Chapter 689: Chapter 617: It Feels Great to Win by Doing Nothing

Yuan Hu’s face was anxious as he had been racing from Anhu ever since he received the ssage.

Anhu and Luo City weren’t far apart, a ride on the latest model of transport helicopter didn’t take much ti. However, he was still extrely anxious.

The stable Black Seam, countless giant beetles, every piece of information gathered was far from optimistic.

Thanks to the low concentration of Source Qi on Sky Blue Star, communication was convenient. On the helicopter, Yuan Hu still gathered quite a bit of information about the situation at West Suburb Park.

Five minutes ago,

The Awakener at the main entrance of West Suburb Park could no longer hold out. Many people, including the local police departnt, were prepared to make sacrifices.

The situation had reached its most critical mont!

Yuan Hu wished he could fly—though flying wouldn’t actually be faster than the transport helicopter.

The mont he alighted from the helicopter, he transford into an afterimage rushing forward. Within ten seconds or so, he had surpassed the outer crowd and arrived at the blockade set up by the Luo City Police Departnt.

“How is the situation? What about casualties? Did any Alien Insects breach the blockade?”

“Uh…” The queried officer scratched his head, unsure of how to respond.

Yuan Hu beca anxious, “What exactly happened, just tell !”

“This… that, you might as well see for yourself.”

Yuan Hu followed the directed gaze. A few police cars were parked in front of the main entrance of West Suburb Park. Further ahead was a chaotic battlefield with many blood-stained Awakeners sitting on the ground. So were soaked, the ground cluttered with blood and water stains.

Further away, a section of the stone bridge had broken off completely. Several giant beetle corpses lay on the bridge, dead in various ways. The most ghastly had their bodies crushed open, their bodily fluids splattered everywhere.

However, there were no signs of living giant beetles or human corpses.

Wait!

Yuan Hu realized sothing was wrong!

Wasn’t the situation critical? Weren’t they all prepared for sacrifice?

Hadn’t there been reports of dozens of giant beetles and even more terrifying Alien Insects like giant mantises and Red Beetles?

Why… weren’t any visible?

Could it be that the ergency was in another direction?

He leaped up to the front of the stone bridge and squatted in front of an injured Awakener.

It was Wang Lie, with a police officer bandaging him at his side.

Yuan Hu asked, “Did you repel the Alien Insects? How about the other directions? Which area is more critical?”

Wang Lie propped himself up to sit, “You ca too late.”

“!!!”

Yuan Hu’s shock was evident as he listened to Wang Lie continue, “The Alien Insects have been dealt with. Cough, cough… It was the Immortal Gate disciples, so strong.”

Immortal Gate!

An image imdiately flashed in Yuan Hu’s mind, the enormous stone sphere hanging in mid-air like a full moon the night before.

“Was it the Immortal Gate Master?”

Though it was a question, he was fairly certain that except for the Immortal Gate Master, no one else could have easily resolved so many Alien Insects.

Yet Wang Lie shook his head.

“Could it be… Many Awakeners from Immortal Gate arrived? Or was it the Four Directions Elders who took action?”

Wang Lie shook his head again, “There weren’t many from Immortal Gate. On my side, I only saw five Immortal Gate disciples. The other directions should be similar. As for their identity…”

He slightly lifted his head as if envisioning the figure standing against the sword, ethereal and aloof.

“They claid… they were rely ordinary Immortal Gate disciples.”

Yuan Hu: “…”

Wang Lie and others were all severely injured and naturally all stayed in the safe outer periter, waiting. Those with more serious injuries had already been taken away by ambulances.

Unlike Yuan Hu’s reinforcent team, they had just arrived, all in their peak condition.

They split into two groups; one part went to inspect the conditions around the outskirts of West Suburb Park while a few elite Awakeners, led by Yuan Hu, ventured deeper into the park, heading towards where the Black Seam had appeared.

