Near six o’clock, Lu Xize sent her a WeChat ssage saying he had already arrived downstairs at her company. Upon seeing it, Yun Xi replied with a cheerful ’Got it’ emoji.

At this point, there were still about twenty minutes left until the end of work. Yun Xi sorted out her tasks and was ready to sneak away.

Just as she picked up her bag and coat and walked to the door, before she could push it open, the door opened by itself. Yun Xi’s hand hung in the air, not even touching the doorknob.

As she was montarily stunned, a handso and elegant face appeared in her clear and lively eyes. Yun Qi looked at what she was holding, raised his eyebrows: "Getting ready to leave work?"

At his words, Yun Xi imdiately snapped back to reality, nodded, and confidently looked at him without a hint of guilt or embarrassnt: "Yes! Why?"

Anyway, arriving late and leaving early had beco a routine for her, and she was used to doing things based on her mood.

"You’re not here personally to make work overti tonight, are you?" Yun Xi glanced at his changing expression, sensing sothing was off, then curled her lips and suspiciously asked.

"Most of the work is done, why work overti?" Yun Qi smiled gently and asked in a calm voice.

"Then why did you co over? If you had sothing to say, you could’ve just sent a WeChat ssage or called!"

"I want to invite you to dinner tonight."

"Huh?" Yun Xi was stunned again and again, bewildered, looking at him: "Why, all of a sudden, do you want to invite to dinner? I... why does it sound so guilty and weird! Feels like... a trap!"

Yun Qi chuckled: "You were clamoring for to treat you to dinner; now I offer to invite you, and you find it strange?"

"That’s different! When I asked you to treat to dinner, that’s normal. But when you’re a busy person and say you want to treat , how can I not feel alard and startled?" Yun Xi crossed her arms and looked at him disdainfully: "There’s a saying, ’When sothing unusual happens, there’s usually sothing fishy.’"

"Ling Ran is also coming."

Upon hearing this, Yun Xi’s pupils enlarged, and then she slyly smiled: "Oh! So Ling Ran is coming too! I knew it; why would you suddenly ask to dinner? It’s probably Ling Ran’s idea! Speaking of, did you take Ling Ran to see Aunt a few days ago? I didn’t get a chance to ask you; how did it go? What did Aunt say? Is she satisfied with her future daughter-in-law?"

"When has my judgnt been poor?" Yun Qi replied without arrogance, neither cold nor bland, always showing a gentle smile, looking exceptionally calm as if narrating a usual matter.

Yun Xi couldn’t help but roll her eyes at his overly calm tone: "Bro, I realize you’re really getting less humble, which isn’t good."

"Really?"

"Yes."

Yun Qi raised his eyebrows and laughed: "I booked a table at Aiksa Restaurant for six-thirty tonight. It’s about ti to go now, so you head over first. I’ll go get Ling Ran."

Seeing Yun Qi about to turn and leave, Yun Xi hesitated for a mont but still reached out and grabbed his clothes: "Uh... bro, wait a minute. I have an appointnt tonight, maybe... no ti, just you and Ling Ran go, why... why bring , the third wheel? With my twenty-thousand-watt brightness, aren’t you afraid it’ll blind your eyes? We can eat at Aunt’s place anyti, but you’re so busy all the ti, with so little ti to spend with Ling Ran. You’ve managed to have so ti to dine and date her, and you still want to bring along. If Ling Ran knew, wouldn’t she be furious? Though she’s mild-mannered and gentle, that’s no excuse to ignore her feelings. Precisely because she’s sweet-natured, you must cherish and care for her properly."

Yun Qi listened to her elaborate reasoning, though sowhat sensible, he still found it unusual, squinted his eyes, and probed: "Are you... with that Lu Xize?"

Yun Xi’s heart skipped a beat; it seed her secret was hit spot-on.

She hadn’t planned on hiding it from anyone, but neither did she intend to explicitly bring it up. Now, with Yun Qi’s sudden question, a trace of guilt arose.

Every subtle reaction of hers was noted by Yun Qi. He was actually probing, unexpectedly finding this girl easy to figure out, as expected.

As for his impression of Lu Xize, it wasn’t overly positive, though he found him overly playful and usually carefree. Yet upon investigation, he found the person quite reliable, especially being friends with Jiang Baizhou for years, indicating decent character.

Considering Jiang Baizhou’s cold and distant nature, becoming his friend was no easy feat.

Therefore, he wasn’t opposed to it; the main thing was her liking and feeling happy.

