Watching them exchange pleasantries, one delivering a serious yet kindly reprimand, the other pretending to listen respectfully, Mu Lezhu stood by and found the scene particularly bizarre, yet sowhat harmonious.
After all, Lu Jingang wasn’t respectful to just anyone; he usually acted bullish towards others. The only people he’d show such respect to were Chairman Lu and Mrs. Lu, hardly anyone else.
The elderly gentleman then inquired about so work matters. Even though he was getting older and a bit forgetful, as long as Lu Jingang articulated the key points, the old man understood clearly, and he specifically advised him to watch out for the two old foxes in the company, known for their transparent ambitions.
Lu Jingang was also aware that the Mu Group was currently dealing with internal and external troubles, and he had his own plans.
Although Mu Lezhu was unaware of his plans, every ti she saw his calm and confident deanor, she felt less anxious about the matter and had so degree of confidence.
Watching them chat, Mu Lezhu didn’t say anything throughout, silently listening. She knew she wasn’t as capable as Lu Jingang concerning work, and so things they discussed, she didn’t quite understand.
After chatting for a while, the old man felt fatigued and asked Lu Jingang to push him inside to rest. Mu Lezhu followed them in, listening to a few more instructions from the old man, then left the room with Lu Jingang as several caretakers went in to attend to him.
"What ti is your appointnt?" Lu Jingang suddenly asked casually as Mu Lezhu felt quite satisfied watching the caretakers skillfully attend to the old man. His tone was mild and less chilly than before, carrying a hint of warmth.
Mu Lezhu turned in surprise to look at him, montarily not understanding his question: "What?"
"What ti is your appointnt with Qi Mingyao?" Lu Jingang repeated while raising an eyebrow.
It’s rare for him to repeat his words a second ti.
Mu Lezhu snapped back to reality, raised her wrist to check the ti: "The appointnt is at 5:30, and it’s only 4:47 now."
"Where’s the eting place?"
"At a western restaurant over on Puxi New Road."
"It takes about half an hour to get there from here." Lu Jingang squinted his eyes, helping her calculate the ti.
"Hmm, roughly!" Mu Lezhu nodded, then realized: "Why are you calculating so precisely? What’s it got to do with you?"
"Going with you."
"What? You’re coming too?" Mu Lezhu widened her eyes in surprise, apprehensively looking at him: "Why are you coming?"
"To get acquainted with Mr. Qi."
"..."
Mu Lezhu was speechless, her mouth twitching slightly: "You haven’t had any interactions with him, why bother getting acquainted?"
"Because I want to."
"..."
Mu Lezhu was at a loss for words again, pursing her lips and muttering internally, "Fine, you’re arrogant, you’re cool, you’re capricious."
"Should I go ahead and say hi, and leave now?"
"Go."
Mu Lezhu looked at his self-assured deanor, feeling utterly baffled, unsure if he was acting erratically or possessed by a spirit today, wanting to join her in eting soone.
After bidding farewell to the old man, the two took the elevator out of the nursing ho’s entrance and got into the car, with Lu Jingang imdiately instructing the driver on their destination. Just then, his phone started ringing pleasantly.
