"No need." Having quenched his thirst, Yun Qi looked up at her and asked with a smile, "When was the needle removed?"

"About twenty or thirty minutes ago! The nurse took out the needle and brought your dicine over, saying you should take it half an hour after als, three tis a day. It’s on the coffee table in the living room!"

"Hmm, and did you call for sothing?" Yun Qi responded softly, paused for a mont, and then asked.

"Ah, well... Shao Min just called. I saw you were still asleep, so I answered. It seed to be about work. She said you have a dinner with Miss Ding tonight, but when she called to cancel, Miss Ding insisted on coming to the hotel to see you. She’s probably on her way now. I thought I should wake you up to let you know she’s coming to see you." Hearing his question, Ye Lingran suddenly rembered the main issue.

However, after hearing her words, Yun Qi’s gentle expression showed a hint of displeasure. His brows furrowed, and his lips pressed into a straight line.

Ye Lingran noticed his change in expression, thinking she had upset him by answering his call without permission. She unconsciously took a small step back, apologetically saying, "Um... sorry! I answered your call without your consent..."

This detail of her stepping back was also noticed by Yun Xi. Seeing her looking awkward and apologetic, he smiled, "It’s okay, I don’t mind."

Ye Lingran, upon hearing this, looked up at him. Seeing his face still bearing a gentle smile, she decided not to say anything more. Just then, the doorbell rang outside. Ye Lingran glanced towards the sound, then turned back and said, "I’ll go take a look—it might be that Miss Ding Shao Min ntioned."

Yun Qi watched her back, lips pressed, but he did not stop her. He simply raised his hand to touch his neck, quietly leaning back against the bed.

Ye Lingran reached the door and glanced out through the peephole. She saw a woman outside wearing a white cloak-style coat, her slightly curly black hair hanging loose, and her face adorned with exquisite makeup, giving off an air of slight arrogance and professionalism.

Ye Lingran opened the door, and Ding Jami, standing outside, was montarily stunned. She thought she might have pressed the wrong doorbell and checked the room number above the door to be sure. Upon confirming she wasn’t mistaken, her brows furrowed with displeasure. She looked Ye Lingran up and down, especially focusing on her pretty and gentle face, and asked in a displeased tone, "Who are you? Isn’t this Yun Qi’s room?"

"Uh... this is his room." In response to Ding Jami’s question, Ye Lingran suddenly didn’t know how to answer, so she only addressed the latter part of her question.

"Since this is his room, who are you? Why are you here? Where is he? I heard from his secretary that he has a fever." Ding Jami cast a slightly disdainful glance at Ye Lingran, directly pushed past her, questioning as she walked inside and scanned the area, before heading straight into the bedroom.

Upon reaching the bedroom entrance, Ding Jami saw Yun Qi leaning against the bed. His hand resting on the blanket was wrapped in a bandage, and his complexion showed so weariness. She hurried over to sit at the edge of the bed, worriedly grabbing his injured hand and asking, "Yun Qi, are you okay? I heard from Shao Min that you had a fever, so I rushed over. What happened to your hand? Didn’t you just arrive in Jiang City yesterday evening? It hasn’t even been a day, how did it end up like this?"

At this mont, Ye Lingran reached the doorway. Seeing Ding Jami sitting so closely with her hand holding Yun Qi’s, she stopped in her tracks and decided not to enter. Seeing his gaze fall on her, she smiled softly and said, "You two go ahead and talk." With that, she lowered her gaze, preparing to turn and head back to the living room to continue her work.

"Wait a minute." As Yun Qi saw this, he imdiately called out to her. As she turned around, he simultaneously withdrew his hand from Ding Jami’s and gently said to her, "Co here."

Ye Lingran was montarily stunned upon hearing that, her gaze sweeping briefly over Ding Jami before she moved her feet gingerly, hesitated for about two seconds, and then stepped forward to stand about half a ter from the foot of the bed. "Is there sothing you need?"

Yun Qi glanced at Ding Jami, who was too close, and politely said, "Miss Ding, please step back a little. My girlfriend might misunderstand."

Upon hearing the words "girlfriend," Ye Lingran’s heart skipped a beat, her pupils slightly dilating. This... seed like the first ti he openly acknowledged her as his girlfriend in front of others; previously, it was always a tacit understanding, even to outsiders.
