"Li Qingping, wait for
down there!" Xize'er shouted, leaning over the railing of the rooftop.
Perhaps because he yelled too loudly, he clutched his stomach and coughed. As he raised his right hand, a book engraved with intricate stripes suddenly appeared in his palm.
The shark was taken aback. "You are an Anecdote Envoy?"
"I have always been an Anecdote Envoy. My two older brothers are as well." Saying this, Xize'er pulled a Card from the Anecdote Catalog, the corners of his mouth lifting into a smile. "Found it."
The shark looked closely and saw an Orange Light Pattern glowing on the back of the card.
"A card with an Orange Light Pattern?" Ji Minghuan froze for a second. "A Generation-tier Anecdote?"
Before the shark could react, Xize'er crushed the card. His white hair whipped wildly in the wind, and his cyan eyes blood with an unnatural light.
The very next mont, the crisp calls of reindeer echoed through the air, sounding like a distant, lodic chant.
Looking toward the source of the sound, one could see two reindeer wearing Christmas Hats flying in from the far end of the sky. Around their necks were tied Bell Ropes, which trailed back to pull a bright red sleigh.
The reindeer tread upon the wind and snow, their hooves rising and falling in rhythm as howling blizzards swept past. They dragged the sleigh through schools of swimming fish, past the spires of the Floating Castle, and finally ca to a halt right in front of the rooftop.
Cradling the Crystal Ball in his arms, Xize'er climbed aboard the Christmas Sleigh. As the sleigh began its descent toward the courtyard of the Floating Castle, he reached a hand out to Li Qingping in midair.
"Li Qingping, let's head up there to talk!"
Li Qingping blinked in surprise before chuckling and shrugging. He firmly grasped the Third Prince's hand and vaulted smoothly into the sleigh.
He sat down beside Xize'er. Engulfed in a flurry of roaring wind and snow, the reindeer pulled the sleigh, soaring toward the top of the Whalegarden like a long serpent forged of heavy snow.
Schools of luminescent fish darted past them, stirring up a sea breeze thick with damp mist, illuminating the sky of the miniature realm as if it were bathed in lantern light.
Looking up, they could see dolphins breaching the ocean surface through the nearly transparent whale skin overhead. If they glanced down at the waters of the Whalegarden, the scattered islands below gradually shrank into tiny specks of light.
It didn't seem to be Li Qingping's first ti riding Xize'er's Christmas Sleigh. Compared to the boy's delighted expression, his face remained completely placid, looking much like an adult patiently humoring a child.
A mont later, Li Qingping turned his head, casting an evaluating glance at the shark inside the Crystal Ball.
"A Nobel Shark. Your Highness, is this a Gift from the King?"
"Mhm, it's a birthday present from Father King." Xize'er nodded. "Also, haven't I told you? When it's just the two of us, you can just call
Xize'er."
"Your Highness Xize'er."
"I really can't with you, Li Qingping."
Xize'er smiled, his pale white hair whipping wildly in the wind.
Just then, a voice speaking perfect Beijing-accented Chinese Language floated faintly out of the Crystal Ball, shattering the brief silence between them. "Li Qingping is a Big Idiot."
Xize'er tensed up completely.
Li Qingping blinked, montarily stunned. He wondered if the howling blizzard stirred up by the reindeer was too loud, or if today's exhausting events had finally driven him to hallucinate.
'Did the Nobel Shark just speak? And spit Lijing-style profanity, no less?'
Thinking this, he lowered his gaze to the Nobel Shark inside the Crystal Ball.
The Nobel Shark completely ignored him, blankly staring at the fish dancing across the sky.
'How strange,' Li Qingping thought, his expression deadpan.
He had just raised his head, intending to strike up a conversation with the Third Prince, when that sa faint voice drifted out of the Crystal Ball once more.
"Li Qingping is a Big Idiot."
