(Arata)
The day of 14th February dawned like any other but little did I know it would turn into mayhem and chaos.
The falling of this particular day on Sunday didn’t help because Baba was ho. We had a quiet breakfast. My nausea hit from the sll of fried eggs, and I couldn’t eat anything except so orange juice.
Bitu perched up on my shoulder so I decided to go sit outside on the patio swing and sll the flowers to make that uneasiness go away.
My phone pinged. Karsten’s na floated on the notification bar and my heart deliciously clenched. It yearned to see him, to be in his arms.
He sent ssages daily and I always read them without replying. But that self-control was slipping away with every passing day.
Picking it up, I swiped to see what he had sent.
{Blue Rose!
It’s a special day today so I am coming to see you. Please! Let see you and et our unborn baby. It has been too long.}
Panic settled in my stomach. This was bad. Baba would never let him in and he wouldn’t leave without eting .
My fingers trembled as I thought of a response but nothing, I could type nothing.
My heart wouldn’t let say no to him. I promised him, he could co et his baby whenever he wanted.
A few minutes passed while I contemplated what to say when Andy’s ssage dropped.
{I want to co see you, Arata, and take you out for Valentine’s Day. Be ready in two hours.:-*}
Oh God! Save , this was brewing to be a disaster. My head hurt from thinking of what would happen if Karsten and Andy were to co face to face.
Getting up I began to impatiently take a stroll in the garden with my heart hamring against my chest. Bitu settled on my shoulder, nipping at my ear to get my attention.
"Arrr! Arrr!"
I paced and panicked until I heard my phone pinged again. It was Karsten.
{Co outside, in the driveway. Please!}
Quickly I made my way towards the gate, my heart trying to jump out of my chest from anticipation.
Whirring sounds I heard on top of my head, as I lifted it to watch tens of drones carrying what seed like gift pouches in shades of red and blue.
As they reached above , the pouches opened and it rained blue rose petals on . Thousands and thousands of them.
Bitu shrieked and flew away from , seeking refuge in a tree.
srised and speechless, I watched them bathe with their velvety touch and unique fragrance.
Raising my hands I welcod them.
Soon I was standing in a sea of blue, stunned out of my mind.
This had Karsten written all over it. I hadn’t recovered from this when small parachutes began to land all around with GPS trackers on them to find the exact location.
They carried gifts in all shapes and sizes–from a walnut to a large waterlon.
Even our guard stood stunned, watching it rain down petals and gifts.
Unbelievable, leave it to Karsten to do the unthinkable. I knew it in my guts, this was him making a grand entrance.
Brushing off petals from my shoulders and cap, I stepped forward, wading through the velvety petals. Reaching the main gate I told the guard to open it.
He instantly obeyed and threw it open.
There he stood, as usual in his dress pants and muscle-hugging shirt...only today he had chosen to wear red.
His hands clasped in front like a man humbled, holding a bouquet of Blue Roses.
His eyes glowed like dark flas of passion, watching and only .
I could easily drown in those bottomless voids of his.
Not a hair out of place, or wrinkle on his clothing. Perfection from head to toe, this man always was. Exuding power and danger at the sa ti.
The phoenix tattoo sat proudly on the back of his right hand.
"Phoenix!" He called in that hypnotically pleasing voice of his which made all my senses freeze. I wanted to rush towards him, let him wrap his huge arms around and claim those full lips.
"Co!" He ushered , and like an iron dummy, I was pulled to his magnetic self when a voice halted on the threshold of our gate.
"Arata!" It was Baba’s stern voice. My body locked over, and desperation clung to , but I dared not take a step.
The relaxed contours of Karsten’s face suddenly stiffened, seeing halt.
Slowly I turned away to face Baba. He and Mom had stepped out of the Mansion, most probably after hearing the drones.
He stood there with his arms folded. Every inch of his face was etched in angst and fury. His gaze shifted from to Karsten.
Oh! No, this was going to turn ssy. Mom seed to have the sa kind of thought swirling in her mind as she watched with a pained expression.
"Mr Kincaid, can I et your daughter?" Karsten humbly sought permission and my heart beat faster and faster.
"No!" Baba instantly refused. Breathing out with a controlled voice but the way his nostrils flared, I could sense he was barely controlling his rage.
Desperately I stole a glance at Karsten, my eyes heavy. His lips had thinned but he slowly nodded at , urging to obey my father and not forcing to act against his wishes.
"It’s alright, Arata. Go to your room."
Letting out a heavy sigh, I turned and began to slowly walk back towards the mansion.
"Close the gate, and no one will open it without my permission," Baba gave another order to the guard, and it was quickly obeyed.
I turned and watched Karsten slowly disappear from my sight, leaving a large void in my heart.
Before Baba would give another order to throw away all the gifts, I told the house helpers.
"Bring all these gifts to my room." They nodded at .
"I want this driveway and lawn cleared in half an hour," Baba gave his own order and everyone quickly scrambled.
Thankfully, he didn’t order them to throw away the gifts or I would have argued with him.
Quietly, I walked past Baba and Mom. She rubbed my back but didn’t stop .
Like a tired and broken woman, I climbed the stairs and closed the door of my room, hoping to find a shard of peace.
Soon the screeching of a car from outside the main door had rushing towards my window. It opened towards the garden and provided a view of the whole road outside our main door.
What new hell must have broken out now?
And then I spotted Andy and Karsten face-to-face.
