(Arata)

I stared at the plate he had brought feeling sick to my stomach. He wouldn’t acknowledge my feelings but brought food.

Why did he care if I ate or not?

Wasn’t I only an opportunity for him to sate his lust?

n like him didn’t want an emotional connection with won, they just wanted aningless sex.

Didn’t he get it already?

How long before he brought another woman ho to fuck her?

Who knew, he already was.

I wondered how much that would hurt. When I would actually see him with soone else. No matter how strongly I try to act. That will break .

Seeing Andy with soone else almost killed my heart and now Karsten was going to go down the exact sa path.

And was he going to use my weakness for my family to get his way, every ti I wouldn’t listen to him?

The idea irritated beyond asure.

I tried to take a spoonful of rice but my throat swallowed them with difficulty while my stomach knotted.

Pushing the plate away I climbed back into the bed.

His mom couldn’t have chosen the worst ti to co over but that ant I would be shifting to his room.

That was an opportunity, I could snoop around his room and look for clues.

Anything to tie him with what had transpired and how much he knew about before I ca into his life.

Any clue to see if he was connected to the stalker in any way. Despite everything, my heart still refused to believe that Karsten would be linked to whoever was trying to destroy my life.

The conflicted thoughts, combined with a massive heartache, kept awake for a long ti before I finally drifted to sleep.

The next day, Asbela brought breakfast in the room, and her gaze went to my unfinished plate from last night.

"You didn’t eat?"

While styling my hair, I shot Asbela a pleading look and lied.

"Can you not tell him that? I am trying to lose weight and he keeps feeding ."

Asbela appeared surprised while picking up the plate.

"You are dieting? But why? You are perfect the way you look."

I shook my head.

"I need to shed a few pounds. Let’s keep this to ourselves, and if he asks you, I ate properly."

Asbela was a girl’s girl because she gave an understanding nod.

After helping with my morning routine, she handed a sandwich.

"Don’t starve yourself though. Breakfast is important."

I thanked her deeply and left the room to head to the office with Caysir. The devil of the house was nowhere to be seen so he had either left or would co later.

Thanking my luck for not coming face-to-face with him, I stepped out in the cold freezing wind of late December. It was biting and I was glad to be wearing my coat and gloves.

Quickly, I settled in the car, but before we could head out, the door opened from the other side, and he barged in.

The scent of his perfu invaded my nostrils, making my agitation rise and my heart plunge into the sea of need.

Once what used to be a comforting sll just put on edge now. Knowing I could never have him. He was an entitled bastard like most of the rich guys.

He reeked of tobacco, too. Has he been smoking on an empty stomach, and that too so early in the morning?

The man truly had a death wish and I wrinkled my nose in annoyance.

Again, like the devil from the deepest part of hell, he wore all black with a long woollen coat.

"Morning!" He grunted as if I was waiting for his greeting.

Once, I used to, but now I simply didn’t care. If it was possible, I would have gone as far away from him as this world would permit.

The manipulation of this man knew no bounds and he could go to any length to exercise control on others.

I ignored his presence and shrank away from his body, shifting closer to the door.

His sharp eyes took in my movents and I could sense him watching .

"Seatbelt!" He muttered and I was thankful he didn’t lean in to fasten it himself as had beco his habit. I had beco so accustod to him fastening my seat belt that it completely slipped my mind.

Grabbing it, I fastened the belt around without giving him a look and the car roared to life.

My focus shifted to the outside. Christmas was just around the corner and people were putting up decorations and Christmas trees. Holidays would begin soon and I could finally return and et my family.

"We will have to return together; Ma will be here and she is planning on staying till Christmas," he inford of his mother’s plans as if I was dying to hear them.

Putting him on ignore, I continued to gaze outside without giving him a look. Although my heart constantly ached in his presence the pain had crept up in the folds and settled for an eternity.

Seeing stay quiet, Karsten didn’t initiate any more conversation with and I was grateful.

Reaching the office, he got down and waited as Caysir escorted up the stairs. I could sense his eyes on my back until the door to the stairs closed.

Arriving in my cubicle, I settled down and began my day. It dragged on, but Chan’s bubbly personality and relaxed atmosphere in the sales departnt kept going, and I didn’t plunge into further depression.

Miranda arrived with her usual gossip from upstairs and lunch. She handed a box with chicken rice and wantons.

"Mr Karsten is giving such a hard ti to Nasia. I am not sure how long she will survive. Poor girl seems to be on the verge of tears every ti she exits his office. He made her bring him coffee seven tis today and still didn’t drink it."

I shook my head at the news. That was so like him, I wondered if he was taking out all his frustration on her.

"Only you have the patience to endure his moods," I comnted while playing with my rice.

"And Mr Ranold," Miranda added and I nodded at her.

Thinking of Ranold, I noticed he hadn’t made an appearance since our fallout and wondered if he knew.

I might have wondered aloud because when it was ti to head ho, Ranold was waiting for instead of Caysir. Leaning against the opposite wall, like a model posing for his photoshoot.

"Hello! Arata. Mind if I walk you to the car?" He asked with his extrely charming smile.
