On the evening of July 18th, at the Six Books Hotel, the sunset cast the shadows of window panes onto the room floor, while white curtains fluttered in the wind.

The AI Protagonist Wenyu awoke from bed, groggily turned over, and glanced up at the ceiling, then grabbed his phone to check incoming ssages.

[Li Qingping: Are you coming out? Are you coming out? While I still have ti.]

[Li Qingping: I have sothing in the evening; I’m free for just this mont these days. Don’t tell you’ve died again?]

Ji Minghuan raised an eyebrow, thinking to himself, Li Qingping, you’ve really got it — sneaking out while the Second Prince is sleeping, clearly neglecting your duties.

He got out of bed and walked toward the bathroom, pondering: If the Second Prince gets attacked while Li Qingping has sneaked out, wouldn’t Li Qingping be removed from his position when he returns to Whale Terrarium, or worse, be severely punished?

Thinking this, Ji Minghuan decided, for once, to be a good person, and sent a reply.

[Wenyu: You’re so busy; why not leave it for now? We can et up when we return to the country. After all, sumr vacation’s still long.]

[Li Qingping: It’s alright. It’s rare for us both to be in Japan; it’d be such a sha not to et.]

Ji Minghuan, while drying his face with a towel, glanced at the ssage, feeling more spirited. He secretly griped: Either Li Qingping truly considers a brother, or he isn’t concerned at all with the Anecdote Envoy’s matters.

It’s like soone in a sports event championship, on the night before the finals, suddenly asking you out for drinks and chat.

You might say, forget it; what if tomorrow’s performance isn’t good? He’d wave it off: It’s just the finals; nothing’s more important than drinks with a brother. At worst, don’t compete.

[Wenyu: Where to et?]

[Li Qingping: By the sea. I’ve sent the address to you.]

Ji Minghuan casually summoned a Restraint Incarnation and then left the hotel, taking a tram towards a seaside corner of the Harbor District. Shortly after getting off the tram, he followed the navigation and walked a bit before stopping on the coastal road.

Turning his head, he saw Li Qingping standing alone by the sea, picking up a flat stone from the beach and tossing it towards the surging waves.

The stone skipped quickly across the water’s surface, repeatedly jumping over tides, flying forward for dozens of ters, splashing waves until disappearing into the depths of the sea.

"Skipping stones on rising tides, not even trying to pretend, huh..."

Gazing at the stone shooting like a bullet across the sea surface, Ji Minghuan felt embarrassed for his close friend, thinking to himself that it’s quite sothing for the AI Wenyu to never notice Li Qingping’s oddities all these years.

Should I say, isn’t that just artificial intelligence?

But perhaps Li Qingping is in a bad mood, starting to give up, as he doesn’t seem to enjoy the Anecdote Terrarium’s world, being forced to accompany the Second Prince at auctions these days; it’s hard to avoid a reactive ntality.

Thinking this, Ji Minghuan crossed the coastal road’s fence, slid down the slope.

He stepped onto the beach and walked towards Li Qingping, who was still skipping stones by the sea.

"You’re punctual," Li Qingping remarked without turning his head.

He tossed out a stone, using far less force this ti, and it was instantly swallowed by the waves.

"So you brought out just to see the sea?" Ji Minghuan walked over, "What have you been up to lately, acting all neurotic?"

Saying this, he stopped beside Li Qingping, gazing with him at the sunset-lit sea.

Li Qingping seed a bit abnormal today, not the usual jokester.

The sea breeze was strong, so Ji Minghuan squinted slightly, watching sails ripple on the horizon.

Suddenly, Li Qingping bent over, picked up a flat stone from the beach, and said absentmindedly:

"Tell ... If there’s sothing you hate doing but have to do, what would you do?"

"Then don’t do it." Ji Minghuan said, "We only live once; what’s there to think about?"

"But it’s not that simple because this thing involves more than just you."

"Then tell , what’s it about? Otherwise, how can a brother help you with advice when it’s so vague?"

Li Qingping was silent for a mont, then took a deep breath and suddenly hurled the stone in his hand toward the sea.

"Forget it."

"Just do whatever you want." Ji Minghuan said as he picked up a stone from the beach and tossed it towards the sea. "Just don’t regret it later. We only live for a short while, and when your eyes close in the coffin, you won’t rember whether you did the right or wrong thing. You’ll only rember... what you didn’t get to do."

He watched his stone get swallowed by the white tides as a few white seagulls flew over the undulating sea surface.

"Even if it costs you a lot?" Li Qingping, looking at the bustling ships, had his trousers soaked by the sea.

"Even if the whole world dies out." Ji Minghuan tucked his hands into his pockets and added: "As long as you think it’s right, it’s worth it."

Li Qingping was silent for a mont, then suddenly quirked his lips, his braided black hair swaying in the wind, "You’re right."

"So what exactly is it?" Ji Minghuan shrugged, "If you’re thinking of doing sothing not good, then don’t mind what I just said; I don’t want to be blad for encouraging soone."
