Lu Lingche nodded and waved for his assistant to leave, left to drink alone.
The cool drink slid down his throat, stimulating his senses and numbing his nerves.
Outside it was pouring rain, he was alone in the empty villa, his heart aching as though it was about to split in two.
Alcohol could numb the brain, why not the heartache?
Why was it becoming more painful?
The divorce agreent was on the sofa, Qiao Yin's signature on it was a stab to his eyes.
What had co over him?
Wasn't he the one who proposed the divorce? Why was it that her signature didn't ease his mood but instead made him feel a never-ending gloom?
There were hurried footsteps.
He looked up and saw the Old Madam rush in.
"Lingche!"
Old Madam's face was pale, "I heard that Qiao Yin lost the child she was carrying. Is that true?"
"It's true."
"Did you make her abort?!"
Lu Lingche mocked in a cold laugh, "? You overestimate , I don't have that capability."
"If not you, then who?"
"It was my mom and Qiao Yin, who worked together behind my back. My mom gave five million, Qiao Yin took the money, aborted the child and I was only inford after the child was gone."
There was a chill in Lu Lingche's voice: "They took action first then reported to , I didn't even have the basic right to know. The two of them, what a good mother-in-law and daughter-in-law pair!"
"Impossible!"
The Old Madam imdiately shook her head: "Yinyin is not that kind of person. She would never abort her child for money! She also would never collaborate with your mom!"
"She would."
Lu Lingche took another big gulp of alcohol, finally feeling a touch of drunkenness. His smile carried a sense of tragedy, "She admitted it herself, she wanted the money, not my child. Grandma, don't believe her anymore, she's a liar, she's really good at pretending and deceiving."
"Nonsense, if Yinyin is a liar, then there are no good people in this world!"
Old Madam watched him gulp down alcohol without stopping, she couldn't bear it and snatched the bottle from him: "What are you doing! I didn't know that you have a drinking problem! Are you bothered by sothing?"
"What could possibly bother ? I'm ecstatic! Today, I got divorced from Qiao Yin, I'm free. Shouldn't I celebrate with a drink?"
Old Madam was shocked, she dropped the bottle, and picked up the divorce agreent from the sofa.
She skimd through it, feeling a chill in her heart: "Yinyin signed it?"
"Yes, she signed it very willingly. It seems she didn't want to be my wife for a second longer. That's fine, I don't want her as my wife either, I'm very happy!"
Old Madam was sharp: "I don't see any happiness in you, all I see is an appearance of being dumped, drinking heavily late in the night, your mind is not even clear. If I didn't know better, I'd think you're heartbroken."
"Ridiculously! I don't like her, so where does heartbreak co from? Moreover, I am the one who dumped her, not the other way around! I was the one who proposed the divorce, I am the one who didn't want her!"
"You can keep being stubborn, there will co a ti when you regret it!"
"I will never regret it! Qiao Yin is the kind of woman who even trades her own child for money, she's simply unforgivable! She's just relying on her good looks to charm, what else does she have? Oh, she has a malicious heart."
"So now you admit that she is good-looking?"
"When did I ever say she wasn't good-looking?"
"Didn't you always say that you never get moved by a woman's charm? So what, has Yinyin chard you?"
"With her?"
Lu Lingche scoffed, "No one can charm !"
"Then why are you drinking like this? Are you upset about Qiao Yin losing the baby and drinking out of sadness, or are you drinking because you're upset about divorcing her?"
The alcohol had indeed slowed Lu Lingche's reaction. A glimr of confusion crossed his face, "Am I, upset?"
