Lu Xize looked at the two of them and then turned his head to see Yun Qi wiping cake off Ye Lingran’s hair. Suddenly, he started to seriously consider why he was still single. Should he find soone too? At this rate, he might just die of frustration because of them!
"I... I’ll do it myself!" Ye Lingran saw Yun Qi so close to her, helping to wipe her hair, and didn’t dare to lift her head, afraid that he would see her flushed face. Wouldn’t that be too embarrassing?
"There aren’t any mirrors here. Can you see it yourself?" Yun Qi asked softly, with a gentle smile in his eyes.
"After Cen Jin and Yun Xi finish washing, I’ll clean it up."
"So, you’re just going to let the cake sit there? Isn’t that uncomfortable?"
Ye Lingran heard his words and only then slowly looked up to et his eyes. When she looked into his warm gaze, her heart skipped a beat, and her cheeks turned even redder. The scene from that night when she accompanied him to his parents’ house flashed through her mind. She pursed her red lips and silently averted her eyes, pulling a few tissues from the table.
Just as she was about to wipe herself, Yun Qi took the paper from her hand, "Turn your body, I’ll help you."
"No need..."
"You always lose when you play with that crazy girl Yun Xi; she’s used to being wild." Ye Lingran wanted to refuse again, but Yun Qi’s gentle voice ca beside her ear once more.
Ye Lingran lowered her head, listening to him without a word, just feeling his gentle touch and silently accepted it.
anwhile, Lu Shishu was pulled out of her own ho by Nan Jiayan. When they reached the door next door, she broke free from his hand, frowning and looking at him coldly, "I said, I don’t need it."
Just as she was about to turn back, Nan Jiayan had already opened the door to the neighboring house, and several ’ow’ sounds were heard. Lu Xize, who had followed them, looked inside and saw two blue and white kittens crouching at the door. One was tilting its head, staring at them with big eyes, and the other looked much more aloof.
"Oh, you’ve got two cats?" Lu Xize went in, squatting down and reaching out to touch them. Seeing the other cat looking so fierce, he switched midway to pet the more adorable one that was acting cute.
Lu Shishu paused in her steps, turning her body slightly without looking back.
"Yeah, I’ve had them for over two years." Nan Jiayan smiled calmly and said, "The bathroom is to the right."
"Okay, I’ll wash up first." Lu Xize nodded, satisfied after petting the cat, then got up and gave Nan Jiayan a look.
"Aren’t you coming in?" Nan Jiayan asked with a smile, picking up the cuddly cat.
Lu Shishu glanced at the cat in his arms, her eyes narrowing slightly. The cake clinging to her hair was indeed uncomfortable. As she hesitated, Nan Jiayan grabbed her wrist again and pulled her inside. A cat that appeared to be aloof looked at her, but after a few seconds of eye contact, it walked over and rubbed against her leg.
"Looks like Biuqiu really likes you."
"Biuqiu?" Lu Shishu asked, puzzled, "That’s its na?"
"Yeah, it’s called Biuqiu, a male, and the adorable one in my arms is Buxia, a female. Biuqiu seems cold but is very gentle, while Buxia, despite being cute, has a bad temper and gets annoyed easily, always being clingy."
"Those are quite artsy nas." Lu Shishu always knew he was a cat lover, but she wasn’t particularly fond of animals—not liking or disliking them. She nonchalantly made the comnt and stepped over the cat by her feet, walking inside.
Though he had moved here for a while, this was actually her first ti visiting his place. The layouts of the two apartnts were similar, with slight differences in the bedrooms. The decor was elegant and minimalistic.
After taking a quick look around, Lu Shishu pulled back her gaze and turned to Nan Jiayan, "Lu Xize went in, so where do you want to wash?"
"There’s a bathroom in my bedroom as well, with towels and shampoo. It’s the first room on your left."
After hearing him, Lu Shishu said nothing and just walked inside. The bedroom was spacious but not filled with much, looking quite empty. There was only a comfortable large bed, a long sofa against the wall, a small movable table for a laptop, and a wardrobe next to the bedroom, all appearing neat and tidy.
"If you need anything, just let know," Nan Jiayan’s warm voice ca from behind as she explored.
"I don’t need anything." Lu Shishu paused for a mont, turned around to see Nan Jiayan behind her, and without saying more, went directly into the bathroom.
Lu Shishu walked into the bathroom, turning on the hot water to wash the cake off her face first, then pulled her hair to the front and used the showerhead to rinse out the cake bit by bit. Halfway through, a dark shadow suddenly covered her. As she turned back, a hand took the showerhead from her, and a warm hand was placed on her head.
"You missed a spot by your ear, let help."
"No, go away." Lu Shishu was taken aback, instinctively refusing, disliking Nan Jiayan’s proximity.
"Really don’t need help?"
"Leave."
"Okay, take your ti, call if you need anything." Nan Jiayan didn’t insist, knowing her temperant. If pushed too hard, she truly might leave her shower halfway.
Once she returned to her ho with her hair wrapped, two curious cats had followed her from Nan Jiayan’s place. Yun Xi and Yu Feici had also finished washing. Upon seeing the cats, they exclaid, "Wow, where did these kittens co from? They’re so cute!"
Lu Shishu then noticed the two little things weren’t afraid of strangers and quickly turned to look at Nan Jiayan, who was standing by the door. He shrugged helplessly, as if to say, ’I just noticed they followed over too.’
"Handso Nan, are these yours?" Yun Xi tilted her head, asking as she followed Lu Shishu’s gaze.
Nan Jiayan nodded with a smile, "I don’t even know how they followed over and beca so affectionate."
"Wow! Didn’t think you’re a cat person!"
Yu Feici joined Yun Xi in petting the cats. Once Cen Jin and Jiang Baizhou ca out from washing, Feici stood up, "Now that everyone is cleaned up, let’s tidy the dining table and kitchen. Otherwise, it’ll be tiring for Shi Shu to do it alone later!"
"No need, I’m already delighted you all ca today. I’ll slowly take care of it later." Lu Shishu quickly refused.
"No worries, Ling Ran’s still inside! Since we’re waiting for her, let’s clean up before leaving!" Cen Jin said, diving in and signalling to Jiang Baizhou. He received his wife’s cue and joined in gathering the dinnerware.
After they finished tidying up, Lu Shishu spoke up, "Thank you so much for today, I can handle the rest." She then nodded courteously to them.
"Don’t ntion it! We caused enough trouble for you all day." Cen Jin imdiately grabbed her, just as Ye Lingran erged from the bathroom, "It’s getting late. We’ll head out now. Happy birthday!"
"Thank you, but why are we so formal today? Last ti you stirred up my place, it wasn’t like this."
"Who knows?" Cen Jin shrugged, waved goodbye with the others, picked up their clothes and bags, and left Lu Shishu’s ho.
