My Blacksmith System: Transforming my Weapons into Beautiful Maidens Chapter 29: Teleport crystal
Sowhere in the capital.
The sound of the wagon moving across the uneven terrain echoed.
Inside the back of the said wagon were Rashin and his subordinates.
It wasn't long after they had hung the bodies of the Hakias in the forest that they hopped on the wagon of a lone traveler who was also heading towards the sa place they planned on going.
Although they had to pay for the ride, it wasn't really an issue considering they had money to spare.
"Hey, are you asleep yet?" Eri suddenly asked, her back resting on the wall with her body covered with a small fabric.
She could barely open her eyes, the fatigue still weighing down on her.
"No, not yet," replied Rashin.
In his hand was his bow, while Daki fell asleep on his lap.
"You're working?"
"Yeah, you don't have to stay awake. I told you I'll keep watching," Rashin said to her.
Eri had already inford the group that the journey could take two days, which ant there was a chance they would have to travel at night.
Moving through the dangerous forest at such a ti was risky. Hence, one person needed to keep watch, excluding the driver, of course.
A small smile ford on Eri's lips. "Sotis... I forget how generous you can be." She fell asleep a few seconds after saying that.
Sigh!
'I can't tell what goes through that head of hers. Sotis she's obnoxious, and other tis she's just... a girl.'
Rembering correctly, his sister had a similar behavior. She would always complain over the smallest things, often get clingy, and other tis, she was simply an angel.
The thought of that placed a smile on Rashin's face.
He quickly dismissed it, turning his attention to the bow in his hand.
[Na: Wooden Bow. Level: Lvl 51. (Upgradeable.)]
Other than the Balsamic armor, Rashin had never seen any of his weapons have the upgradeable option.
One of the reasons was probably because none of them had gotten to level 50 before.
'Is this supposed to be similar to the Soul Stone upgrade?'
[Upgrade.]
The button was staring right at him.
Tap!
He clicked on it.
[You have upgraded the Wooden Bow.]
[Na: Wind Piercer. Level: 51.]
[ 7 Accuracy, 6 Magic, 6 ATK.]
"Oh..."
Rashin watched as the bow took on a new form. Rather than the plain bow it had always been, it now held a silver aura, having a more balanced structure for holding.
'It does look ten tis better than before. I'm impressed.'
Rashin sent the weapon back into his armory.
It was just then that he sensed sothing outside the wagon.
'I've been ignoring it for a while. I thought it was probably a coincidence. But if they've been following only this wagon for the past hour, then it wouldn't be wise for to just sit idly by.'
Gently standing up, he rested Daki's head on the chair and walked toward the entrance of the wagon.
Using one hand, he opened the curtain, and there he saw them.
Wild wolves.
Each one was two tis the size of an average human. They seed to be flanking the wagon—while so were at the back, others took the sides.
'So they are wolves, huh...'
Rashin used his [Appraisal] skill on them.
[Na: Forest Wolves.
Rank: C Rank (Upper).]
Fighting them shouldn't be a problem if the wolves were targeting only him, but from how they were flanking the wagon despite having a good look at Rashin, it wouldn't be a surprise if they planned on killing everyone inside.
Rashin closed the curtains and made his way toward the front side of the wagon, where the driver was.
"Sir, I don't an to alarm you, but there is an issue we need to take care of very quickly," Rashin whispered through the small hole.
"Yeah, you're talking about the wolves chasing us, aren't you?" the driver spoke back. "I spotted them chasing us a while back. Fast and relentless, those creatures."
Rashin was surprised and confused.
"You knew they were chasing us, and you still continued to move at this speed?" he asked judgntally.
"What? You think outrunning a Forest Wolf is sothing that can be done? Co on, this road is a straight line, with no corners. Forest Wolves don't get tired. They'll keep chasing us until we're right in their mouths."
Rashin looked, as if trying to embrace the sight of the girls sleeping before looking back at the man.
"If we can't escape them, killing them is the only option. Which is why I ca here—I need you to speed up the horses."
"What?"
"I don't want the wolves to get into the wagon while I'm attacking them. If I fight them while you move, I should be able to give you enough ti to create a good distance between yourself and the wolves."
The driver was silent for a while.
In his hand was a small box. It contained a magic crystal, sothing that was supposed to help him in case he ran into any trouble while traveling.
Whenever he ran into trouble, he would simply use the crystal to teleport to a nearby place, far away from where the issue was.
Most rchants and travelers did this.
The only issue was, it could only transport one person at a ti. Any more, and the teleporting crystal would shut down.
The driver had already made up his mind upon seeing the wolves. He planned on teleporting away from the scene, leaving his passengers to fend for themselves.
Chances of the wolves destroying the wagon were slim—they would most likely only break a few things to get to the humans, and that was all. The driver could always just co back in the morning.
Gulping down his saliva, the man stared at the crystal, unable to co to a conclusion on whether to disappear for his safety or simply trust the man behind him.
He gritted his teeth, fear already wrapping around his face.
Suddenly—
Baam!
One of the wolves crashed against the wagon.
