The rainy weather lingered in Nancheng for a week before finally clearing up. The sunset glow after the rain was soft and gentle, and as dusk fell, the evening breeze gradually carried away the midsumr heat, bringing a feeling of comfort and tranquility.
Cen Jin arrived as promised at the the restaurant where she and Lu Shishu often visited. Because she ca often, the restaurant staff already recognized her. Upon seeing her, they smiled and nodded in greeting, "Miss Nie, you’ve arrived. Miss Lu is already here, waiting for you by the window in the loft."
Cen Jin smiled gently and nodded, saying ’thank you’ before heading straight upstairs.
This the restaurant had been open in Nancheng for so years now, and its style was rather retro. Ever since she and Lu Shishu got acquainted so many years ago, they would generally choose to dine here, a tradition that hadn’t changed.
As soon as she went upstairs, Cen Jin imdiately spotted the familiar graceful silhouette and called out, "Shi Shu."
Lu Shishu stood before the floor-to-ceiling window, her stunning profile exuding a hint of aloofness, mixed with so world-weariness and tranquility. Dressed in a white chiffon belted top and exquisite denim skinny pants, she perfectly showcased her figure. Upon hearing that serene voice, Lu Shishu turned to look over, her smooth, straight hair slipping from her shoulder, a subtle expression of joy appearing on her charming face. Her glamorously red lips curled into a slight arc as she walked over in her high heels to embrace her, "Long ti no see."
"You’ve been here for a while, haven’t you?" Cen Jin smiled as she withdrew from the embrace, took the bag off her shoulder, and sat down at the table.
"Not really, just got here a while ago." Lu Shishu also sat down, smiling as she teased, "I thought you were going to stand up like last week!"
At the ntion of this, Cen Jin felt a bit guilty, clasped her hands, and smiled apologetically, "To express my apologies, this al is on . I didn’t expect Ling Ran to receive an urgent order that day. I’ve been working overti until dawn these past few days to rush the production, even spending a few nights sleeping in the studio. It only finished around four this afternoon."
Regarding this matter, Cen Jin felt helpless. A week ago, she had arranged to dine with Shi Shu, after not seeing each other for so long. But unexpectedly, on the appointed day, Ling Ran received an urgent order. Initially, Cen Jin wanted to refuse, but the client pleaded desperately, hoping to wear the wedding dress designed by her hands. Cen Jin, unable to resist, agreed. From that day on, she and Ye Lingran worked day and night with no rest, only managing to finish hurriedly today to et Lu Shishu.
Although ti was tight, Cen Jin was particularly attentive in designing the wedding dress, without a hint of negligence. Despite the tough process, the outco was good. The client rejoiced over the wedding dress, extrely satisfied, which eased Cen Jin’s worries.
"Seeing the severe dark circles under your eyes, I know you haven’t been resting well these days. Then why the rush? You could always et tomorrow."
"Isn’t this just to show my guilt towards you?"
"Then have a drink with !" Lu Shishu smiled lightly and raised an eyebrow, looking at her with interest.
Upon hearing this, Cen Jin’s face changed, and she quickly waved her hand, "Spare ! You know my alcohol tolerance."
She and Lu Shishu had known each other since sophomore year of high school when Lu Shishu was a transfer student. She was very beautiful, lively and cheerful when active, gentle and generous when calm. Many boys always surrounded her, and over ti, she was ostracized by other girls, making Cen Jin her only friend.
But later, Lu Shishu’s personality changed. She beca cold and indifferent, treating everything with an attitude of indifference. Her stunning face, as long as she didn’t smile, had a world-weary look, always giving off an air of detachnt, projecting a sense of unique distance. But beneath her deanor, there was a subtle allure. Whenever she smiled, it was like the galaxy of stars, dazzlingly bright, and her only hobbies now were smoking, drinking, and painting.