The park was a ss, with collapsed buildings, shattered stone benches, uprooted trees… and countless giant insect bodies covering the ground.

“No wonder there were no more giant insects outside the park; they had all died inside, but their number… was too many.”

Yuan Hu was shocked by what he saw.

In just one area of the park, there were dozens of giant beetle corpses, which suggested that there was definitely a nest on the other side of the Black Seam, teeming with countless giant insects. If all these insects were to erge, even with their reinforcents, it probably wouldn’t be enough.

“This ti, we really owe a lot to the Immortal Gate.”

As they delved deeper, they only encountered one or two living giant beetles before they quickly reached the stable Black Seam, where they t the three people from the Luo City Branch.

“Where are the people from the Immortal Gate?”

The Luo City Director took a long puff of his cigarette and pouted, “They’ve all gone into the Black Seam.”

“Aren’t you going in to help? The Immortal Gate is our ally supporting us, we can’t just let our allies fight in the front while we sit back and watch!”

Yuan Hu was sowhat annoyed.

The Luo City Director indifferently waved his hand, “Help? No need, just shouting ‘666 lay to win’ is enough.”

Yuan Hu: “(⊙…⊙)”

Am I hallucinating?

The Luo City Director was a powerhouse almost as strong as him. When did he beco so lackadaisical?!

“Forget it.” The Luo City Director calmly took steps forward, “It’s good to take a look. I am also curious about the situation on the other side of the Black Seam.”

They walked across the cobblestoned road and into the lush greenery.

The greenery wasn’t very large, but as soon as they stepped in, the environnt around them changed drastically. They couldn’t see the park buildings anymore. Instead, they saw a huge valley surrounded by rock walls with caves of various sizes.

At that mont,

Countless alien insects erged from the caves.

Giant beetles, red beetles, black beetles, giant mantises, red mantises… and many other indistinguishable alien insects, like a colorful tide.

Yuan Hu gasped.

There must be at least tens of thousands of alien insects!

If so many insects were to break out, it would be a catastrophe for Luo City, and even the whole Anxia Country would suffer great losses!

“Using the range of the Black Seam to block the alien insects is our only chance! Even if it ans death, we must hold on until additional reinforcents arrive!”

The Awakeners following Yuan Hu had a tragic look.

However,

The Luo City Director, still smoking, was completely indifferent, “Relax, relax, the Immortal Gate experts are here, what sacrifice is needed?”

Only then did Yuan Hu rember the reinforcents from the Immortal Gate, but he still felt very pessimistic.

He saw, not far ahead, a dozen Immortal Gate disciples forming a battle array, simply observing…

The sky?

Above in the azure sky, two figures glided through the air.

One was small, resembling a girl around eleven or twelve years old. The other, with white and gray hair, was an elderly man.

Two of the Four Directions Elders of the Immortal Gate!

Are they both Wind Series ability users?

Just as this thought crossed his mind, the sky suddenly darkened, and huge teorites burning with dark red flas fell from above, like an apocalypse.

Many of the insects with terrifying presences, having wings, flew up. In an instant, a colorful mist engulfed the area, throwing the swarm into chaos. The flying insects tumbled and fell, while those on the ground beca even more ferocious, fighting amongst themselves.

Boom!!!

The dark red teorites crashed down, and the terrifying shockwave created a hurricane that rushed towards them.

Yuan Hu instinctively thrust his weapon into the ground, sinking it deeply, and grabbed the handle as he threw himself to the ground.

The hurricane swept past, and he fluttered in the air like a kite.

“So… the Immortal Gate disciples ford a battle array just to get a better view of the battle.”

After a long while,

Nurous deep pits with white smoke and still-burning flas dotted the huge valley.

And the alien insects were either dead or injured.

With just this one strike, more than half of the alien insects were wiped out!

Yuan Hu, who had awkwardly stood up, stared blankly at the scene before him.

Smoking, lighting up… had already lost its taste.
