Lu Qing drove through the red light ahead, unable to quell his nervousness. He was constantly on the phone, getting closer to them as he followed the route his assistant had described. The surrounding area felt increasingly desolate, and his mood beca more agitated.

"Lu Qing, now is the ti we must stay calm."

Lu Qing’s anxiety was intensified by ng Yan’s words; though he was well aware. Qin Miaomiao’s danger was a wake-up call for him, thinking his own abilities could protect those around him, only to realize he couldn’t even protect his own beloved. Annoyed, he began formulating a concrete idea.

"Green light."

ng Yan noticed he was distracted and reminded him that the green light ant he could drive again.

"Rong Lan, are you okay?"

The iron rod wielded by Rong Lan missed its target, and he was instead wounded by the man’s knife. He looked at the sudden spray of blood on his shirt, frowning involuntarily, followed by Qin Miaomiao’s startled exclamation: "You’re bleeding."

"It’s nothing, just a cut, doesn’t hurt."

"Still trying to act tough. Before I unleash my fury upon you, I’ll give you one last chance. Drop your weapons and surrender, maybe I’ll spare one of you."

"We’re not stupid."

Qin Miaomiao was anxious about Rong Lan’s injury, and angrily cursed at the man.

"You’re asking for this yourselves."

The man said as he lunged at Qin Miaomiao with the knife, prompting her to instinctively separate from Rong Lan.

Rong Lan fought back with his iron rod against the man, both rolling amidst the weeds. After a physical tussle, Rong Lan started to lose ground. Seeing this, Qin Miaomiao grabbed a brick from the warehouse entrance, eager to target the man as the two brawled.

Rong Lan, noticing this, discarded his rod, giving the man an opportunity.

Seeing this, Qin Miaomiao hit the man’s head with the brick.

"Ah!"

The man fell directly, and Rong Lan pushed him aside, picked up his rod, and said to the dumbstruck Qin Miaomiao: "Quick, let’s run!"

"Is he... is he dead?"

Seeing Qin Miaomiao trembling with fear, Rong Lan couldn’t help but hold her: "He won’t die, but his accomplices will be here soon. Miao Miao, we need to run."

"Okay."

With a tremor in her voice, Qin Miaomiao firmly grasped Rong Lan’s hand, and they both sprinted down the small path among the weeds.

Lu Qing parked his car near the coordinates, spotting several vehicles by the roadside, he quickly got out and contacted his assistant. It was then he noticed they had gone on foot into the thicket.

"Are you sure they’re nearby?"

Lu Qing said as he walked off the highway, spotting the uneven path, his brow furrowed tightly.

ng Yan watched him speaking on the phone, unsure of the specifics, and anxiously followed him down. Soon he caught sight of two figures in the distance.

"Guided by the gas station staff’s tips, we scouted nearby and finally discovered several abandoned factories. Apparently, it used to be a manufacturing site, but the severe waste discharge led to its shutdown. It went bankrupt last year, leaving it deserted."

"So, it’s likely they went to the abandoned factories?"

The assistant, with uncertainty, eyed Lu Qing and said: "Sorry, I can’t be sure, but the search has expanded to within three kiloters of the available properties. I’ll call you as soon as there’s news."

Lu Qing kicked the ground in frustration: "I don’t want uncertain answers. I need to know where Miao Miao is imdiately!"

The assistant saw him losing his temper and couldn’t help but apologize with lowered head.

ng Yan, witnessing this, frowned and said: "Rather than venting here, let’s focus on finding them. They might have escaped."
