Cold-toned lighting perated the Confinent Room as several children sat in front of the television, chattering back and forth about sothing. Their faces looked rather pale under the harsh glare.
Finally, after a group discussion, they decided to scrap the idea of coming up with a slogan.
Ji Minghuan seemingly never expected that even Kong Youling would refuse to support his proposed slogan. Deflated like a popped balloon, he hung his head and busied himself picking through the discs on the floor, ignoring the three people behind him.
A mont later, he suddenly asked, "By the way... do you guys know what the final, sixth child is nad?"
"The sixth child?" Filio muttered in confusion.
Ji Minghuan nodded. "Did the Tutor never ntion it to you? There's another little brat locked up in here who has bound a Mythic-tier Wonder. Out of all of you, does anyone know his na, or what kind of Wonder he possesses?"
Hearing this, the three children in front of the television exchanged blank looks.
"It's probably Zhu Bajie," Sun Changkong said, crossing her arms and snorting twice. "That way, I'd have a junior disciple."
"Boss, you already have plenty of underlings. You don't need a pig," Ji Minghuan said. "Besides... I feel like Zhu Bajie would be a Generational-tier Wonder at best. He wouldn't even be as good as Tang Seng."
"What's so great about Tang Seng?" Sun Changkong asked, sitting cross-legged and blinking at him curiously.
"Tang Seng is amazing," Ji Minghuan humd. "We could divide up his flesh and eat it, and then we'd gain immortality. We could all live together until the end of the world."
Filio's ears perked up straight, and a shiver ran through his entire body. "Ji Minghuan, I don't eat people, I don't eat people... I really don't eat people."
He whispered softly, curling up into a ball and hugging his tail while staring tremblingly at the floor.
Ji Minghuan froze. 'Looks like I accidentally poked the little wolfman's sore spot,' he thought.
"Alright, alright, I was just making a joke. I'd never make you eat people." He patted Filio's wolf ears. 'You're not even as good as that good-for-nothing Shasha,' he thought. 'Shasha eats everything.'
To change the subject, he turned to Mario, who was sitting on a chair, and continued asking,
"Mario, do you happen to know what the other Mythic-tier Wonder here is?"
"I think I heard the Tutor ntion it..." Mario said. "He said it was from a foreign mythology, but I forgot exactly which country."
"Greek mythology?" Ji Minghuan paused in surprise.
Mario expressionlessly played his handheld ga console for a mont before nodding.
Ji Minghuan looked away from his face, raising his eyebrows curiously as he pondered,
'Oho... A fragnt from Greek mythology? Could it be sothing like Poseidon the God of the Sea, Hades, King of the Underworld, or Athena the Goddess of Wisdom?'
In truth, he knew very little about Greek mythology. He had only learned these majestic-sounding nas while watching Saint Seiya with Kong Youling in the computer room.
With a "Clack," the pitch-black disc player swallowed the disc, and a movie began to play on the television.
Ji Minghuan glanced up at the screen, scratching his hair as a sudden realization hit him. 'Wait a minute, please don't tell
that last kid's Mythic-tier fragnt is Zeus... If that's the case, then this Salvation Society dungeon is going to be on literal Hell difficulty for .'
"What are you thinking about?" Kong Youling tugged on his sleeve and held up her notebook to ask.
"Nothing. We're going to London tomorrow, are you happy?" He turned back and offered her a small smile.
"Happy! It's my first ti traveling!"
"Uh-huh. After our trip to London, we'll escape on a penguin spaceship. These idiots from the Salvation Society definitely won't be able to catch us."
"Really?"
"Really."
Sun Changkong suddenly tore her gaze away from the television, glancing at the two of them before hugging her knees and silently returning to the show. The screen reflected in her fiery red pupils, making them glow softly.
Not long after, when the film was only halfway through, the Tutor's voice rang out from above their heads. "It's ti to rest, children. We have to go to London tomorrow, so conserve your energy."
As soon as he finished speaking, the heavy tal doors rumbled open, revealing the figures of white-robed experinters lined up side by side beneath the corridor's curtain of light.
Sun Changkong was the first to rise. Without a word of greeting, she walked out of the Confinent Room without saying a word.
Mario stood up next. With his head bowed toward his handheld ga console, he walked out into the corridor expressionlessly.
Ji Minghuan glanced at Sun Changkong's retreating back, then grabbed the remote control to pause the film. Turning to Kong Youling and Filio, he said, "You two better hurry up and go to sleep too, otherwise the Tutor is going to scold you again."
Filio nodded. "Goodbye, Ji Minghuan. I will definitely protect you all tomorrow."
"Hearing that puts
at ease, you big dog."
Saying that, he turned to look at Kong Youling. "Tomorrow... I'll see you in London."
A mont later, all the children had left the Confinent Room. The heavy doors shut tight, and the lights blinked out.
In the darkness, Ji Minghuan sat motionless in his chair, spacing out for a bit before finally lying down on the bed.
Right at that mont, his pupils contracted slightly. He suddenly felt a subtle, stinging prick on his neck, as if a tiny needle had just extended from the inside of his collar.
