Tightening his belt and hiding the extra fat, Chief Thomas cursed as he walked out of the office.
Outside, the Police Investigations Departnt team led by Burns was already surrounded by his subordinates.
“You son of a bitch, Burns. Why aren’t you licking Lake’s sore on his butt today?”
The bravado of a gang middleman was indeed remarkable. Even with death looming, Thomas dared to point at Burns’s nose and curse.
“You are suspected of being involved in an international drug trafficking case. Sheriff Lake and the prosecutor have already signed the action order.
Thomas, we are old acquaintances, can’t you show a little decency?”
Burns suppressed his anger, speaking sinisterly.
“And, officers of the precinct, you are governnt employees, not Thomas’s employees. Don’t sacrifice your future for a criminal!”
With this statent, the encirclent of Burns’s team by the precinct officers quickly loosened.