Li Qingping imdiately snapped his head down, staring fixedly at the Crystal Ball.
The palm-sized Nobel Shark had its head tilted to the side, revealing only a plump, bulging gill. Its big, watery eyes stared intently at the Third Prince, looking the very picture of innocence.
"What is going on..." Li Qingping furrowed his brows, the Updo Braid on top of his head swaying in the wind.
"Shh!" Xize'er hurriedly turned to the side, shielding the Crystal Ball. He lowered his head, making a hushing gesture at the shark, and whispered, "Yagubalu, what language are you babbling in?"
"It is a language used by Easterners; we call it Chinese Language," the shark replied. "In Chinese, 'Li Qingping is a Big Idiot' ans Li Qingping is super aweso."
"Oh, so that's what it ans. 'Li Qingping is a Big Idiot.' I'll rember that. Once I learn the language, I'll definitely use Chinese to praise Li Qingping like this too."
Xize'er paused, then murmured softly, "Yagubalu, just as I thought, seeing Li Qingping in person made you like him too."
Watching Xize'er's suspicious, huddled posture, Li Qingping finally couldn't hold back his question.
"Your Highness, are you actually talking to that Nobel Shark?"
"No." Xize'er shook his head, flustered. "Li Qingping, you misheard."
"Really?"
Xize'er turned around, wearing a ek, sheepish smile. "You really misheard."
"If Your Highness doesn't mind, could I borrow this shark for the night?"
"No way! This is a birthday Gift from Father King!" Xize'er hugged the Crystal Ball tighter against his chest.
"Alright then..."
Gazing at the Third Prince's innocent smile, Li Qingping shrugged. He grumbled internally that today was truly a bizarre day—first encountering a twenty-ter-tall Demon crashing the Auction, and now eting a talking Nobel Shark.
But to be fair... even if a species like the Nobel Shark underwent so genetic mutation to beco as talkative as a parrot, it shouldn't pose any real threat, right?
The real question was... why the hell was this Nobel Shark spitting out perfectly eloquent Chinese Language?
The Christmas Sleigh soared through the sky in silence, neither of them speaking a word.
Xize'er closed his eyes and raised his arms high, relishing the moisture and wind brushing past his cheeks as his white hair tossed violently.
"Only when you co to visit
do I dare let the Christmas Sleigh take us for a spin up here," he confessed. "Otherwise, Father King and the Queen Mother would definitely scold
to death."
Li Qingping remained silent.
Lowering his gaze, he swept his eyes over several other Floating Cities. In the courtyard of one such castle, the First Prince and the Second Prince were enjoying afternoon tea on the lawn. Their heads were tilted upward, quietly watching the sleigh dance across the sky.
A faint smile played on the First Prince's face. He narrowed his eyes and waved casually in their direction.
The Second Prince, however, was expressionless. His deanor was frigid, and he quickly withdrew his gaze.
"Your Highness Xize'er, let's head back," Li Qingping suddenly suggested.
"We're heading back already? Alright."
Amidst the howling blizzard, the two reindeer dragged the sleigh down toward the castle, eventually coming to a halt at the edge of the rooftop.
Li Qingping stepped out of the sleigh first, landing lightly on the roof before extending a hand to help the Third Prince down.
"Where have you been all this ti, Li Qingping?" Xize'er asked impatiently.
"I've been attending a normal school in the human world," Li Qingping answered. "During the holidays, I go around looking for Anecdote Fragnts to improve myself."
"So that's how it is," Xize'er murmured. "Everyone says you grew tired of the world of Anecdote Envoys and didn't want to co back."
"That might partly be true."
"That sounds wonderful," Xize'er sighed wistfully. "I want to be like you—free to go wherever I want."
"You definitely will be able to in the future." Li Qingping raised a hand, hesitating over whether to pat the boy's head.
Just as he was about to pull his hand back, Xize'er suddenly leaned his head forward.