"Why say that? Why suddenly ask ?" Yun Xi tried to make her expression serene and composed, grinning and countering.

"Yesterday, I sent Shao Min to the school to check on Ah Sheng’s studies. The school said that you had inford them over a week ago that Ah Sheng moved to live off-campus. Then, I had Chai Jie investigate, and found out that Ah Sheng has been staying at Lu Xize’s house these days."

Yun Xi chuckled dryly and explained, "You know what Lu Xize does for a living—he’s a top-notch psychologist. Ah Sheng’s rebellious and school-averse behavior is largely due to his original family situation, which is beyond even your control! If we were to suggest he see a psychologist, do you think he’d agree? It’s better to hook him in through his own interests to gradually change him, and just over a week has shown significant results already."

"Yes, I’ve heard too. I don’t oppose your approach; in fact, I quite agree with it."

"Right! I think in a little while, this kid will be just fine."

"Hmm, staying at the house of his future brother-in-law is also quite normal."

Yun Xi was taken aback, montarily speechless, wondering why the topic shifted back. She glanced at Yun Qi’s expression and said, "Bro, about this matter! I think...I can explain, what do you think?"

"Hmm, I don’t think it’s necessary." Yun Qi, with a faint hint of a smile in his eyes, glanced at her and responded softly, "I don’t oppose it. As long as you’re happy with it."

Yun Xi stared at him blankly, dazed for a good ten seconds, before she imdiately beca excited and threw herself into his arms, "Ah, brother, you’re the best, I love you, hehe!"

"Since you have a date tonight, nevermind then. I was just asking out of politeness. After all, it’s Ling Ran who wanted you to co. If you’re not free, there’s nothing I can do about it. I’m off." Yun Qi poked her forehead with his finger, pushed her away, and lightly brushed off the lapel of his suit, responding casually.

Upon hearing this, Yun Xi rolled her eyes at him repeatedly and complained bitterly, "Bro, you’ve changed. I’m no longer your favorite sister. You’ve started favoring romance over friendship."

"Hmm? How am I favoring romance over friendship?"

"If Ling Ran hadn’t ntioned wanting to co, would you have asked to go?"

"You’ve already said it yourself, as a 200,000-watt light bulb, I’m afraid of being blinded by the brightness. Why would I bring you? Are you worried the restaurant’s lights aren’t bright enough? Should I bring my own light?"

"..."

Rendered speechless, Yun Xi waved at him, "You go ahead! My mom told not to hang out with those who favor romance over friendship. Our sibling bond ends here, goodbye." With that, she walked past him without turning back.

Yun Qi silently laughed at her retreating figure, raised an amused eyebrow, and took out his phone to ssage Ye Lingran, feeling a little thrilled inside.

Fuming, Yun Xi stord out of Yun Group’s building and saw Lu Xize leaning against his car not far away. One hand was in his pocket, and he was playing with his phone with the other, exuding a careless charm that drew the eyes of nurous passersby, especially the surrounding girls.

He always had that rogue charm, attracting girls, which she understood. But watching those girls look at him with such admiration, she felt sowhat sour inside. After all, he was her boyfriend now!

She could now openly get jealous, except she knew if he found out, he’d definitely tease her rcilessly with his mischievous personality. So she couldn’t give him that chance and had to pretend to be unconcerned and magnanimous.

As she got closer, Lu Xize noticed her, and his smile turned warm, with a more pronounced arc, as he tucked his phone away, pulled his hand out of his pocket, and took two steps forward to greet her.

"You’re down?"

"Yeah." Yun Xi responded sullenly, with her hands clasped behind her back.

"What’s wrong?" Being attentive and observant perhaps due to his profession, Lu Xize quickly noticed from her expression and tone that she seed a bit unhappy.

Yun Xi pouted slightly and shook her head, "Nothing, let’s go."

Seeing her planning to bypass him and get into the car, Lu Xize grabbed her wrist and gently pinched her cheek, "Co on, tell , what’s wrong? Is it sothing at work?"

Yun Xi remained silent, rely shaking her head.

"Then what’s up?"

"I think my brother knows we’re together." Pulled into his embrace, Yun Xi didn’t resist and spoke in a slightly coquettish tone.

Upon hearing this, Lu Xize was montarily stunned, then laughed, "Hmm, if he knows, he knows—it’s nothing shaful. I was even thinking of asking you about introducing you to my parents. What’s the matter? Is he disapproving?"