Imdiately after, his consciousness grew increasingly sluggish. His mind felt as if it had been shrouded in a thick fog, unable to formulate a single clear thought, and he teetered on the brink of slumber. 'A sedative, huh...'
Realizing this, and seizing the last monts before he completely lost consciousness, Ji Minghuan pushed himself to the limit to partition his mind, scattering and synchronizing his focus into the perspectives of the various ga avatars in his mind.
At this very mont, it was already the dead of night back in Lijing, China. anwhile, the airplane carrying Xia Pingzhou and Ayase Origami had just arrived at the London International Airport.
The ti difference between London and Lijing was seven hours, aning the sun was just beginning to set over here.
The aircraft descended slowly amid a deep rumbling roar. Looking down from above, one could see the River Thas sparkling under the sunset and birds skimming past the Millennium Bridge, which linked St. Paul's Cathedral and the Tate Modern at either end.
A light, pattering drizzle fell from the sky, shrouding the hazy, Gothic spires of the city in a delicate curtain of rain.
Ayase Origami gently reached out and woke Xia Pingzhou, who had been resting his head against her shoulder. He slowly pried open his heavy eyelids and peered up, catching sight of the sunset's lingering crimson hue reflecting off the young girl's pale, unadorned cheeks.
Staring blankly at her profile for a mont, Xia Pingzhou mused, 'So ruthless... The Tutor must have injected my true self with a fast-acting sedative, and not a normal one either... I almost fell into a dead sleep completely.'
"Are we here?" he asked.
"We're here," she replied.
"That was fast..." Xia Pingzhou yawned, lifting his head from Ayase Origami's shoulder.
"London and Venice are close to each other. It's only a two-hour flight." Jack the Ripper, arms crossed, turned to ask the two of them, "What are you planning to do next?"
"Find a hotel and sleep." "Sleep."
Xia Pingzhou and Ayase Origami spoke in perfect unison. The forr swayed unsteadily, seeming as though he still hadn't fully woken up, and promptly rested his head back on the kimono-clad girl's shoulder, shutting his eyes once more.
Jack the Ripper brushed past his seat, remarking coldly, "I don't mind slicing you into pieces, stuffing you into a bag, and carrying you to the hotel."
Xia Pingzhou said nothing, and Ayase Origami rely lowered her head to read her Haiku Collection. She clearly had no intention of waking him up either, considering there were still two or three minutes before the cabin doors closed anyway.
Ji Minghuan synchronized his consciousness with Host Body One.
Now that Xia Pingzhou had safely arrived in London, it was ti to focus on Black Cocoon's side of things.
At the exact sa ti, within a residential building in the Guyimai Block of Lijing, China.
Inside a dimly lit room, Gu Wenyu sat up in bed. He raised his right arm, extending a restraining band to brace against the wall, and glanced at the clock illuminated by the moonlight: "01:30."
He scratched his ssy chicken's nest hair, fished out the mobile phone stashed under his pillow, and peered at it with half-closed eyes.
[Ke Qirui: 2:30 AM, at the abandoned train station near the Guyimai Block. I'll be waiting for you here.]
[Black Cocoon: Understood, Miss Ke.]
[Ke Qirui: Hurry up. We need to reach London tonight to do so advance planning. Red Traffic Light should already be on his way to London too.]
[Black Cocoon: I have always been a punctual person. Please rest assured.]
[Ke Qirui: Speaking of which, surely the all-knowing Mr. Black Cocoon won't get lost, right? Do you need
to send you a location pin?]
[Black Cocoon: That won't be necessary. Miss Ko Zinan will lead the way for .]
[Ke Qirui: You really have terrible taste. Do you enjoy stalking little girls that much?]
[Black Cocoon: Incorrect. I am rely protecting her personal safety. Letting a little girl walk alone at night is not behavior befitting a gentleman.]
[Ke Qirui: If she knew a Big Fluttering Moth was following right behind her, she would be even more terrified, okay?]
[Black Cocoon: Unlikely. I just gave her a gift a few days ago. She should love
to the marrow of her bones right now.]
[Ke Qirui: Enough talking for now. See you at the train station.]
Gu Wenyu set down his phone and stretched out a restraining band to press against the wall. Using his restraining band senses, he let his perception seep through the barrier, allowing him to take a peek into his Little Sister's room.
Under the moonlight, a white nightgown lay discarded on the floor. At that mont, Su Zimai was changing into a sharp black suit. She slipped on a human-faced mask and tied her hair into a high ponytail. Instantly, her entire aura seed much sharper and more heroic.
Su Zimai stared straight at her reflection in the mirror with resolute eyes, looking as if she had just made a monuntal decision.
'The sa outfit from the auction, combined with that resolute gaze... Oh no, the diaper demon is about to strike again...'
Gu Wenyu rubbed his dark circles, thinking to himself with exasperation. Then, with a muffled groan, he slowly hauled himself out of bed.
Another restraining band slid out from his sleeve, dragging out a cardboard box from under the wardrobe. From inside, he pulled out his black swallowtail trench coat and dark red mask.
After changing into his Black Cocoon uniform, he proceeded to wrap his entire body in restraining bands, entering a camouflaged, transparent state. Imdiately after, he threw open the window, leapt out under the moonlight, and dissolved into the darkness.