He nuzzled affectionately against Li Qingping's palm like a small animal, gazing up at him with a bright smile. Li Qingping blinked in surprise, then smiled softly and ruffled his hair. Xize'er's white locks felt incredibly soft, swaying gently against his skin.
If not for Li Qingping's transcendent hearing, which constantly picked up a certain shark in the Crystal Ball muttering "Li Qingping is a Big Idiot" on loop like a broken record, he would have been in an absolutely stellar mood right now.
Soon, the two humans and one shark arrived at the bedroom, settling down on the soft mattress.
"Tell
about what happened in the outside world." Xize'er prodded. "Was that Tokyo Auction you took Second Brother to fun?"
"It was quite entertaining. There were a lot of very interesting people." Li Qingping nodded.
He hesitated for a second before adding, "There was a magician at the Auction who loved playing with Playing Cards. He slipped a card into everyone's pockets, perford a little Arcane Magic trick... and then, 'Boom', everyone vanished."
"Wow, what incredible Arcane Magic!" Xize'er clapped his hands in awe.
The shark nodded in agreent from inside the Crystal Ball, thinking to itself, 'Yeah, yeah, incredible Arcane Magic indeed. All it took was blowing over a hundred people into mist!'
Xize'er pondered for a mont before tilting his head in confusion. "But didn't you say an Auction is a place to sell things? Why would soone be performing Arcane Magic there?"
"Improvised entertainnt."
"Li Qingping, are you brushing
off again?"
"Not at all."
"Then what else was fun at the Auction?"
Li Qingping scratched his cheek. "Uh... a pig snuck in among the Guests at the Auction. His na was 'Zhou Jiuya'. He was incredibly good at sleeping; didn't wake up until the whole Auction was over."
"Hahahaha, what an interesting pig! Could it be a Magical Creature?"
"I felt the sa way. He must definitely be a Magical Creature."
"Mhm... I really want to attend an Auction," Xize'er murmured, his head drooping with a wistful sigh.
"You will have your chance."
After that, Li Qingping told Xize'er about the newly released Video Gas in the human world, then ranted about the grueling academic workload of a high school student, and finally ntioned a new friend he had made outside nad "Gu Wenyu."
He also admitted that he had co clean to Gu Wenyu about being an Anecdote Envoy, though he had only told him half the truth.
"Honestly, I've known him for a long ti," Li Qingping chuckled.
"Then why haven't you ever ntioned him to
before?" Xize'er turned to look at him.
"I just felt it wasn't the right ti to bring it up."
"I know what it is. You were definitely worried about dragging him into dangerous matters." Xize'er grinned.
"Maybe..." Li Qingping shook his head. "It's getting quite late today. I should take my leave first, Your Highness Xize'er."
Xize'er fell silent for a mont before lifting his cyan eyes to stare at him. "Are you going back tomorrow?"
"No, I'll be staying in the Whalegarden for the foreseeable future."
"Really?" Xize'er's eyes lit up.
"Really." Li Qingping paused, dropping his voice lower. "I have so business to take care of. Only after handling these matters can I leave this place."
"That's great! I was worried you were going to leave tomorrow."
"Oh, by the way, Your Highness Xize'er." Li Qingping hesitated slightly. "Have things been alright between you and the other two Princes lately?"
Xize'er nodded. "It's been fine. My brothers co to visit
occasionally and bring
food."
"That's good."
Li Qingping departed. The palm-sized Phoenix expanded into a Giant Bird, carrying him away from the Floating City.
Xize'er stared blankly at his retreating back before slowly slumping backward, collapsing onto the bed.
"Why didn't you tell
you actually possessed a Generation-tier Anecdote?" the shark in the Crystal Ball spoke up.
Xize'er explained, "When I was 9, my brothers and Father King took
to the Royal Court Hall. Right then, I suddenly resonated with an Anecdote Fragnt left behind by a Hero—the 'Christmas Sleigh'. It was only natural that I bonded with the fragnt after that."
