.

Her shoulder-length vermilion hair, half matted on her forehead and neck from the sweating. Machines had been hooked to her, their monitors were beeping and showing different charts and lines.

Her doctor was positioned between her legs while another was monitoring her stats. A nurse held a small glass with so fluid in it.

For a second, the floor seed to have swallowed my feet, and I couldn’t move, seeing such a scene unfolding in front of .

I had just walked out of punching a man until his face was unrecognisable and didn’t even blink but this—this was too much for .

"Karstennnn!" Her painful voice had so sense knocking into . "You are here....Thank God....you are here," she cried out, her shaking hand reaching towards .

I rushed to be by her side.

"I am here, my Phoenix." My trembling hand reached out and wiped away the damp hair and sweat from her forehead. With my other hand, I clutched her right one in mine.

Cold, her hand was cold and sweaty. It closed against mine like a mousetrap. She squeezed so hard as the doctor said, "Now, push. I can see the head."

So she had just begun—this was going to be a long, painful process, and I wasn’t sure if I was ready for this. But I had to be.

I pressed against her wet forehead, and her determined eyes flew towards . I held her unwavering but slightly afraid gaze.

"Push, Arata. Let’s et our baby," I encouraged.

She filled her lungs and Dr Alvia’s voice ca. "Hold your breath in and give a push."

She obeyed but her mouth flew open and a scream tumbled out, piercing my heart like a shard of glass.

I tightened my hold on her hand and turned towards the doctor with my forehead furrowed and eyes narrowed. "Can’t we give her sothing for the pain?"

The doctor shook her head with a flattened mouth. "The safest option is an epidural and Arata refused it."

"I....can...do it," Arata’s determined voice ca, "Just stay with ."

"I am not going anywhere." Leaning in, I placed my lips on the top of her head and felt her shaking. "You can do it, my beautiful wife. You are the bravest woman."

"Push, Arata." The doctor instructed again and my hands held her tightly, my eyes closed as she let out another scream and followed through.

The nurse handed the container of the fluid and instructed to give her sips in between.

Minutes ticked by or maybe hours, I lost track of ti. My heart ached so painfully seeing her in such a condition.

Arata was right when she said she only wanted three babies. Seeing her like that, I had begun to think, we could be satisfied with one.

I couldn’t see her like this again. She was a ss of tears and sweat. I couldn’t even see what was going to co out of her body.

"One more push, Arata. We are almost there.

Too many screams, too many emotions and with literal sweat and blood, my wife gave one final push, and the doctor reached out to receive our baby.

"There you are, little one," her excited and pleased voice ca.

Arata collapsed back in the bed and my arms went around her as I just held her to my heart. She sobbed into my chest, clearly exhausted from the ordeal.

"You did well. I am so proud of you," my words ca out choked with emotion. My lips rested on her cold temple.

And then I heard a tiny cry, the cry of our baby and my eyes darted in the direction of the creature we had made together.
