Director Li snorted coldly, "That woman doesn’t know what’s good for her!"
Mo Wenwan looked aggrieved, "I only introduced her because of Young Master Lu’s connection, but she’s just a woman Young Master Lu is playing with for the mont. When his interest fades, she’ll probably be discarded. By then, whatever Director Li wants to do with her will all be up to you, won’t it?"
Director Li’s expression finally softened a bit, his gaze shifting to sothing peculiar as he even reached out to grab her hand, saying:
"You’re the sensible one."
Mo Wenwan subtly pulled her hand back, thinking to herself how this old man dared to try and take advantage of her, not even considering his own worth.
Still, she had to keep up appearances, since these people would be quite useful to her later on.
Xue Sheng walked over and stood behind her. As soon as Director Li caught sight of him, ah, another one with a claim. He wasn’t lacking won anyway, so he tactfully went off to chat with soone else.
Xue Sheng was full of jealousy, "Wen Wan, how co you’ve been circling around Qin Miaomiao and Lu Qing all night? Don’t tell you still have feelings left for Lu Qing?"
Mo Wenwan looked at him with an air of grievance, "How could that be? I’ve long given up on Lu Qing."
"Then why have you suddenly beco distant with ?"
Mo Wenwan appeared increasingly wronged, "You’re Lv Pingting’s boyfriend. If I get too close to you, those people will start gossiping again."
"Why would they? I’ve already made it clear to Pingting, I’m breaking up with her. Will you agree to be with ?"
To be honest, Xue Sheng wasn’t a bad option overall, but as a backup, sure—just not as a boyfriend. Besides, Lv Pingting still had her uses.
She quickly shook her head, "Young Master Xue, I’m not ready to talk about relationships right now. Can you give so ti? Pingting is a good girl; you shouldn’t treat her this way."
Xue Sheng couldn’t help but say, "Wen Wan, you’re truly a kind-hearted woman. Don’t worry, I’ll handle her and won’t let her be an obstacle between us. Honestly, she should’ve co to this show; how could she act all moody and not show up?"
Mo Wenwan was already growing impatient and didn’t want to entertain him anymore. Yet she said:
"She said she twisted her ankle, Young Master Xue. How about you go check on her? I’m worried she’s still upset with . Truthfully, she’s a really good friend to , and I don’t want to lose her."
"Fine, for you, I’ll go calm her down again."
Only then did Mo Wenwan feel reassured. Watching Xue Sheng’s affectionate gaze, she pretended to be shy and lowered her head.
Once out of the venue, Qin Miaomiao finally felt her breath ease up a bit. She had initially thought Mo Wenwan would stir up so trouble this ti, but unexpectedly, she rely switched tactics. On the surface, it seed like she wanted to build a friendship, and with her way of putting on a show, there really wasn’t much to fault.
Well, this just makes things interesting. Judging by her intentions, there would undoubtedly be more clashes to co.
"Honey, what do you think Mo Wenwan is really up to?"
Lu Qing’s lips curved slightly, "What she’s up to—you’ve already figured it out, haven’t you? Why ask ?"
"I just want to know if what I’m thinking matches what you’re thinking. People often say n see won differently from how won see won. Tonight, she deliberately pulled around introducing this person and that person, acting as if she really considers a good friend."
Lu Qing replied indifferently, "What she’s up to doesn’t matter; what matters is whether you want to play along."
"Play, of course! Why not? Without rivals, life would be so dull, wouldn’t it?"
"That’s why I didn’t stop you."
"But how does she know so many greasy old n? I really admire her networking skills; dealing with these n who’ve been navigating the entertainnt industry for so long—I even find it disgusting just to say a word to them."