'Isn't that even earlier than Li Qingping? Li Qingping is a once-in-a-millennium genius, so what kind of monster are you?' Ji Minghuan's heart gave a slight jolt.
It was only then that he finally understood why the First Prince and Second Prince targeted the Third Prince so fiercely. It was because the Third Prince possessed an unprecedented, unparalleled talent in the world of Anecdote Envoys...
How could the King not favor such a monster of a Prince?
"And then what?" the shark pressed. "Did you not resonate with any other Anecdote Fragnts in the Royal Court Hall?"
"It's not that simple... But it's also possible my Anecdote Envoy rank isn't high enough," Xize'er said. "I am a D-rank Anomaly Wielder, the absolute lowest rank among Anecdote Envoys. I can bind at most one Generation-tier Anecdote Fragnt, so the other Generation-tier fragnts simply stopped resonating with ."
He shook his head. "Though saying that sounds way too arrogant... Honestly, for a normal person to bind even one Generation-tier Anecdote, it's already considered phenonally good luck. It's not like everyone can be a genius like Li Qingping."
"You're a genius too."
"I just got lucky."
"You haven't even gone through Cultivation, so how do you know you aren't a genius?" the shark demanded. "If you elevate your Anecdote Envoy rank, wouldn't you be able to bind more Generation-tier fragnts?"
"My health is poor," Xize'er replied quietly. "Father King says I'm incredibly gifted, and wants to wait until I'm older before letting
undergo Cultivation... He also told
that I will beco the greatest Anecdote Envoy in the future, as well as the greatest Monarch of the Royal Court of the Whale. But I have zero interest in Power or Status. I think my two older brothers are much better suited to be King."
He paused. "I just want to be like Li Qingping, to go out and see how vast the outside world really is."
"Assuming you can stay alive to do so."
"Stay alive?" Xize'er blanked, lowering his head to look at the shark inside the Crystal Ball.
"Exactly... stay alive," the shark emphasized once more.
Xize'er was baffled. "I'm perfectly safe here. Everyone treats
wonderfully. Yagubalu, why would you say sothing like that?"
"You will find out soon enough," the shark muttered cryptically.
"You're being so weird."
Through the glass of the Crystal Ball, the shark's eyes gazed out at the sky above the rooftop, its Thoughts Running Wild.
'If this were the belly of a normal whale, instantly maximizing the shark's size would very likely burst the whale's stomach from the inside out... But the Legendary Whale is two hundred ters long, and its interior is a bizarre, kaleidoscopic continent.'
'Even if I maximized the shark's size, it would still seem utterly insignificant within this vast continent, let alone cause any physical impact on the whale's actual body. Therefore, the only way to devour the Legendary Whale is to do it from the real world.'
'But that's also a good thing. It ans that if a massive conflict breaks out with the people of the Whalegarden later on, I can super-size Yagubalu's body to directly fight back against the enemy.'
'Especially the Royal Court Squad that Li Qingping is part of. If the Royal Court Squad sides with the First Prince and Second Prince instead of the Third Prince, then sooner or later, I'm destined to clash with them... But with just Li Qingping and , can we really defeat six other Anecdote Envoys, each ard with a Generation-tier fragnt?'
Right at that mont, a specific na violently surfaced in Ji Minghuan's mind:
—'White Raven Brigade.'
'Of course...' The shark's eyes widened. 'If I swallow the Legendary Whale whole, wouldn't all those priceless Treasures in the Royal Treasury be completely wasted?'
'But looking at it from another angle, I can use the Treasures in the vault as an extra bargaining chip!'
'The Leader will definitely be interested in these Treasures. I can use them to strike a deal with him, choosing to Invite a Wolf into the House—letting him lead the mbers of the White Raven Brigade into the Whalegarden, joining Li Qingping and ... to completely flip this world upside down.'
