(Arata)
Later, I tried to apologise to Baba, but it didn’t work. The only way this point of dispute could be settled between us—was if I gave up on Karsten.
And I wasn’t ready for that.
"Give him and yourself ti, Arata. Both of you have been through enough and emotions are high. I am trying to persuade him," Mom told with a broken smile.
I could sense the tenseness in the house and even Mom and Baba seed strained with each other.
It broke , to beco a cause of their distress. I had hardly been sleeping at night.
"Miss Stella and Miss Cherry are here to see you," the house help, Martha, respectfully inford us, breaking my miserable line of thoughts.
"Invite them in," Mom said with a smile.
Vibrant and full of energy they entered carrying gifts.
"Arata!" Stella rushed to be by my side. We hugged each other. Cherry greeted Mom.
"Aunt Skyla, how are you?" She asked.
"Never better. Why don’t you girls sit and I will arrange for so snacks," Mom suggested, getting up.
"Actually, we are here to fetch Arata. We are going to choose my wedding dress and wanted to take her along," Cherry told Mom and faced .
Mom turned her head to watch , ensuring I wasn’t overwheld by the request. I gave her an assuring nod.
"I will be fine. I think it will be good to get out of the house," I answered, standing up.
"Let’s go," Stella whistled. She seed in a particularly good mood, or maybe they were just all smiles for my sake.
"Give 10 minutes to get ready," I requested and headed up while the girls stayed behind with Mom.
Changing into a warm dress, I chose a red scarf to cover my head and applied light makeup. Once I was ready I headed down.
Kissing Mom goodbye we headed out.
Hades was on duty today and he promptly stepped forward, asking.
"My Queen! Are you heading out?" His eyes wandered to my friends. Cherry elbowed Stella in a silent language. I knew they were going to give an earful at that title later.
"Yes! I am going out with my friends," I inford him.
"May I drive? I will remain invisible." I exchanged a look with Stella and Cherry.
"We don’t mind. It’s better and gives us the freedom to gossip freely," Cherry told and stepped forward, handing her car keys to Hades.
He quietly accepted. The keys looked so small in his large hands.
Soon we settled in the back seat of Cherry’s car while we headed out, driven by Hades. The man was scary and I was sure anyone would think twice before even approaching us.
"So what is your preference?" I asked, turning to face Cherry. She was checking her makeup in a pocket mirror.
"Sothing very unique. I want a lot of lace, net and also stonework." She flipped the mirror close. Her smooth olive skin had very little makeup and that added to her charm.
"We should hit Stacey’s first. They always have unique designs and can even create on personal requests," Stella added, typing on her phone.
"Sure," Cherry added the directions in the car’s GPS and Hades drove smoothly. His sharp hawk-like eyes stayed on the road, and sohow, I felt safe.
Soon we arrived at Stacy’s and filed out. Hades kept the door open for us and guided us to the glass door of the boutique.
"He is scary but seems dedicated," Cherry whispered to as we entered the boutique.
I nodded.
"Welco to Stacey’s. How may I help you today?" A tall but sweet girl welcod us with a pleasant smile.
"We would like to look at so wedding dresses," Cherry inford her.
"It will be my pleasure to be your guide on that. This way, please."
We were soon seated on the velvety sofas and served champagne. I declined and asked for so water instead.
Dress after dress were displayed in front of us and Cherry took our opinion on all of them. We narrowed down our choice to five.
"I will try them on and see which one works best."
She walked away with two helpers. Leaving Stella and behind.
"How are you doing? You appear stressed, Arata. Did sothing happen?" Stella asked, placing her phone in her bag. She always noticed, no matter how much I tried to hide.
I sighed heavily. A boulder seed to permanently rest on my heart.
"Baba is very cross with because I refused to accept Andy back or give him a second chance while I am considering doing it for Karsten."
Now, saying it out loud seed so ridiculous to , and I could imagine how it felt for others.
"I can understand how Uncle Zyair must be feeling. Like throwing away a chance at a normal relationship just to pursue a Mafia Lord. But truth be told, I don’t like Andy, never did. And Karsten is the father of your child. I can understand why you are making this decision."
An appreciative smile broke out on my lips. She understood .
"It’s causing a lot of tension in the house and Baba is not speaking with . He said I disappointed him," I told her with a heavy heart and she placed her arm around my shoulder.
"Oh! Arata, I am sorry. I wish this was easier but adult life is filled with such disappointnts. Parents love us too much and our choices which they don’t agree with can hurt them."
Our conversation was interrupted when Cherry appeared draped in a lacey net gown, looking ethereal.
"Wow! That’s just amazing. Look how it sits with your curves," I complinted her and she took a swirl for us with all her charms.
"I love it on you, Cherry. Definitely has the vibe," Stella added, giving her two thumbs-ups.
"Sa, let try others and choose the best one." She walked away with the helpers.
We waited as she tried the other gowns and all of us settled on the first one. It passed the vibe check and had all the elents Cherry was looking for.
"Thanks, girls, for choosing it with . Now that I have the dress, I am feeling more relaxed. Love you both." She offered us a collective hug and we were just happy that she found the perfect dress for her big day.
