She didn’t actually expect the four of them to help her cook anything; they could only help wash and cut the vegetables or sothing like that.
The kitchen was quite spacious, but it quickly beca crowded with the four of them and a lot of ingredients. When Cen Jin turned around holding freshly washed onions and carrots, she almost bumped into Yun Xi, who was carrying a plate of shrimp. Fortunately, she stopped in ti, otherwise the shrimp would have been wasted.
Once the four of them finished the tasks Ye Lingran assigned, they voluntarily left the kitchen, leaving the large stage to Ye Lingran.
The four of them sat on the couch in the living room, exchanging glances. Suddenly, Lu Shishu asked, "Hey, Cen Jin, why didn’t Jiang Baizhou co? I thought he’d be with you today!"
"Exactly! Today is Shi Shu’s birthday, as an old classmate, shouldn’t he co to the party? That’s not very nice!" Yu Feici chid in sternly condemning Jiang Baizhou’s behavior, as she grabbed so sunflower seeds from the table and continued munching.
"He had a lunch appointnt and couldn’t make it, but he’ll be here tonight," Cen Jin explained with a smile.
Just past noon, Cen Jin and the others sitting in the living room could sll the aroma coming from the kitchen. Yun Xi couldn’t resist anymore and went to check it out. Seeing the six dishes on the table, she sneakily grabbed a piece to taste, and her eyes lit up instantly. She looked at Ye Lingran, who was still busy in the kitchen, and said, "Wow, Ling Ran, it’s delicious! What else are you making?"
"The last two dishes, I’m searing steaks and making a fruit salad. Shi Shu doesn’t eat seafood but only eats vegetables and beef, right?"
"Oh, she can’t eat seafood and other ats?" Yun Xi was taken aback, completely unaware.
"I’m not too sure either; I heard it from Cen Jin. Whenever we ate with her before, she only had veggies and beef, never other ats or seafood."
"I didn’t know, and I brought so much seafood today."
"It’s okay! There are other dishes too, right?" Ye Lingran smiled, "It’s almost ready, call them over to serve the dishes and set the table!"
"OK."
After everyone brought all the dishes to the dining table and sat down, Lu Shishu happily raised a wine glass, "First, thank you all for coming to celebrate my birthday today, especially Yun Xi, you brought so much stuff; I’m a bit embarrassed."
"Don’t say that, if Ling Ran hadn’t ntioned it, I wouldn’t have known you don’t eat seafood; I brought two big boxes of it," Yun Xi quickly waved her hands, feeling even more embarrassed when Lu Shishu said that.
"No worries, there are other dishes too!" Lu Shishu smiled and looked at Ye Lingran, "And then, thank you to Ling Ran, our lovely chef. Without you, we wouldn’t know what to do with all these ingredients. You’ve worked hard, it’s my birthday, yet you ended up cooking, really sorry."
"It’s alright, you’re too polite. Cooking is just a hobby of mine, and I’m happy that you all enjoy it."
"In any case, let’s make a toast, wishing Ling Ran a happy birthday and thanking her for her culinary skills, cheers to Ling Ran!" Yu Feici watched them politely exchanging complints and sumd it up concisely, raising a toast.
With Yun Xi and Yu Feici, two lively won present, the al couldn’t help but be lively. The two of them started playing a finger-guessing ga out of nowhere, with the loser drinking. Eventually, Yun Xi and Yu Feici pulled Lu Shishu, the drinker, into the ga; anwhile, Ye Lingran and Cen Jin, who weren’t good with alcohol, could only watch. The originally quiet house beca lively and warm.
The al went on energetically until two o’clock when they finally stopped. Yu Feici, Yun Xi, and Cen Jin took the initiative to handle the dishwashing, while Lu Shishu cleaned the table. Ye Lingran didn’t have a chance to help at all. She wanted to assist but was pushed out of the kitchen by Yun Xi and the others, saying how could their head chef do such chores! Ye Lingran could only smile wryly. Once the kitchen was tidied, Yu Feici turned on the KTV mode on Lu Shishu’s TV, and the fun started all over again.
