When Wei Xuan heard this, the smile on her face couldn’t hold up anymore. She knew she would never get any good words from Doctor Jiang. Even on New Year’s Eve, he only sent her and Lang Jing a simple ’Happy New Year.’ They replied with an emoji and a ’Happy New Year to you too, Doctor Jiang,’ to which he responded with a simple ’um,’ ending the conversation.
"Yes." Wei Xuan said, lowering her head with a grumpy and sulky tone.
Lang Jing awkwardly chuckled beside her, silently feeling sorry for Wei Xuan for three seconds. Embarrassed to speak up, she stepped aside to let Jiang Baizhou pass.
"Hey, Old Jiang, that’s not quite right, is it? It’s the beginning of the New Year, and on the first day back at work, you’re scolding Wei Xuan. Be careful, she might quit and show you." Lu Xize, leaning casually on the glass railing with a coffee in hand, couldn’t help but voice his protest after seeing the situation.
Upon hearing Lu Xize’s voice, Wei Xuan and Lang Jing felt that their savior had co. They each cast hopeful and pleading glances towards Lu Xize.
Seeing the eager looks in their eyes, Lu Xize couldn’t help but laugh. He took a sip of his coffee, shifted his stance, and continued to speak, bearing their hopes: "Today is the first day back to work after the New Year. Shouldn’t you give out so red envelopes or sothing? They’ve been looking forward to it all morning, only for you to give them a hard ti. You’re not doing a great job as a boss! Learn from ; I ca in this morning and handed out two red envelopes to keep them happy. They’ll definitely work harder now, right?" With that, Lu Xize gave Wei Xuan and Lang Jing a knowing look.
"Yes, yes, Doctor Jiang, from now on whatever tasks you assign, I will ensure they are completed quickly and with high quality." Wei Xuan nodded with a smile, echoing Lu Xize’s words, passionately declaring her commitnt. It wasn’t easy, but she’s doing it for that New Year’s red envelope!
Standing beside her, Lang Jing also nodded with a smile, her face full of anticipation as her gaze shifted from Lu Xize to Jiang Baizhou.
Jiang Baizhou furrowed his brows in thought, seemingly puzzled and confused by what they were saying: "Red envelopes?"
"You didn’t actually prepare any, did you?" Lu Xize, seeing this reaction, incredulously laughed and asked.
Jiang Baizhou pressed his lips together, his cold eyes sweeping over Lu Xize briefly. After contemplating for a mont, he spoke slowly: "Got it, first go revise that docunt. We’ll need it tomorrow."
"Yes." Wei Xuan replied with a smile, knowing that Doctor Jiang always ant what he said. Since he didn’t refuse, there was hope for the red envelope.
After Jiang Baizhou returned to his office with his cup, Wei Xuan followed him in, bringing the docunt she had previously ssed up. When taking the docunt, she nodded slightly at Jiang Baizhou and said, "Doctor Jiang, I’ll submit a revised version before the end of today."
"Mm." Jiang Baizhou responded with a faint monosyllabic sound. Watching her leave, he took out his phone, opened the chat with Wei Xuan, thought for a mont, and sent her a ’666’ start-of-the-year red envelope. He also sent the sa red envelope to Lang Jing.
Wei Xuan and Lang Jing were absolutely delighted to receive the red envelopes from Jiang Baizhou, no longer feeling the previous helplessness and now doing everything with a cheerful spirit.
"You couldn’t figure out that a red envelope could solve this?" Lu Xize appeared at the office doorway, shaking his head and sighing as he mocked Jiang Baizhou, his words full of disappointnt.
"Shouldn’t you consider giving a red envelope too?" Jiang Baizhou put down his phone, looking at him with a hint of amusent, and calmly asked.
"Why?" Lu Xize looked at him puzzled.
"Weren’t you here to give a red envelope?"
"Of course not."
"Then get out."
"Tsk, heartless." Lu Xize glared at him disdainfully, waved his hand, and asked, "Do you have any patients scheduled today?"
"No."
"Neither do I, so I’m planning not to co back this afternoon."
"So?"
"Wanna grab lunch together? It’s on ."
"I’ve got a lunch date with my wife."
"Oh, I see. I’m not worthy. I’m leaving." Without lingering, Lu Xize turned and left the office.
